"Omkara that's not how you do it! You'll kill the fish!
Omkara frowns at the little girl sitting beside him on the edge of the pond in his garden.
"I am doing it just like you Gauri, the fish is too slippery,
"But you'll kill the fish if you hold it so tight! Here let me show you, Gauri, 5 years old grabs Omkara's hand, who is just two years older than her and very softly peta the orange fish inside the pond.
"See, like this, she grins at him as he smiles back at her.
"Oh no! The fish ran away Gauri! I should have held it tighter, Omkara whines as he angrily crosses his hands against his chest.
"Baba says we should not hold the things which are dear to us too tight, or else they will break. The fish will come back to you eventually Omkara, please don't feel bad, Gauri says sweetly as she gently pets the other fish in the pound.
It always amazes Omkara how none of the fish runs away when Gauri touches. When he tries to touch them they just disappear.
"Why do you call me omkara?
"What do you mean? That's your name right?
"Yeah but everyone in the town calls me prince Omkara, all the servants and ministers, even your dad, he asks. He is the prince of Rajgarh which means one day he will grow up be the king, just like his dad, Tej Singh Oberoi, his mom always tell him.
"Yeah because you are prince to them, Gauri answers with a shrug.
"What do you mean I am a prince to them? Don't you think I am a prince? See, look at this golden brooch, Mom said only prince get to have this. He says, a little mad that Gauri didn't believe he was the prince. Everyone knew that!
Gauri rolls her eyes.
"Arre stupid! I know you are the prince, but to me you are my best friend and best friends calls each other just by their names, she answers, pulling his hand and rolling up his sleeve to show him the matching friendship bands on their wrists.
"Alright! You are my best friend so you can call me Omkara. But don't make anyone else your best friends ok? I don't want you to play with other kids,
Gauri's face sadden a little as Omkara's weird request which was more like an order. Being a royalty he has become habitual to ordering around.
"But why?
"Because if you make other friends you'll not come here to play with me and I really really really like playing with you,
Gauri smiles at his reply.
"I like playing with you too omkara! And I promise you, you'll always be my only best friend, She says happily making Omkara smile like he just got his favourite candy.
"Omkara! Gauri! Now come and eat something then play! Jhanvi Singh Oberoi, Omkara's mom yells to the kids as a servants brings milkshake and chocolate cookies for the kids.

Gauri Kumari Sharma is Shakti Sharma's only daughter who is a minister at Tej Singh Oberoi's palace. He is one of the most trusted men of Tej, almost like his family.
Gauri grew up along Omkara and she is almost like a daughter to Tej and Jhanvi.
She would tag along with his father to the palace to play with Omkara which is her most favourite things in the world.
Little Omkara has absolutely no trouble in his life, he is a very happy child but as he grow up he realises that life isn't all fairy tale. And 4 years later, Gauri has become not just his best friend but also his confidant, the person who listens to all his problems and then hug him tightly.
"Omkara what happened? Why are you crying? Gauri asked as she sat beside Omkar on the swing, her own eyes starting to get teary, watching her best friend cry.
"M-my dad..he don't love mom, Gauri. Everyone says he will leave her and starting living with-with some shwetlana, he cries.
Gauri hold his hand tightly, feeling bad for him. Though she don't know what the actual matter is, she has listened many women on the locality talking about the king and the queen, more specially about some affair and a dancer named Shwetlana.
"I am very scared Gauri, I don't want dad to leave us, he lets his head fall over her shoulder and cries. Gauri quickly wraps her around him in a tight hug.
"Don't worry Omkara, everything will get fine. She pats his arm gently, something her mom did when she would cry.
Omkara pulls back as of sudden and looks at her with fear in his eyes.
"Promise me Gauri that no matter what, you will never leave me,
She rubs away his tears by her long sleeves and smiles at him.
"I promise you, I'll never leave you, no matter what,

