Akshay Kumar's upcoming film, PadMan has generated the right buzz around it. The film aims to normalize the conversation around menstruation. Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna have started a chain of PadMan challenge, in which celebrities are tagged and they have to post a photo with a sanitary napkin in their hands.
Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and many other celebrities have already taken the PadMan challenge. Today, Mallika Dua took a sly dig on the film's promotions and wrote on her social media account, "Always remember, each time you feel weak, each time you feel lesser than your equals, each time you feel you've been made to feel lesser for no reason and that the fight has just begun...When you feel society and the govt havenot given you your due, hold up a sanitary pad and post a picture of it on instagram. You will feel empowered. So empowered. Bye
For the uninitiated, Akshay Kumar and Mallika Dua worked together on the comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. In one of the episodes, Akshay had allegedly passed a vulgar remark at Mallika Dua. Her father, Vinod Dua had then posted on social media, "I am going to screw this cretin Akshay Kumar for telling his co-worker Mallika Dua that 'Aap bell bajao, main aap ko bajata hun' (You ring the bell, I will bang you)... This is his sense of humour and language... Star Plus... Wake up.
Twinkle Khanna was also dragged in the debate and had written a strongly worded post. She had later retracted her statements and apologized for her error in judgment.
