PART-11

15 months before : Back to the past-

((When Arnav and Khushi fell for each other after the accident- A continuation of how Arnav & Khushi's love progressed in Nainital; might contain some mature stuff)) 😉

((Timeline-wise this is right after Part-8))

Raizada Orchards, Nainital:

After the accident, Arnav and Khushi grew very close to each other. Arnav had asked her a few times to relocate to Delhi, but she had refused as her family lived in Nainital. Khushi believed in love and marriage; she could not, even though she loved him a lot, compromise on her values. She was pleasantly surprised as Arnav had not said a single word against her or objected to her wishes. She knew he liked her a lot even though he never expressed it- he showed it in every way possible by respecting her ideas and wishes.

Even though Arnav travelled to Delhi, he come back to Nainital often. Arnav visited her once every week; he would make it a point to spend every weekend in Nainital with Khushi. The pleasant thoughts of Khushi filled him day and night.

Slowly, people working with him observed a subtle change in his demeanor- Aman, being the closest, noticed a charming effervescent young businessman in the place of his hot headed irritable boss. Aman was particularly happy with the change and knew the exact reason behind it. He knew the depth of his boss's attachment to Khushi Gupta and was totally bowled over by his outstanding loyalty for her. There was a strong bond between them that Aman was well aware of.

Khushi went back to working in the orchards after Arnav's accident. She helped the affable Bankimji in managing accounts. She was happy to support her family financially. While she worked and chatted with her friends and Payal, she also waited eagerly for his return from Delhi. People around Khushi had also noticed a change in her behavior although they couldn't exactly point a finger at it.

That day evening he was coming back after another 5-day stay in Delhi. He had spent almost every weekend with her in Nainital. It had been more than a month since their first encounter. Even though she had been the same cheerful girl as before, there was a marked change in her maturity. Some days she looked bubbly whereas some days she looked dejected. Payal knew it was somehow connected to Raizada Saab and was scared that her sister would be hurt. But, sometimes the happiness that her sister felt made Payal stick to her silence considering the panic Khushi had gone through previously due to the maniac Shyam during her college days.

Whenever Arnav came back, Khushi used to go to Raizada Mansion with an excuse of cooking for him. And, Arnav wouldn't let anyone else cook for him except Khushi. Khushi knew Payal was watching her and would try to be more careful around her sister.

"Kasi, go get a coffee for Sirji", Bankimji's words from the patio pulled Khushi out of her own thoughts.

"Bankimji, who is here?" asked Khushi suddenly detecting the rush and the change of mood outside.

"No, thank you", she heard the confident masculine voice that she was longing for.

"Sirji", Khushi exclaimed and ran outside to see him. She failed to notice Payal's suspicious looks towards her.

As their eyes met, Arnav held Khushi with an intense stare. Khushi couldn't help but turn pink as his eyes moved down to her lips.

With a humongous effort, he tore his gaze off of her to focus on what Bankimji and his other managers were talking about. Khushi was transported to the one time when he had come to meet her in the orchards, after she had slapped him the previous night.

As a small smile played on her lips at the memory, he looked at her with eyebrows raised, asking her silently what she was thinking about...

Raizada Mansion, Nainital:

A couple of hours later, he was treated to aromatic smells of Khushi's cooking. Arnav waited patiently for the other maids to leave before he could pull her into his arms. Khushi had requested complete secrecy of their relationship and he didn't want to make her uncomfortable.

"Patience is a virtue, they say" Arnav thought fondly, "this is what happens when I desire the goddess herself!"

His Dadi and Di had grown suspicious of his intentions in visiting Nainital often. But thankfully, his previous reputation in abhorring relationships saved him from their questionnaire.

Arnav had called his Di in the morning before she left for Singapore for a vacation with her family. She mentioned that his Dadi was on a long religious tour of various sacred places in India.

It was late when Arnav got a chance to get Khushi alone. He snatched the apples from her hand, threw them on the countertop, pushed her to the wall and crashed onto her lips.

"Khushi, I missed you", he said in between kisses, "It is very...very difficult to not see you even for a day"

As he pulled her body closer to his, he splayed his hand on her back while softly nipping her ear. Khushi moaned at the sweet pain.

"I'm crazy about you Khushi, he said biting her chin, "I cannot even sleep properly if I don't see you" "This is addiction, he chuckled, "No, "More an obsession"

"Stay back with me tonight", he murmured with his head bent into the crook of her neck

That jolted Khushi from the sweet torture she was going through.

"No Sirji, I cannot, What will people say?" she continued, "It won't look good", "If others come to know, my honour and that of my family's will be at stake"

She tried releasing herself from his hold; when he wouldn't let her go, she chuckled.

