Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar hit bullseye
with his film Chandni Bar in 2001. This film
not only established him as an acclaimed
filmmaker in Bollywood but also got him
critical and commercial success. After that,
he went on to make award-winning films
like Page 3, Traffic Signal and Fashion and
he became a favourite of B-town stars. But
his last few outings at the box-office like
Heroine, Calendar Girls, and Indu Sarkar
failed to get attractions. So, now the maker
has decided to go back from where his
journey of success began.
As per reports, Madhur Bhandarkar is all set
to make a sequel of his acclaimed film
Chandni Bar, which will be produced by
Shailesh R Singh. The film's story will revolve
around the aftermath of the 2005 ban on
dance bars in Mumbai and he has set the
film around the same time and subject. The
film will roll by end of the year.
Producer Shailesh R Singh confirmed the
news to a leading daily, "I'm really excited
to produce Chandni Bar 2 with Madhur as
the director once again. I have already
acquired the rights to the film and can't
wait to take it on the floors. Chandni Bar
had Tabu and Atul Kulkarni in the leads. So,
will they be seen in Chandni Bar 2? "We
haven't thought about the casting of the
film yet. Let's see, says Shailesh R Singh.
