I watched a documentary about the battle of hydapses called Battles BC. Don't Know how authentic it is, historically speaking but it showed great tactics and explained how Alexander defeated Porus. Makes me wonder if they'll show any of those tactics in this show. I watched the first few episodes and haven't watched this show since. Just wanted to know what the regular viewers think.

I think the battle of jhelum was first thought to be a victory now historians now think it was a stalemate. Neither Alex or porus is said to have won due to lack of anything apart from Greek sources. So historians has left it as inconclusive.but porus defenidefi didn't win it. Hopefully they will show it as inconclusive as per history n not make puru win to make him look great it will be stupid make Alexander the great who was undefeated suffer defeat. It won't happen that what I feel cv can't be that dumb. Historical show fiction but they can't be completely idiotic.

@daphnejasmine Yeah I've heard that too. But why would Alexander be able to leave his Satraps in India if King Porus hadn't surrendered? It was a long drawn battle and both sides suffered great losses. Not to mention, Alexander's army was demoralised. Also, at that time there was no concept of a unified 'India'. It was only Chanakya who thought that way AFAIK. Porus was only a king defending his own kingdom and not the country as a whole.

80% of world think alexander win d battle but 20% say poras win it has reasons also. Alexander d great was actually not great. Alexander 4 small mistakes punished his people very brutely , he never believed in forgiving , then how com he forgave poras & return his kingdom + he gave more area 2 poras 2 rule.Greek scholars spread that alexender win but actual truth is mystery , some say d war was a draw no one win.

He didn't forgive porus, he just accepted the latter's surrender. Besides, there's nothing to forgive Porus wasn't rebelling, he was just doing what any king would do, defending his kingdom. Besides if Alexander didn't win, how did the Greeks establish colonies in India? And Alexander was a good politician too. He knew he couldn't stay in India, his soldiers were starting to rebel so he left some people like selucus in charge and let the Indian kings he conquered maintain their own ilusion of power

If u will read book related chanakya u will get ur answer, infact i read book about chanakya which do give a lot of detail of king puru. Its lame excuse that alexender army was not willing 2 fight given by Greek scholars but reality is something diff. Alexander after fighting poras has 2 fight with maghad with whom his defeat was almost certain, there many other reasons of alexander returning ,

I m not saying i m 100% right coz there many theories but i read what i wrote & i can be wrong coz i m definately not from that era
But theories i read says maybe king poras dint lost or d war was a draw.

Akhand bharat ki shuruvat, this book was published in 1971 , i will say basically is actually chanakya's biography coz this book mostly tells his story but in this book there is one whole page is dedicated 2 poras which claims he was a chandravanshi raja , his father name was chandrasen & puru's mother died in his teenage due 2 some illness & he had a brother name laghu raj, when puru was coronated as king his kingdom was 2 small only upto river jhelum but puru extended his kingdom till river chenab, king abhisara who ruled nowshera & poonch was a close friend of poras & ambhiraj was against both poras & abhisara but he also surrender 2 alexander like ambhiraj.
This book say that after dhanand refused 2 help chanakya, he approached poras was a powerful king & well known 4 his bravery. Relationship b/w pourav rashtra & takshila only formed after alexander & poras fight , as after that poras's daughter was married 2 ambhiraj , alexander made poras king of takshila 2.
This book states that chanakya had prepared an army of vishkanya, he used it on alexander's army as he used 2 believe that a warrior should always be targeted on heart.

This book had very limited copies left , as my cousin sister was working on her history project regarding chanakya, so she issued d book from our city library , i steal this info from there.

He did not leave a Satrap in Pourav Rashtra but in Taxshila (which was also a part of India) who had accepted the super rule of Alexander and other small Indian Kingdoms who were defeated. As per the Greek Sources impressed by the bravery of Porus, Alexander made him the king of Porus (they dont use the word Satrap here like they used for Taxshila or some other sources). Arrian actually refers Porus to be a mightier ruler than even Chandragupta Maurya

But as someone else said that there is no source about the winner of the war except the Greek records who would definitely show them as the winner

So we can not conclude what was the actual result of the war. It could be either Alexander the winner or Porus or else in was a stalemate, and anything which is shown in this show can not be claimed to be historically incorrect (the US movie Alexander ignored the result of the war, they showed Alexander attacking and Porus defending followed by the scene where Alexander is on his death bed)