"It's not like in big cities here", she tried convincing him, "Everything will be gossiped about; Without marriage, a girl cannot stay with a man", she said innocently.

"Marriage?" he lifted his head as he questioned her.

Khushi knew he did not believe in marriage and love. Tears swam in her eyes as she realized she could never become his wife. As much as she respected marriage, she could not let go of her love either. Khushi felt choked.

Arnav noticed the display of emotions across her face. He could never take her tears.

"Khushi," he called, as he was about to talk further, there was the sound of a door being opened. Khushi instantly disengaged herself and ran into the store room closet to wipe her face.

Arnav was irritated at the intruder.

"Who are you?" he bellowed as he walked into the living room.

"Sor.. Sorr...Sorry Sirji", the lady looked scared to death, "I am Lalitha. Khushi's Bua sent me to call her home as it's a festival today, maaf kijiye ("forgive me)"

As Arnav closed his eyes grinding his teeth to reign in his emotions, Khushi walked out of the kitchen trying to act normal.

"Sirji", she said, "Can I please leave early as I have to go to temple today?"

Arnav was beyond irritated. It was one thing to hide the relationship infront of others, but completely another thing to disregard their feelings towards each other blatantly. Without responding to Khushi, he started walking off upstairs, totally pissed off.

As Khushi turned back to leave, she tripped over the carpet, and fell down.

"Careful dammit", Arnav screamed, as he rushed to her side to help her up. He touched her tenderly as he said, "Are you hurt?"

Khushi blushed as Lalitha watched the scene in wonder.

As they walked back to her house, Lalitha warned Khushi against Sirji but noticed, time and again, that Khushi was absent-minded and decided to talk to her Bua about her.

Khushi knew that she had hurt his feelings, she knew they had a lot to talk about. She knew he was crazy about her and missed her. She missed him too. But this was a taboo relationship.

Much later in the night, Khushi was still in a dilemma, and confused as to how to discuss this with him.

Once they got back home from the temple, and soon after her sister and Bua went to sleep, Khushi sneaked out. She had to see him. She ran all the way back to the Raizada Mansion.

Arnav was in the third-floor balcony when he noticed, in the moonlight, a petite figure run across the lawn at high speed and enter his mansion through the back door. As he hurried down to the living room, he collided with a heaving Khushi and caught her just before she fell down.

Arnav was stunned to see her. He had not been expecting her.

"Are you crazy Khushi? Did you come alone at this time?" he questioned her, angry at her indiscretion, and worried for her safety.

"I couldn't see you upset Sirji", she panted, "Lalitha Di is close to my Bua, it would look bad if I didn't go with her", she said.

"She even asked me why you were not happy to send me back? She told me..." Khushi bit her lip unable to proceed further.

"Did she say anything wrong to you Khushi?, Arnav was angry

"No, Sirji", she interrupted him, with a hand on his chest, calming him down, "Lalitha Di told me.. she told me... that it looks like.. you are possessive about me and that she doesn't understand why. She said since you are the Raizada Saab, I have to be careful around you"

"Of course I am possessive about you and I don't like people poking their noses in our relationship Khushi", Arnav snapped.

"Sirji, people do not know us, they cannot understand what is between us," she tried to reason with him.

"Do you understand what is between us Khushi?" he asked seriously

He was surprised at his intense feelings towards Khushi as he started understanding them better now ... slowly...

"I..I..." she stuttered

Arnav was furious when she stammered. "How dare you Khushi?" he roared, "After all this time, you don't think there is anything between us? What do you call this closeness then? Does it mean nothing to you?" He sounded angry and distressed.

Khushi could not take his hurt. She hugged him tight and said, "I love you Sirji"

Arnav looked at the beautiful nymph before him; Hearing her proclaim her love for him, he was euphoric. He hauled her close, pushed his thick fingers into her hair, lifting her head up with his right hand, caught her lips.

As the intensity of his kiss increased, he placed his left hand on the concavity of her back, and lifted her up bodily, pulling her even closer if possible. He ravished her mouth thoroughly, biting and nipping her lips. When he felt her legs turn like jelly, he caught her and took her to the bed.

He seated her on the bed gently, sat down next to her with one knee on the floor, lifted her face up to meet her eyes and said sincerely "I love you too Khushi"

Khushi was over the moon. Though she knew how he felt about her, she was stunned to hear him admit that.

Arnav still had to ask, he was not completed placated, "Tell me Khushi, what do you feel about our relationship?" he probed.

