Hlarious the way the ones who did not watch the movie keep claiming she got a raw deal. Watch it and you will know the whole movie was about Khilji and Padma. Padmavati was the hero of the movie especially second half.
Movie is a tremedous success and all three actors along with supporting actors have walked away with all the accolades.

Tbf to those who are saying that Deepika got the raw deal. She was not exactly wasted but it is true both her and Shahid got overshadowed and were quite half-baked compared to Khilji and even Kafur.
But people are forgetting that this movie is the best thing that has happened to Deepika in past two years. I mean cinema going audience, mainstream audience and media does not care about how weak her role was. It is just few internet message board arm chair pundits like us who try to show we know it all.
But in true Deepika is how going to use this role to get so many endorsement, television/media references and fashion shows.
She will be repeatedly called the "Padmavati" of Bollywood in media, with news like "Padmavati coming out of airport" and so on.
She will get many token awards, and two years later many will be like, hey Deepika did a 200 crores movie without a Khan.

I think those saying Deepika did herself a waste, are just talking about the them performance and role forgetting that for Bollywood people these things are secondary and how much in news they stay is more important because these things bring them fame and endorsements.

Like I mentioned in one of my posts which got deleted/got special place in BW trash bin - it's only the haters who are unable to decide whether RS overshadowed DP or DP overshadowed RS or RS suits for the role of Khilji to the T or RS did OTT as Khilji or DP has flower pot role in the movie or it's her who saved the movie. Meanwhile, movie has collected 212 cr. + in less than 2 weeks, hurts I know😆

I agree with almost all of it. Outside everyone is calling it a Deepika Padukone movie and yes no one counts how much screen time or role anyone got.
Now about the role I honestly think Khilji over shdowed everyone in the past too. Every history book mentions this ruthless ruler. The charcater was such. How else do yiu think Sanjay could make Padma better? She was shown doing some good hunting, she was shown to be smarter than Raja Ratan, she had the most wittiest dialogues and entire climax focussing her. What else could Padmavati possibly do?

My dad claimed Padmaavati and Ratan had a more interesting backstory of how they met and fell in love. Like Padmaavati wouldnt marry anyone unless they beat her in a dual and ratan did.

That all sounds kinda boring tho