Tej don't leave Jhanvi but everything isn't right between them either. After almost an year Omkara has come in terms with his parents dying relationship but that don't stop him from feeling sad whenever he hears loud heat conversation between his parents which is almost the every night.
They no longer go on picnics together or sit in one room without yelling or throwing stuff at each other.
It was affects his mind and body and he starts staying I'll. He is always sad and would get fever every now and then. He almost stops talking to everyone, except Gauri, but even with her he would mostly stay quite or would utter just two or three words.
Gauri grows tense for her best friend. It almost kills her to watch him like this. Though in past whenever they use to talk he would just brag about himself but she liked to listen to whatever he had to say. But now it is nothing.
One day she while she walks around the palace searching to her father she hears Queen Jhanvi's voice from one of the room.
"Here is Omkara's kundali Panditji. Doctor said he has a hole in this heart and operation fatal for him but his condition is deteriorating everyday. I don't know what to do, please save me Baby Panditji. He is the only one I have! Jhanvi cried.
Panditji looks at Omkara's kundali then sighs loudly, making Jhanvi's fear grow inside her chest.
"What happened Panditji? Her lips tremble.
"Your son is going through a very hard time. His stars are in a very bad position. To be honest, he has very small chances of surviving,
Gauri gasps listening to Panditji.
Was Omkara going to die?
Jhanvi collapses on the floor, colour draining out of her face.
"No this cant be true! My Omkara can't die! He can't! There has to be a way! There has to be! Jhanvi chants to herself, almost losing her mind.
"Actually this is.. Panditji says.
"What is it? Please tell me Panditji! I will do anything to save my child, Jhanvi begs.
"One a girl with stars stronger than his can save him. He will have to marry her so their starts can combine and her stats will save your son,
"B-but pandit Ji Omkara is just 12, he can't marry now,
"I job was to tell you the way child, following it is up to you, Panditji caressed Jhanvi's head, giving her blessing before moving toward the door. Gauri quickly run away from their.

For the next few weeks Omkara's health only worsen. He gets weaker and weaker and now he won't even leave his bed. Gauri, like a true friend would visit him everyday and read him stories, then they would talk about random things.
"I think I am going to die, Omkara says casually. Gauri is sitting beside him on his bed and they are playing video game.
Gauri drops the controller and looks at him angrily.
"No you are not!
"Don't get angry Gauri. Though nobody talks about it but I know everything. I have a hole in my heart and if I get operated, there are very few chances of my survival , he says without any emotion on his face.
Gauri feels like crying.
"No Omkara you are not gonna die, I won't let you.
He smiles at her.
"I am afraid if there is much you can do. The doctors themselves have said. I might even not make to my next birthday,
"Omkara please! Don't say just ridiculous things. You will celebrate you next birthday and many others after that! I know it because I pray to my Sankar Ji everyday for you. He won't let anything happen to you, Gauri's eyes gets teary.
She heard her baba telling her maa that Omkara was going to be transferred to a big hospital of Mumbai the next week. She can't imagine not be able to see him for long.
"Gauri..
She looks at him. Unlike her, he don't look scared or sad. He looks very calm.
"Hmm