Khushi didn't want to spoil the pleasant moments that they just shared. "Sirji, let it go", she requested

"No, Khushi, I want to know", he persisted, "What do you think of our relation, what do you call this between us", He moved his index finger between them, "Does it even matter to you?

"It matters a lot to me Sirji, It really does", she reiterated

"Then why do you care about what others think about this Khushi?"

"Because.." she hesitated

"Because, what Khushi?" he was irked, "say it dammit, I need to know"

"Our relationship does not have a name Sirji, This kind of relation is forbidden by society here, If people come to know about us, I will be called..."

"Called what?"

"Your mistress," Khushi blurted out, "people will think I trapped you or sold myself to you for your wealth," Khushi had tears in her eyes as she said this, "When my Bua hears from Lalitha Di, even she is going to say the same thing. Even my parents and Payal Jiji too", Khushi's voice choked as she said these.

"Khushi...", he started,

"Devi Maiyya would say the same thing too Sirji", she interrupted him.

Arnav couldn't tolerate her humiliation and tears.

Pulling her out of the bed, he hugged her tight.

"No Khushi, You are not my mistress- you are the queen that rules my heart", he said, "I am sorry I didn't realize these things affect you so much Khushi, he apologized, with a determined look in his eyes, "Come with me"

He gently tried stabilizing her, but when she swooned, he picked her up in his arms and walked out of the mansion. Picking the keys up on the way, he carried her straight to his white SUV. Depositing her tenderly on the passenger seat, he drove away.

"Sirji", Khushi was scared, "where are you taking me?"

"Stay put Khushi, do not move", he ordered, "I want you to sit back and close your eyes, "I will get you back home after sometime"

When Khushi opened her eyes in a few minutes, they were in Devidhura, a famous temple around 10 kms from Nainital.

The temple was adorned with beautiful flowers and looked festive. No one was present as it was night fall.

Arnav looked at Khushi intensely, "This is who you believe in, right?"

As Khushi nodded her head in confusion, he took a pinch of Sindhoor and applied it in her hair partition.

Khushi's eyes widened understanding his action, as she lifted her right hand to touch it, he held her right hand in his.

"Khushi, sweetheart", he spoke seriously, "In the presence of this deity that you believe and value so much, I accept you wholeheartedly as my wife", he took his right hand to her hair partition and touched the area gently with his thumb, "from this very moment"

Khushi was overwhelmed, "but...but you don't believe in marriag..."

"Shh", he interrupted her, "my beliefs do not matter. I want to establish this relationship between us. I want you to know where you stand in my life. I can never ever see you dishonored"

Khushi ran into his arms and hugged him tight, as tears of joy ran all over her.

When Arnav brought her back to Raizada Mansion, it was past midnight.

"Stay back baby", Arnav implored as she requested him to take her back to her home.

As she looked up at him stunned, he said, "I would never force you to do anything against your will Khushi, And you know that!"

"I know, but if anyone notices my absence at my place, it might be a problem," Khushi said with a teasing smile, clearly not frightened anymore.

He noticed that she looked more confident about her place in his life and was not scared of gossip either. Arnav felt relieved and pleased.

"Khushi," he drawled raising his eyebrows, "I will shut them up the moment they speak anything against my wife"

The word 'wife' brought goosebumps all over her skin. Khushi could feel her skin burn up at his stare. She lowered her eyes as he lifted her hand to his mouth to kiss it.

"Sirji...," she stammered as she remembered something, "Can I ask you something?"

"What is it honey", he murmured completely lost in her touch.

"My Amma and Babuji are still in the hospital; Babuji's health is fragile, can we wait until Babuji comes home so I can tell him about our marriage. Until then..."

"Until then?" he rasped

"Can we keep our relation a secret?" she beseeched him

"You are pushing the limits of my patience Khushi", Arnav was vexed, "I want you with me as soon as possible, Make sure that you talk to your father soon", he said sternly.

"Thank you"

"I'll drop you home now, but I want you back first thing in the morning", he said to his missus.

She smiled as she nodded.

As the first rays of the sun hit Nainital, Khushi tiptoed into Arnav's room on the third floor to wake him up. As she kissed him tenderly on his cheek remembering their hushed nuptials the previous night, he pulled her onto his body.

"Sirji", she complained, "I have to go back to the kitchen, Let me go please"

"Why did you come here then Khushi?"

"To see how..." she hesitated

"How..." Arnav imitated her, "Go on, I want to hear"

"How... my... My husband is sleeping"

"Oh really, husband huh?" Arnav was glad to hear it from her mouth for the very first time, it was a very pleasurable feeling.

