Hey
Tailap and Jhakkala's scene was very intense indeed and both actors did a fab job.
Now coming to what points both put across in their argument
As per Tailap he has never been in love with Jhakkala...their marriage was more of a political alliance...All he has got from her throughout the life is 'aarop and pratyarop' and nothing else...He has never misbehaved with her and has given her respect that a wife deserves...Kosha is his 'love' and he feels that his and Jhakkala's relation is more of a weight as there is only bitterness left.
Now coming to Jhakkala - She has every damn right to be upset, to demand what is her's, she is his wife and thus can't stand if he brings any other woman in their life...She tells him..'ek patni ke lie uska pati aham hota hai aur apne mujhse mera aham cheen lia'
Her ego is hurt..she is his wife..it doesn't matter if he has given her the reset of a wife what she expects is that her husband should be her's..her place should be her's and no one else's
Guru Aditya was right when he said that a king could have another woman but to keep Jhakkala's respect he should make Kosha stay outside the palace...he was right coz this was 9th century..if this happened today Jhakkala would have divorced Tailap as extra marital affair is not justifiable at all today and polygamy is a crime.
Jhakkala burnt the brothel and Tailap brought Kosha inside the palace to give her protection...not sure if he did that to protect Kosha or make Jhakkala suffer for her mistake
If this was 21st century both would have taken a divorce for sure since there isn't much left in their relation...I am not even sure if there was anything in their relation ever because both don't seem compatible at all nature wise..it seems Tailap was never in love with her as the marriage was a political alliance
They are stuck because those times were different...what we are seeing are characters of 9th century where polygamy was practiced openly and keeps were very common who used to stay in harems...Bajirao-Mastani-Kashi, or Rawal Ratan Singh and Padmavati etc. and many others had multiple wives
What Tailap needs to understand is what Jhakkala is going through...He needs to acknowledge her pain and understand that as a wife she feels threatened.
If he really wants to be with Kosha then as a husband he needs to assure Jhakkala that her position will not be threatened
Tailap is thinking about protecting Kosha but fails to see the need to give the same protection and assurance to Jhakkala as well..this is his duty as a husband