Two days later Omkara faints in his room, his body cold as corpse. Jhanvi almost gets an heart attack when she sees his son.
Tej and she immediately take him to the hospital and he is put on ventilator. He requires immediate operation.
They both decide they will go for it and while Tej fills forms for Omkara's transfer to a hospital in Mumbai, Jhanvi runs out of the hospital.
Gauri was making get well soon card for Omkara when Jhanvi comes to her house, looking like a mess.
"Arre Ranisahiba! Aap yha? Her baba runs to Jhanvi when he saw her. He tells her mother to bring a glass of water to her but she refused.
"I don't want water Shakti. I want my son's life, she cries.
"I-I don't understand.. Shakti looks at his wife, both equally confused.
"You said you are loyal to us right?
"Yes, I can give my life for your family without second thoughts. My loyalty lies towards the royal family only, your highness,
"I-I am not asking for your life Shakti. I want something else,
"What your highness?
"I want your daughter,
Shakti and his wife pinky's jaw slack as they hear their queen.
"What?! They both say simultaneously.
Jhanvi tells them everything, what Panditji told her and that Gauri is the only perfect girl. She wanted to talk to him about his nicely but Om's condition worsen all of sudden.
"B-but your highness, Gauri is just 10 a-and-"
"I know what you are think but I promise you when they both will grow up Gauri will get all her rights. She will become the next queen of this empire. I give you my words, Jhanvi says in her determined tone.
But Shakti and Pinky are still not convinced. Gauri is their only child and it was all about her life too.
"Please Shakti do your queen this last favour, I beg you, Jhanvi falls on the ground before Shakti and pinky, joining her hands.
"Y-your highness..
They had no idea what to say.
"I want to save Om! I will marry him! Gauri enters into the hall, holding her card and walks towards her parents.
"Gauri, stay out of this! Don't you see elders are talking right now? Shakti scolds her daughter.
"But baba didn't you see what Queen Jhanvi said? Omkara needs my help baba. He is my best friend! I want to save him or he will die,
Shakti looks at his daughter unsure what to say whilst Jhanvi smiles at her. She kind of always knew thar Om and Gauri are perfect together.
"Pinky you too are mother right? You will understand my pain. Please save my child, I beg you, Jhanvi pleads to Pinky.
Pinky looks at her husband.
"Shakti Ji I think..
Shakti who gets what his wife means to say nods lightly.
He turns to Jhanvi.

There marriage rituals are short and quick because of three reasons. Firstly, Om is half unconscious because of heavy sedatives. Secondly, he is to be taken to Mumbai quickly. And thirdly, because Tej don't like the whole idea of Om getting married that too a girl with hardly upto their standards.
After that Om is quickly taken to the hospital but before that Gauri carefully tugs her card in his hand.
The operation is a success and when the kingdom gets the merry news it rejoice knowing their prince is healthy.
But Gauri is the happiest soul. She eagerly waits for Om to come back.
Om returns after a week, looking a lot better than before. Gauri literally drags her dad to the palace to see him.
"Gauri! Your sankar ji herd your prayers! Om says with a huge smile.
"My Sanker ji listens to everything I say, She replies proudly.
"You saw my card Om?
"Off course I did! I kept it with me all the time. He smiles.
"Where is it now?
"In my diary. I have kept it safe there,
Gauri grins.
"You know what I got the weirdest dream before I got operated,
"Really? Was it about dragons? Gauri asks with excitement.
Om chuckled.
"Arre no silly. It was about you and me, he says.
"Wow! What happened in it?
"I don't remember much but it was very stupid.. he replies eating his chocolate.
"Ok but you remember it my birthday next month right? Gauri asks with a grin.
"Of course I do!
"You'll come to my house right? I'll ask mummy to make your favourite kheer,
Om's face sadden listening to her.
"I am sorry Gauri but I don't think ill be able to come,
"But why? She whines.
"I am going to Germany the next week. Dad said I am still not perfectly healthy. Ill have to meet the doctor there, he replies sadly.
"But we have doctors here Om!
"I know but those doctors are much better. Dad said I have to go their no matter what. I might have to stay for the studies too. They have the best schools.
Gauri frowns sadly.
"Ill miss you Om,
"Me too,

Om was right. He don't return even after her birthday but Khanna ji gives her a small box saying Om left this box to be given to her on her birthday. It contains a silver bracelet saying best friends with lots of charms. It is gorgeous.
One day Gauri hears her parents talking to Jhanvi about Om. She tells him he would comeback after completing his studies then she would talk to him about everything'.
Though she don't know what Jhanvi meant, she is just glad that he would return.
They would talk on skype and even with thousands of miles between them Gauri only feel their friendship grow.
Though slowly slowly Om becomes more reserved but Gauri tries not to mind it.
As she grow up and he began to consume her mind and thoughts more and more she realises that she is in love with her best friend, more specifically her husband. Though Jhanvi had tells her to never bring that topic until Om was back.
His name alone brings butterflies inside her stomach.
She spends years just loving Om and waiting for him to come back to her.
And after 10 years one day Gauri receives an email from him saying he his coming back, her true love.