"Which husband... the one you left last night and ran away from?" he teased

"Nahi... I..."

"Last night was supposed to be our wedding night Khushi", Arnav said in all seriousness as Khushi blushed deep red.

He turned her around abruptly on the bed as she now lay underneath him and said intensely, "I want you Khushi"

Khushi turned scarlet at the desire in his eyes. As Arnav came closer with his eyes on her lips, she did not want to stop him anymore.

Arnav bent down and took her lips in a long sensual kiss, he was painfully turned on looking at the fairy in his arms... the one waiting and willing to be ravished in his bed.

As Arnav slowly relieved her and himself off the clothes, Khushi was very embarrassed, though she could feel herself desiring more and more of his blatant touches.

Arnav kissed every inch of her body, biting in places of interest. He was completely aroused at her hesitation, yet her willingness to complete the union. After the initial foreplay to prepare her, he spread her thighs gently and plunged into her as Khushi cried out in raw ecstacy. She latched onto his strong arms as she was thrown into a myriad of sensations reaching the zenith. Arnav released into her and collapsed soon after in a sweaty pool on her bosom.

NOTE (FOR EASY READING):

  • Narrations: In Black

  • Flashbacks: In Green Italics

BACK TO PRESENT:

(Present Timeline-In Nagpur) This is a continuation from Part-9 (III):

"Please call Khushi", ... "this is Arnav Singh Raizada"

"Sir ji... aap?" Khushi looked dazed, "here?"

"Khushi, I let you come here to talk to the Vade couple in person", Arnav drawled, "Will you at least answer me now Khushi?"

Sameer and others watched the interaction between Arnav and Khushi.

Dr.Vanitha Vade stepped forward and said, "Please make yourself comfortable Mr.Raizada", "I will answer all your questions"

As Arnav and Sameer sat down in the living room of Dr. Vade's in Nagpur, Dr.Vanitha Vade started talking, "Please do not interrupt me Mr.Raizada"

"We found Khushi in the Chorsa valley near Nainital. Dr.Sergal was my husband's student who was conducting a medical camp along with his friends for the tribal people in the area. It was pure luck that he wanted to hike and ventured deep into the valley when he found Khushi. Khushi was hurt- more to say close to dead with fractures of a couple of ribs and sternum. She had bruises all over and had lost consciousness"

Vanitha gave a small pause to let the information sink into Arnav.

"Sergal carried her back to the camp where they tried to treat her, but she required more intensive treatment. Sergal called my husband and told him about the case. Once Khushi was moved to Delhi, she was treated in our friend's hospital for a while. As Khushi regained consciousness, she was very scared for her life. She kept asking if anyone knew her whereabouts..."

Vanitha looked at Khushi asking her to take it from there..

"It.. It was Shyam", Khushi said

"Who?", Arnav and Sameer said at the same time

"He..", Khushi swallowed, "He stalked me when I was studying in Bareilly a few years ago, "He is not normal, he is crazy. He has been obsessed with me, we even got a restraining order, but he could not be stopped"

Arnav fisted his knuckles white as his anger on the faceless monster rose.

"What did he do Khushi?" Arnav asked thinning his lips

"He.." Khushi closed her eyes tight, "He.. tried to kidnap me"

"Payal Jiji's engagement was fixed with a guy from Chandausi. Buaji had already picked up my parents from the hospital and took them to the groom's place. As I had to get a few things from home for the function, I started from Nainital to Chandausi via Rampur. Rajesh, my distant cousin, accompanied me on my trip. When we stopped the taxi on the way for snacks, Shyam found us"

Khushi shivered as she thought of the devil, "He tried abducting me and when I shouted for help, he told the people around us that he was my husband and taking me home with him. When nobody would come forward to help me thinking that it is a domestic dispute, I was dead scared. Rajesh tried stopping Shyam but Shyam was way stronger and the people blamed Rajesh that he was coming in between a couple. That was when Rajesh lied to everyone that he was, in fact, my husband and Shyam was the kidnapper. People were stunned at the sudden change and asked me who my husband was. To escape from the monster, I told them that Rajesh indeed was my husband."

Khushi took a deep breath, "That's when all hell broke loose. He.. Shyam... was beyond angry when I called Rajesh my husband. He threw Rajesh on the ground and punched him hard. He disfigured Rajesh. People pulled him off of Rajesh but Shyam had brute strength. He had a few explosives hidden nearby, and he used them on people there. He threw some explosives on the nearby hills, causing havoc everywhere"

When Khushi took a break to reign in her emotions, Sameer added, "Our recent investigation revealed that the explosives caused a few boulders to roll down due to the impact and some people died. There was complete chaos. Three other cars were hit with the stones and explosives, eleven people were killed."

