Y'all don't know how promotions work. Anything that could catch a moment's attention is worth it. Today unfortunately the attention span of the gen ppl aint something to write home about so anything that needs to done to catch someone's attention about an important issue, one that harms literally noone,is something worth it. Am not sure how many men would sit and hear a long lecture about menstruation, even from their favorite stars. So this was kinda a genius move.
And not to be that person, they bought those pads with their own money. Literally noone has the right to tell them what to do with it.

The reason behind clicking a picture with pad is showing that yes we know about periods and it is a normal thing and not something to be ashamed of.
General public learns from the celebs only. So if celebs post with pad, trying to convey that there is nothing wrong in it. People still consider it as something that cannot be discussed, so this thing going around is a tiny effort from Padman team to normalise it.

Of course the main motive is promoting the movie and you have to be an absolute novice to think otherwise. But if a little awareness is spread what is the harm?? Even if unwittingly something good is happening.

Also I am aware of this campaign side effects. Like some ass might troll women offline by doing stupid.

Yes better options were there like distribution of pads in rural areas and than posting with those people in insta. But let's be honest, money minded BW people mostly do charity for show. But even if a single life is changed because of this farce, nothing is lost.

yeah as if all those people in rural area , where to even take the name of pads or periods is a crime, are going to come on twitter and see all these celebs posing with picture and be alright .." oh look akshay kumar has a pad in his hand so let's talk to women in our family which brand they want " 😆

But this is not just rural place taboo.
It is also a taboo even in small towns and urban areas. Which obviously have access to social media.
As I said there were better options like carrying out awareness campaigns in rural areas. But that would asking for too much.

I agree with this. But every time a celeb promotes social ills through his movie we take a U-turn and say cinema entertainment ke liye hai, cinema halls paathshala nahin hai.

Nah. I don't think thats the motive here lol. Its all about the shock + curiosity factor. Why are these celebs holding sanitary napkins. Also I feel this normalises it for a lot of fans. Periods and pads are never ever discussed anywhere in our mainstream movies or stars even though it's an actual reality for women. And well a lot of these fans are from middle class families where discussion of this is still a huge taboo.

I am not saying we should give credit to celebs for this campaign, but just about the aftermath and the positive impact this campaign might(big word as it might fail completely) have.
Obviously there are negative effects. Like this very campaign may have some guys harassing girls by mockingly asking about periods when they are not comfortable discussing it. Or by gifting them pads for making parody of this campaign.
