Majority loves crap shows and unnecessary twists and turns... While good shows don't get its due... Thats a sad reality...

First first of all Sony's reach is more urban, where a lot of people watch online. The other channels have more rural reach... that in itself is a major difference.

Sony doesn't promote their shows aggressively as the other channels, though I must say they have improved in the last couple of years.

Sony's content is definitely more progressive and varied... as compared to the predominantly regressive content of the other channels... but I feel a lot of people are slowly coming to acknowledge and appreciate this fact, again especially the youth.

seriously? low trp? btw what is it currently?

this is the greatest show ever made! I never miss an episode, always watch it live eventhough it comes on soo late (10.30pm) and I have college the next morning.
I cant believe it has low trp... its amazing so pure and most importantly realistic! ❤️
maybe if they change the time slot more people would be able to watch

Since I am an Analyst and I know how these things are at back-end, I will give you a more technical answer to this. People's meter are installed in some randomly chosen homes and the ratings are calculated as to how these homes watch TV. Few years back there were only 8000 of these machines installed and also the Southern part of India dint had any. Though in statistics its always a sample is chosen and then the results are projected on the larger population. However, to project the views of 8000 people on a country of 1.25+billion does not represent the population well... so this TRP isnt actually how the Indian audience watch TV. its merely based on these 8k houses that whole TRP game works...
TAM, the sister concern of Nielsen, is the company doing this TRP calculations and its always under criticism and allegations of not projecting the number accurately.

I still don't understand this trps system and I think this is the main reason for showing crap contents years after years and if new concept show get introduced it's also goes in same way after some time or pulled off
But Sony still believe in bringing new concepts but sadly won't get that much ot trps as it's watched by almost young generation .
YUDKBH is still performing well and no1 fictional show on channel .

I know but I guess you are not following it since last one and half year. Sincethen it is BARC which had installed around 40K meters. Though the Meter nos are less for a 1.25 B population but that's how opinion poll thing works for elections and ita gives rough idea what is more popular and what is not.Sample data is ideally followed all over world. So that's no problem I think as installation of meters at each and every house is not feasible and possible.

I agree Sony shows are having more online viewers hence less Trp. Maybe that's why they focused on Sony LIV app. This is also revenue generating platform , read somewhere Super Dancer, Porus and YUDKBH are very popular on Sony LIV app.

See MTV's popular show KYY was also mega hit on digital platform, that's why they are coming with its Season 3 on Voot app only.

Sony may follow the suit. Super Dancer Finale Live Voting is an example.Maybe after some years we may get YUDKBH S2 on Sony LIV app.

thats nice if they have installed 40k meters and that shud still give a feasible data to project... like i hv said a sample is projected on the population so nowhere it is possible to install meter in every home and also the calculation is feasible and practical only if its on a sample. generating trends from whole population is never feasible...

the 8k data which i mentioned was in around 2010 and after that i m not following what TAM is up to...

online viewership does matter and it will come into play wen it generates enough revenue... the major junk of revenue comes from advertising... however digital marketing/advertising hasnt generated that much revenue as major population not just in India but across the globe relie on TV for their dose of awareness regarding trending products in the market... this mostly owes to the baby boomer population which still holds the highest bracket in TV viewing sample... once millennial and Gen X and there after follow, digital advertising will become crucial and then the online population will contribute the most...
