EDT~ep. 84~15.2.18 My stance. Speak of the devil..
The saying goes if one speaks of the devil, he manifests himself .The devil in many faiths is perecieved as a subordinate, demonic, evil spirit. In human form a wicked and malvolent person is often seen as the devil himself. One faith depicts the devil as the fallen angel. One who out of all angels in heaven,dared to compete, even better himself from god himself. Hence for his arrogance, he was banished from paradise into the deepest dark recesses of the earth!
Today's episode reminds me of a battle for power between god himself and devil as the fallen angel.Vyom comes across as the fallen from grace angel, before the mighty Rajan. Face to face both are like a pair of proud antelopes with horns interlocked. In this battle which strong one will over power the weaker one?
Shiv, encourages Sharanya to reach out for, and support Rati. To me Shiv also tries to ensure,that after he leaves, Sharanya has someone within the family to act as her buttress.
Vyom is given yet a fresh epithet, "the devil by Rati too.Only this devil is not fictious but alive and part of the family. Poor woman needn't speak about Vyom,only think's about him and Rati is paralyzed by threat and fear. Just a few stratgies an evil one uses to control virtuous people for standing up for the truth. Like the devil Vyom lies left,right and centre ! through the fear he injects into Rati to lie before Sharanya, the reason for her fear and panic. Reaching out to Rati is not going to be easy. The devils hold is strong upon her. The mother within her fears for the safety of her child. Vyom sure knows well,which buttons to press on whom? to stop them from talking. Both women,Sharanya and Rati know who they are up against. Rati rather not speak of the devil, In case he does show up! but its interesting to see how both know Vidyut is dead and that Sharanya didn't kill him.. Sharanya's patience in dealing with Rati's fearful reluctance ,eventually pays off as Rati begins to give way,and Shranaya finds out about the video Sagar the murdered police man showed her.. One reason that Rati sccumbs before Sharanya and fails to abide by Vyom's imposed option, is the fear of Avni , hers and further more deaths at the hands of the devil! See the devil puts the fear of death in humans. Humans would any time chose their own life over death. Vyom too plays on this human weakness.
Now that people are on him like sniffer dogs!that are searching for secrets buried in his mind! Vyom's dark humour never dies, he keeps himself cheerful at all times! More so at the expense of his devil may care attitude !wife. He chuckles,he needn't fear the evil spirit,as it will not be keeping tabs on him, but shadowing Sharanya.The devil, is forever elusive and divulges mostly. Instead of mulling over how he terrorized Rati? he digresses and muses over Shiv haunting his home and his life once again!
A call,rather summons from one higher than the fallen angel ! hence on to the most powerful scene of the episode today.
The ring of fire! Cuts out the whole world. Just two of a kind, father and son face each other! Both equate well with the phrase,speak of the devil ! and you'll find him before you, looking straight in the eye!
Rajan exerts his authority upon Vyom. A slap across Vyom's face is a reminder to the son, about his lesser status before his father. For Vyom who looks up in utter innocence into his fathers face, its an expression that tells the story straight. He is the way he is,because he only follows his role model.. his dear,loving father! Like Rajan, Vyom too, ducks, evades every accusation his father hurls at him! In fact, Vyom tries to digress his father, by threatening to show his real madness! With kerosene, he devilishly, outlines a ring of fire and sets it alight! With pure wickedness, Vyom enjoys, when his father, looks shocked, at his son's audacity! To set his own father on fire! But in great style Vyom, averts the firey scenario and puts the blame on Shiv! the spirit has returned! With great skill, he jusifies, threatening and scaring Rati! killing Sagar! and for killing Vidyut the dirty old man!for having evil intentions over Sharanya! Rajan pulls him down, roughs him up and even wrenches Vyom's raw nerve, his madness, his obsession for Sharanya,that's turned him into a brute! To Rajan he crosses all limits! To Vyom,its , fine lines coming from his father! Since, he too character wise is not clean as a slate. Rajan dithers and avoids references to his past.. buried in the lake, near the lake side? Vyom is smart, he knows his father well, more so his weakness. Vyom is the chip of the old block! A liar, cheat, murderer , fraudster. So when Rajan preaches to Vyom,its like the blind leading the blind. The ring of fire, holds two slinging blames at each other! Vyom is shrewd enough to remind his father, in this moral lecturing duel.. to every misdeed, crime, heinous or otherwise, Rajan Bedi, has been Vyom Bedi's partner in crime!
In this ring of fire,Rajan as a father, faces the accountability of his son's misdeeds. Vyom is like a dangerous notebook to Rajan's recent crimes too. Regret sets in his heart, his wife Madhvi was right, in alerting him..
Rajan looks for excuses, blame game on another to get out of this ring of fire where both him and his son are trapped in a furnace of shared crimes! No surprise that in panic, Rajan's way out is to kill Sharanya! The love of Vyom's life! but one who turned his son Vyom from a lover into a brute! Rajan's cry is for how long as a father can he act as Vyom's protective sheild? Not for long as his son will drag him down to earth too! Vyom too blames his mother for turning his father against Sharanya! He will sort her out to if required!
Infact he threats Rajan Bedi ,he has not seen Vyom's madness yet when it comes to protecting Sharanya! He will set the world on fire!and all in it !who dares cross his path! Rajan interlocks his horns with his son's.. with the dark reminder for Vyom! he needs to remember where his madness for the woman he loves stems from???? His father Rajan Bedi!..
We see two men , each fighting a battle to protect the woman they love with a passion! Each guility of taking their madness in love, well out of order! Nothing short of reducing both father and son into a pair of brutes.. two fallen angels..if you ask me..
This father and son partnership are rapidly finishing lives to keep their dark scerets buried under a thick blanket of lies and more lies just to stay afloat.
Sharanya and Rati is one partnership which will now hopefully battle evil and expose the dark secrets, buried in the mysterious tomb of Bedi house.. hamlet53 16.2.18
Powerful episode! Without a doubt it belongs to the fantastic actor Amar and Vikram,both brought out the best in each other as father and son..