"He tried to pull me with him into the nearby forest, but when Rajesh stalled him so that I could escape, he killed Rajesh, right in front of me", Khushi broke down crying.

Arnav rushed to take her into his arms and console her. Everyone was appalled at his love for her.

"Khushi, shhh, Relax honey, he will pay for that!" he said his heart-wrenching at his beloved's agony, "We will get him", he said furious at Shyam, "We will get that b*stard Shyam"

Khushi looked up in terror.

"No Sirji", she screamed, "No..no..no..no", Khushi couldn't stop herself from hugging him tight.

"Khushi", Arnav was very surprised, "What are you saying, He killed your cousin"

"And many other people" Sameer reinforced

"No Sirji, she begged, "Please promise me that you will never go behind him"

"Khushi, but why?"

"Please, he killed so many people without as much as a second thought. He is barbaric and a psycho. I don't want him to even know that I'm alive. He killed Rajesh in front of me. I'm sure that demon is not dead in the explosions or land slide. I can't risk your life. You both mean everything to me"

"Both?" Arnav was puzzled

Khushi's eyes widened. She looked like a deer caught in headlights.

Vanitha observed how Khushi clung to Arnav, and how Arnav tried to ease her fears. She realized how deeply Arnav felt for Khushi and the magnitude of their relationship.

Vanitha stepped closer to Khushi and said, "Khushi, I think it's time..."

As Khushi nodded her head in agreement, Vanitha turned towards Arnav and said, "Mr.Raizada, when we found Khushi, she was pregnant"

Arnav was stumped. Stepping towards Khushi, he spoke in an infuriated tone, "when were you going to tell me?"

Khushi didn't know what to say. She was very apologetic. Seeing her forlorn face, Arnav asked desperately, "Baby?"

Nanditha got a sleeping 4-month old baby boy to Arnav. He looked at Khushi who nodded at him with tears in her eyes, "Arvin", she whispered

Arnav lifted the precious bundle slowly into his arms and looked at it spellbound.

"Arvin", he repeated looking at the little one in adoration. He lifted the baby up and kissed him softly on his forehead.

Arnav, for the first time in life, understood the exact meaning of 'Heaven in your arms'.

"Sirji", Khushi said amazed at the love in Arnav's eyes, "Arvin is your son..."

"Do you even have to say that Khushi?" he chided her gently

As Arnav was lost in admiring his son, Vanitha continued, "Mr.Raizada, like I said, Khushi was pregnant when we found her, moreover she was weak and scared"

Vanitha ran her fingers over Khushi affectionately, "Due to the trauma she went through, she had PTSD and panic attacks for a long time. I counselled her since it was not good for her pregnancy. Khushi was terrified that Shyam would trace her in Delhi. Hence, we moved her to Nagpur in secrecy. Since this hospital in Nagpur is ours, we managed to keep her pregnancy and delivery completely confidential to protect the baby. Our housekeeper Nanditha acted like she was pregnant, and this baby is considered hers and registered thus. I didn't want people to get suspicious and also wanted Khushi to get back to normalcy, so after the baby turned three months old, I encouraged Khushi to go work. When she found work in Bombay, we didn't want her to live all by herself. As my husband's cousin Jyothi Batra lives there alone, Khushi went to live with her"

Arnav and Sameer were stunned.

Vanitha resumed, "I'm still in touch with Shashi Gupta, Khushi's father, and I inform him occasionally about Khushi's life. Khushi didn't want them to know about Arvin, so they don't know about her pregnancy and the baby. They know about the psycho and are very wary of him. For safety reasons, Khushi doesn't stay in contact with them. They act like they are not in touch with her either, just so that man will not be able to trace her here. Her last name is a protection to hide her identity"

While Arnav closed his eyes in regret that he couldn't save her from the maniac, and that she had to suffer alone for all these months, Khushi lovingly held his hand to assure him that she was okay now.

"You have done an excellent job Mr and Mrs.Vade", Sameer said appreciatively, "I mean Doctors' Vade, he smiled, "Well thought-of plan and fool-proof, No wonder, it took me and my team a while to trace Ms. Khushi"

"Mrs.Raizada", Arnav corrected Sameer right away.

Everybody looked shocked.

"Khushi is my wife", he explained, "We got married in Nainital"

Both the Vades were amazed at the new information. Sameer now understood the real reason why Arnav was desperate to find Khushi.

Khushi turned pink as everyone stared at her.

