Upcoming Holiday Releases(Till 2020)

We have just completed a month in 2018 and almost all the holidays of 2019 have been booked already. Lets have a look at the announced movies till date on holiday in future:

2018:
Republic Day - Padmaavat (Released already)
Holi - Drive, Parmanu, Hate Story 4 & Pari (Expecting some postpones though)
Eid - Race 3
Independence Day - Gold
Gandhi Jayanti - Untitled Next of Vishal Bhardwaj starring Deepika Padukone & Irrfan Khan
Diwali - Thug of Hindostan
Christmas - Zero

2019:
Republic Day - Super 30
Holi - Kesari
Eid - Bharat
Independence Day - Brahmastra
Gandhi Jayanti - YRF Next starring Hrithik & Tiger
Diwali - Housefull 4
Christmas - KICK 2

2020:
Eid - Dabangg (Rumoured)
Christmas - Krrish 4

One of the main reason for so advance booking is because of the recent Clashes and Film-makers want to be safe by booking the release before anybody else can even think abt it and fixing some deals with Distributors and Exhibitors reducing the risk in case somebody decides to clash.

and Because of this, if any producer plans to release his movie on holiday, he will either have to wait for 2 years (2020) or will have to clash with one of these.

Now the Big Question is- Is it right to book the date so early ?? Because this is just a beginning. In the upcoming years, we may witness next 5 years holidays being already booked.

Drive and Parmanu have been already postponed. Sui Dhaaga is also releasing on Gandhi Jayanti 2018.

It doesn't even matter if these filmmakers announce their film first because somebody else would want their movie on that holiday period. In other words clashes can happen. An example is Ajay announced Shivaay two years in advance for Diwali 2016 then KJO wanted his film on that period as well.

So Housefull 4 is announced for Diwali, right? Ajay already has Tanaji which he said 2019 will release although he didn't mention the month. He said he wants to complete the shooting first before making the announcement.

I know its too early to predict but I know Ajay likes having big movies released on Diwali. So I won't be suprised if is Tanaji vs Housefull 4...NEVER SAY NEVER.

Agreed, but another reason for early announcement can be - that other movies which DOES NOT intend to have a holiday release shall release their movie keeping some gaps of these movies so that they all get enough run

Few things to note:

1. Drive is not releasing on Holi, will apparently release late April (27th). Hate Story 4 is postponed to 9h March

2. Baaghi 2 starring Tiger Shroff has Easter weekend release (2 holidays)

3. October starring Varun got Vaisakhi/Regional New Years holiday release.

4. Sui Dhaaga starring Varun & Anushka has solo release on Gandhi Jayanti which is a film made to promote Gandhi's teachings.

5. Junglee directed under Hollywood director's format. Starring Vidyut Jamwal. releasing on Dussehra

6. Kedarnath starring Sushant Singh Rajput & Sara Ali Khan is supposed to release on Christmas along with Zero

7. Shiddat starring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sridevi & Sanjay Dutt releases Easter weekend in 2019.
