Has the reality of Varun's stardom been exposed by Baaghi2?

Overall Judwaa2 opened at 86 lakhs which was a record few months ago. Baaghi2 opened at 1.29 cr which even beat Baahubali2 and TZH.

After 5 days Judwaa2 made 3.4 cr while Baaghi2 made 4.79cr.

So is Varun's so called stardom a result of serendipitous circumstances? That is he debuted with KJo's directorial with Sid M but being himself well connected in the industry and getting an additional push from KJo helped him choose films which suited him. Later those films released great circumstances coming either in holiday periods or periods of no competition or after a spate of big flops(this was especially true of Judwaa2). It helped him that Sid M and Ranbir are undergoing a flop phase and Ranveer too cant deliver without Deepika and SLB and SLB films take time to get made. Only positive thing about Varun is his work ethics ie he works in low budget movies, does his best to promote them and keep his fans engaged. Very much like Akshay.

But now with Baaghi2 we see the potential of what his films could have done vs what they did. So like Alia has Varun too been lucky to have been in the right place at the right time for the last few years?

If Baaghi2 crosses BM and YJHD then Ranveer and Ranbir are in danger too. But for now it looks sure to cross Judwaa2.

As per Ormax the film has great WOM. So it might be very good for its genre.

Has he made any other films? Generally choreographers made bad directors.
