Bollywood actress Koena Mitra, who has acted in films like Musafir' (2004), Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena' (2005) and Apna Sapna Money Money' (2006), has lashed out at actress Sonam Kapoor for her tweet on Kathua rape case.
After horrific details of the abduction, rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district emerged from a chargesheet filed earlier, several Bollywood celebrities joined the nation in voicing their disgust and disappointment over the ghastly incident.
Expressing her anger on the Kathua rape case, Sonam Kapoor had tweeted on April 12, "Ashamed appalled and disgusted by fake nationals and fake Hindus. I cannot believe this is happening in my country.
Koena Mitra took to Twitter to express her opinion on Sonam Kapoor's tweet. Though she appreciated Sonam condemning the heinous act, she criticised the actress for giving it a communal twist'.
She urged her to not blame an entire religion for this particular incident and requested her to show the same outrage for all rape incidents. Koena Mitra shared news clippings of other recent rape cases that haven't garnered the same media attention and support of celebrities.

Bollywood celebrities have been expressing their anger, disgust and disappointment over the horrific Kathua and Unnao rape cases that have outraged and shocked the nation. Celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Richa Chadha and Kalki Koechlin have joined the nationwide campaign seeking justice for the rape victims.

In January, an eight-year-old girl went missing while grazing horses in Kathua. A week later, her body was recovered. Investigations have now revealed she was held captive in a temple and was sedated before being repeatedly raped and murdered.
In Unnao, a 17-year-old was raped last year, allegedly by BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar, who has been named in a CBI FIR and was questioned and later arrested. The incident came to light after the victim tried to set herself ablaze outside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence. The victim's father died after being allegedly beaten by the MLA's brother at a police station.