Arnav thanked the elderly Vade couple profusely, "I cannot, ever in life, forget what you did for us. You returned my life back to me. I will forever be grateful to you for that"

"You are welcome Mr.Raizada"

"Call me Arnav please", he said

They were pleasantly surprised, having finally learnt how Arnav felt.

The little one stretched his arms and yawned beautifully.

"Let me rock him back to sleep", said Nanditha as she took the infant from the unwilling father and walked away into the bedroom.

Arnav watched the baby as he was taken out of the living room.

He turned towards the Vades and said, "I would like to take my wife and son with me"

"Arnav beta", Dr.Deepak Vade said looking at Khushi's petrified expression, "We know you are more than capable of taking care of your wife and son, but...," he paused looking at his wife, "I feel that Khushi would be safer here with us"

"Arnav", Vanitha Vade tried convincing him, "You are a public figure, always in spotlight. There is media and gossip around you all the time. Khushi and Arvin are likely to be easily exposed if they live with you. What if he sees Khushi with you?"

"Sir", Sameer intervened, "If you don't mind me saying something...", he continued as Arnav nodded his head, "what they say is absolutely right"

"We will start working on locating Shyam from now on", Sameer continued, "Once he is out of the way, you can take Mrs.Raizada and your son home"

"Sirji", Khushi said, "He is a monster, and he is obsessed. I cannot survive if he tries to hurt either of you", Khushi's voice choked, "I would rather stay away from you than lose you"

"Khushi is more than a daughter to us. She will be safe here", said Deepak Vade gently patting Arnav on his shoulder

"I would never doubt that Dr.Vade", Arnav said confidently

The initial awkwardness of the morning was replaced by a joyous atmosphere as the secrets were revealed and peace prevailed...

I am on a roll today... Keep watching for the next part soon... Triple Dhamaka...😉

PART-13:

Continued from Part-12: (Present Timeline-In Nagpur)

After spending some time with Khushi and Arvin at the Vade house, Arnav and Sameer went back to Sameer's place in Nagpur. Arnav wanted to check into a hotel, but Sameer, his loyal detective, had pulled him back to his house.

During his stay here in Nagpur to collect information on Khushi and the Vade couple, Sameer had rented a simple two-storey house. He also didn't want anyone to notice Arnav in Vade's house.

Although the Vades requested Arnav to accept their hospitality, Arnav did not want to inconvenience the gentle elderly couple. Arnav was lost in thoughts in his bedroom while Sameer called Aman and filled him in.

Khushi was lost in thoughts too. Her life had been a roller-coaster since the past 15 months, and she reminisced with a small smile how Arnav had initially put forth his indecent proposal, how she had turned it down, his accident, how they grew close to each other after his accident, how he requested her to move to Delhi with him, how she had refused, how he regularly commuted from Delhi to Nainital to see her, how they fell in love, and their secretive marriage and consummation...

The cry of the little one pulled her out of her thoughts...

As Khushi cooed to the baby in her arms, Vanitha walked in.

"Khushi, are you happy beta? You were always worried how Arnav would react to the news of baby", she said affectionately, "I think he has taken it pretty well"

"He has Maa", Khushi said, "but I'm not sure if his anger has completely abated, I am scared to think what he would say when we are alone"

"He has every right to the anger beta", Vanitha said, "but he loves you a lot, And that is what matters", Vanitha continued, "He also understood the seriousness of the situation"

"He is ready to accept you as his wife in front of the whole world", Vanitha chuckled, "It is now you who is pulling him back"

Khushi shied beautifully

"I'm scared Maa", she confessed

"Scared that Shyam will find out if your relationship with Arnav becomes public?"

"Yes, and..." Khushi hesitated

"And... what else Khushi?"

"He wanted me to move in with him", Khushi admitted, "He has such a powerful persona and presence, And as much as I love him, I'm scared how my life would be with him"

Vanitha laughed graciously at Khushi's fears.

"Typically, girls would feel this during Bidaai", she smiled, "At least in my generation they did", She tried teasing Khushi, "Do you realize how desperate he was to meet you that he traced you all the way here to Nagpur?", she added, "I do not think you have anything to worry at all Khushi"

Khushi was convinced.

She was transported back in time when she lived in Nainital, She remembered all her interactions with him. Khushi believed in love and marriage; she could not, even though she loved him a lot, compromise on her values. He had given in to everything she wanted, even though he didn't believe in them, just to show her how much he loved and respected her wishes.

A thrill shot up her spine at the thought of living with him as his wife.

At Sameer's place, Nagpur

Arnav had been going back and forth on the information given to him by Dr.Vanitha Vade. He connected the dots. He now knew what had actually transpired and why Khushi had disappeared. He needed more information on Shyam.

