This is the last week of our favorite show, and I am sad. I am happy that you loved my other two OS before. So here is another treat for you. It is about the birth of Shani and Dhamini's Child.
Small things of happiness
Chapter 1
In his stronger moments, Shani thinks that his marriage to his Dhamini is nothing but a duty like giving Karmafal.
In his weaker moments, he knows that marriage is more than a duty, a bond, a lifelong promise.
(But that's okay, because he is detached, but he has a sensitive heart under the mask of indifference, sometimes, he too becomes emotional...so he takes it easily.)
Dhamini saw her husband in his best times and worst times, carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders confidently, before he stood in front of her hesitantly and finally confessed his feelings for her.
It's both everything and nothing like she thought it would be.
He carries her to their marital bed, and smiles at her hesitantly, taking her hand in his asks if she feels the same. She smiles at him though her tears, and pulls him closer, terrified to let him go (she's always been so terrified to let him go) and he collapses in her arms, head resting in the security of her embrace and listening to her heart beat.
(She feels like her body has been set on fire and ripped apart only to be put back together.)
She'll never forget how vulnerable he felt in her arms, and the way his breath ghosts hers and the way his voice sounds as he says her name over and over again.
(Her name sounds like a hymn in his lips and Dhamini feels that she needs to protect this precious man in any cost. )
She's terrified that one day she will disappoint her husband.
Yami sees Dhamini behaving a bit odd lately. She's been feeling nauseous for the past couple of days and she's passed it off as something she ate in the celebration of Lord Rama's birth. But if it is the case, it can't persist for so long.
So, Yami decides to investigate further.
She finds Dhamini looking miserably at the food, and playing with a chopped piece of fruit absentmindedly. The expression in her face is telling that she is not particularly interested in any of those foods.
"Dhamini," Yami carefully approaches near her sister-in-law, "What's wrong? Are you worried about Shani?"
Dhamini is startled with Yami's voice, and carefully pushes the plate full of breakfast away. "Nothing." She tries to smile. Her face looks very pale.
"You don't look good, Dhamini." Yami peers at the face of her sister-in-law and shakes her head worriedly, "You must not take it lightly. You have been sick for days. Besides, where is my stupid brother?" She looks around the room in the search of her brother, but can't find him anywhere. "Does he know about your condition?
"Please, Yami," Dhamini grasps her friend's hand and shakes her head, "Don't bother Shani with this simple thing. You know how busy he is lately about Ravan's attack in Indralok."
Things turned grim since the last few months. Ravan's son was born, and now Ravan has attacked Indralok again. So Indradev again called Suryadev and Shani for help.
"But, starving yourself will not do any good." Yami smiles affectionately. "Let start with something from your favorites." She surveyes the breakfast plate and picks up a grape. "I guess it is one of your favorite."
"Right choice, Yami." Dhamini smiles, and takes the grape from her friend. And her stomach begins to churn badly as soon as she put the grape inside her mouth.
"Dhamini..." Yami stares at her with concern, "What's wrong?"
Dhamni acts on instinct when she bolts out of the room and rushes into the corner. She's just made it over the golden bowl in the corner before she loses her breakfast and dinner.
(It can't be a simple food incident, Yami can tell.)
"Dhamini?" Yami asks softly, as she walks besides her friend. Her curly hair is all that Dhamini can see in her peripheral vision, as she kneels next to her and rubs a hand over her back. "You must not ignore it anymore. We must tell Shani..."
"It's fine." Dhamini croaks. "Everything is fine. It's just the food probably."
Yami stares at her with disbelief in her eyes, and she can feel it is not so simple.
Devi Chayya soon finds out about Dhamini's illness, and finally decides to call Shani and h is wife to know what is actually wrong. Dhamini looks so tired and nervous, as she follows her husband to meet at her sister in law and her mother in law. Shani looks equally tensed like his wife, as he supports her inside.
With one glance of her daughter-in-law, Devi Chayya realizes what is wrong with her.
She takes her inside and quietly asks Dhamini about her monthly cycles, and Dhamini suddenly realizes that she has missed last two months. But she has not noticed it because she was so busy worrying about Ravan's impending attacks on Suryalok. When she realizes what has really happened, her eyes grow wide.
A big smile appears on the face of Devi Chayya, and she pulls her close.
She holds her daughter-in-law at the arms' length, and smiled, "I am so proud of you today, daughter." She caresses her head gently, and Dhamini feels that her mother would do the same if she were alive today. Yami smiles too, and pulls her close.
Only Shani stands there silently with an utter expression of confusion in his face.
"Mata, is Dhamini going to be alright?" He sounds both concerned and confused. "Does she needs any special treatment? Do I need to inform Grandfather?" Worry for his wife's health crosses his usually calm face.
"No, son, Dhamini is alright." Devi Chayya smiles affectionately seeing the confused look in her son's face. He might be the Karmfaldata, but he can be so clueless in many things. But it only makes her heart flooding with affection for her son more.
"How can she be alright?" Shani asks impatiently , his frown only grows deeper. "Look at her, Mata. She looks like a shadow of her former self." Devi Chayya keeps smiling without giving him any clue, and it makes his confusion to grow more. For once she feels extremely proud of her son being worried for his wife. It pleased her to see that Shani fiinally found the the true meaning of love.
"Yami, He looks at his sister for help.
"It's better to hear from your wife." Yami punches his arm playfully.
Dhamini feels pity for her clueless husband, and it makes her to love him more.
He is so precious; she only hopes she will not disappoint him.
