Draupadi - Wil there be a Rupa Ganguly?

I know there is a poll going around about Draupadi's roll. Gauri or Anita.

Personally, I dont think either of the actresses are good choices. Gauri and Anita are both talented and beautiful but I dont think they can convincingly portray Draupadi.

Rupa Ganguly was mind blowing in the original. Till date of course the lady is a fantastic actress but she had that "akad" in her as well. I am going to be pointing out a very tiny inconsequential episode in the myriad of episodes that Mahabharat has, Caught it a couple of months ago on Rajshri. It is the episode in which Jayadrat(Duryodhan's bro-in-law) decides to abduct Draupadi in the forest. At first she yells saying how can he even think of it she is the wife of someone and not any ordinary person's wife she is the king's wife. Then the "akad" comes in full force as to how he even thought of such a thing. Then well he abducts her and she is crying. Then arjun and bheem turn up and the "akad" is back again with her saying do you recognize these arrows. They are arjun's rather from the gandiv bow. Then Jaydrat is taken to yudhister. bheem, arjun, and even nakul and sahdev just want to kill the guy. yudhister being the rigteous man he is, asks Draupadi. She at once mentions Duryodhan's sister and says we cant kill him but let's punish him. AMAZING. the number of emotions the character portrays in this small sequence of events is absolutely amazing. Of course there are other episodes in which she is SUPERLATIVE but this is just something tiny. At the moment I cant even think of anyone who can actually take on the role that Rupa Ganguly enacted so fabulously. It's going to be difficult to fill her shoes.

Was wondering if you guys had any other opinions? I cant think of anyone who has that "akad" in her.

I think you are absolutely right. No one can match Rupa Ganguly as Draupadi

your right, but i think sakshi tanwer could play that role though, but thy have chosen her for the role of kunti.

as for anita & gauri they need to show a range emotions plus

if you think about it, they should pick shweta tiwari for this role who i think can do what rupa can do.

Only one who can match Rupa (Draupadi) is Prerna of KZK.

yes piklooo, ekta kapoor apparently is planning to start make the mahabharat.

also totally agree that nothing can beat the original.

and also agree that everyone on tv right now have a certain image and so it will be difficult to imagine them in the mahabharat kind of roles.

for someone that powerful as Draupadi the 3 original stalwarts of ekta's soaps would have probably been ideal, namely either smriti, sakshi or shweta but well it will be a little weird when they have people who are playing their sons or grandsons in the K soaps play the pandavas. funny considering that the actresses themselves are young, but the image in our heads is now unfortunately that of an older woman which messes things up.

smriti doesnt suit draupadi at all,

shweta suits draupadi if you think about it her character in kzk is very similar

i think the best choice for draupadi would be shweta salve beautiful and out spoken