"I need to protect my wife and son from that b*stard, at any cost"

"Come what may, I have to keep her near me", he contemplated,"I will never let her go through any more suffering, "Since she cannot move in with me, I should at least keep her close to me at work, so I can watch people around her".

He needed to make a few calls.

Arnav saw Aman calling him on his cell phone

"How are you doing sir?" he asked

"I am fine Aman"

"Congratulations on fatherhood ASR", Aman genuinely congratulated him, "Sameer detailed me on the information"

Arnav felt a rush of affection for his loyal PA who had stuck with him through his darkest moments, "Thank you Aman, You should see Arvin sometime, he is very... beautiful"

"Definitely sir", Aman was surprised at the way ASR talked about his son, "I would love to meet the little ASR sometime"

Arnav laughed hard.

"Sir, would you like to stay back in the Mumbai for a while before you come back to Delhi?"

Aman had read his boss's mind precisely

"Thanks Aman", Arnav couldn't help smiling, "I want to ensure Khushi's safety first"

"I understand ASR, Aman continued, "At ARB please make sure that no one gets a whiff of your association with Khushi Mam"

"Until we figure out where the monster is, it is imperative that my relationship with Khushi stays a secret", Arnav confirmed.

Aman couldn't agree more.

The next morning:

Khushi got a call from her manager Atul in Tech designs to report back to work as soon as possible.

Knowing exactly who was behind this call, Khushi smiled.

Khushi told the Vade couple that she would be travelling to Bombay soon. As she was getting ready for the trip, Arnav called Khushi.

"Khushi, How is Arvin doing?",

"He is fine Sirji, he just had milk and went to sleep", Khushi smiled at Arnav's longing for his son

"Hmm...I'm planning to go to Bombay today, what about you?"

"I'm planning to go too. I have my train ticket for tonight"

"Be ready in a couple of hours, I'll come pick you up"

"But Sirji", Khushi was surprised, "How can we travel together?, What if someone sees us?"

"We are flying in our private jet", he said coolly, "We will be concealed, don't worry"

"But...", Khushi was unsure

"No more butts Khushi", he smiled at the innuendo, "be ready and I'll pick you up"

Later that evening, as Arnav helped Khushi into the jet, Khushi was excited, yet apprehensive and kept asking questions, all of which Arnav answered patiently with an indulgent smile on his lips.

Once seated inside the plane, Arnav leaned close to her and said, "I missed you Khushi...", he added, "last night".

Khushi knew exactly what he meant, and that brought a rosy hue on her face. Arnav entwined her fingers with his and bringing her hand up to his mouth, kissed it ardently.

"I want to know more about Arvin", he asked her

Khushi was moved, "I am sorry I did not tell you about Arvin Sirji", she apologized, "but I was scared for his life and yours"

"Don't you trust me Khushi?" he asked painfully, "why did you stay away from me for so long, Don't you think I am capable of protecting my wife and son?"

Khushi immediately put her palm against his mouth, "Don't say that Sirji, I know you are more than capable of taking care of us, but...but I was scared for your life, If he can kill Rajesh brutally just because I said that Rajesh was my husband, what would he do to you if he found out that I was, in reality, married to you and bore you a son?"

Khushi got very emotional, "What about little Arvin? What if he tries to hurt him?"

"Shhh Khushi, I understand, Don't worry that rascal will never be able to come close to our son"

He held her hand tightly in his, as she leaned her head on his shoulder. He kissed her hair softly as he put his other hand around her, pulling her close.

"Remember Khushi, the last time we met in Nainital?", He asked

"Yes, this was a few weeks after our marriage", she added misty-eyed

"Yes, and you didn't want me to tell anyone until you convinced your father"

"Yes, and you got angry with me on that", she raised her eyes and looked at him

"I sure did", he said smiling

"And you would travel every weekend, sometimes even more if possible from Delhi to see me", "And everytime you would not let me go without ...", a pink colour formed on her neck and face exciting him.

"Without ...making love", Arnav supplied as he moved closer and tugged at her earlobe with his teeth.

"Sirji", Khushi blushed even more, "Not here"

Arnav pulled her chin up with his hand and kissed her hard on her lips.

"The last time we met in Nainital, I was called away to London for a few important meetings", he continued

"Yes, you said you will come back to see me in two weeks", Khushi said in a sad tone

"And when I came back", Arnav ground his teeth in anger, "they said you died in a landslide"

"Sirji", Khushi tried to ease his pain

"I was devastated Khushi", he admitted for the first time, "I came back excited to see you and they said you were dead. How dare they Khushi?" Arnav held Khushi's hand very hard without realizing that she was wincing in pain.

"I refused to accept it, I searched for you, I started drinking even more, finally I lost interest in life"

Khushi gasped in horror.

"That's when Aman took me to a psychiatrist", Arnav resumed, "he prescribed anti-depressants and anti-psychotics, We kept it completely under wraps as we didn't want my Di or Dadi to know about this"

Khushi took his hand and kissed it gently.

"I couldn't stay there anymore Khushi, I left to London, I came back to Delhi 3 months later but I never went back to Nainital"

"Then why did you search for me Sirji, when you thought I was dead?" Khushi asked innocently

"A month after I came back, I got a call from Nainital", Arnav looked at a puzzled Khushi

"Nainital?"

"Yes, sweetheart, that's when I came to know that you are alive"

"Who called you?"

"Your sister, Payal"

"Jiji?"

"Yes, Payal said she felt bad for me, she knew that we both love each other, She told me that you are alive, but she didn't know where you were, and your parents and Buaji were very tight-lipped about you. This relaxed me a lot. And that's when my search for you began"

"Aman was my only confidante in this matter, He got Sameer involved. Sameer searched high and low for you but couldn't find you, Again it was Payal who gave me the last name you were using, that's how we traced you", Arnav concluded

"When you left to London for 15 days, I was very sad. Payal Jiji told me that she knew this was about you, She told me that I was taking a huge risk associating myself with you, And that you may not be serious about me or your interest in me may wear off soon. Then, I told her that you married me in the temple, she was stunned, but felt very happy. I made her promise that she will guard the secret", Khushi explained

"So, she knew about our marriage?" Arnav smiled, "No wonder she called me multiple times to give information about you"

For a few minutes, they sat in affable tranquility

"I have to tell you something sweetheart", Arnav remembered, "Dadi and Di had no idea what was going on with me, but they sensed that I was very restless, and started pressurizing me to get married. Di was more understanding but Dadi wanted to see the next Raizada heir, so after Di went back to her house in Banglore, Dadi stayed back with me for a couple of months"

Khushi paid rapt attention as he went on.

"Having lost you, I was in no mood to enjoy life. My time was spent primarily in searching for you. Sameer had a secret team that worked to find you, and I was constantly in touch with them over phones to see if they found anything. I worked very hard, and drove everyone crazy, even Aman", Arnav chuckled

"Dadi didn't like my lifestyle at all, she was concerned. She would never find me at home, and I wouldn't want to go home either as I didn't want to be nagged by her about marriage. This angered her even more"

Arnav looked at Khushi and said seriously, "She proposed my marriage with her best friend's granddaughter Tina. When I refused, without my knowledge, she went and got the Roka (engagement) done. Tina was smitten by me; Her family was more than happy for the Roka that they didn't care about my absence. Di did not approve of my Dadi's methods but thought that Dadi had done it in my best interests"

Khushi looked horrified, "so...so... you are engaged Sirji?"

"No, no, honey, there is only one person that I am engaged to or married to- And that is you", he emphasized

"Khushi", Arnav called her knowing she must be hurting

"Sweetheart, please look at me", he begged her. He gently turned her head towards him and looked her in the eye

"I want you to know that I love you Khushi. I have not been a gentleman before but ever since I confessed my love to you that night, I have been completely loyal to you. I do not want you to ever misunderstand me and I do not want anyone to ever get in between us. Please trust me Khushi"

"Your family", she asked, "Will they be angry with me?"

"I will take care of that Khushi", he said firmly, "there might be some initial resistance, but they will relent"

"I will still wait before I let them know about you and Arvin. If they get to know that there is such a threat existing, they might resist to our relationship more", Arnav thought out loud

Khushi nodded her head.

"All hell broke loose when Dadi actually brought Tina to Raizada Mansion in Delhi. Dadi said she wanted to set me right, she thought if I had a romantic interest I would be easier to handle, that I would be willing to come home more often. Dadi threatened to break her relationship with me if I didn't let Tina stay at my place"

Khushi inhaled a sharp breath in fear.

"I made it very clear to Tina, then and there, that she would mean nothing to me and she had to stay out of my personal life. Dadi, however, was victorious and thought I would change with time"

"Khushi", he said as he took her face between his palms, "Both of us come from completely different backgrounds, we were raised differently, we have different ideologies, but the bond between us is indestructible. I want you to believe me baby"

As Khushi nodded her head, he moved his head forward and covered her lips. Closing her eyes, Khushi gave herself into it completely.

Gosh, another long update! This is getting addictive! Next one will be up sooon...
