Part One
DD arrived at her address within minutes of her stepping outside her door.
Avni was puzzled at his attentiveness and perkiness at this time of night. He seemed familiar as she had seen him before. Then it hit her as they reached the hospital entrance.
" You are the guy who was concerned for your senior officer right?
DD smiled at her.
" Neil, I mean ACP saab wanted you to be safe. Already we are working on this assault case, he didn't want you to be another statistic, he declared.
Avni recalled how several month ago she had been helping with her first major trauma case. DD had been asking her how Neil was.
She had no idea back then that night would leave an impact on them both until now.
"Honestly I had no idea what I was doing. My senior was asking me to help stop the bleeding. I was just trying to do my job, she admitted as DD led her inside.
"ACP saab never forgets anyone that has helped him. Because you helped save his life, he was able to help so many more. Never forget your worth madam, he advised with a smile.
He turned grave as they approached the examination area.
He stopped short and let her enter and gave her the privacy she needed to conduct her examination. A kit was besides the bedside. Ram Lal nodded his head firmly and left the room.
Avni stepped closer to the younger girl.
"Tanjua batao kya hua tha aaj raat ko?, she asked as gently as possible.
"Didi!, she cried and hugged Avni with all her might.
Avni nearly fell backwards with the force. A few moments later she had her relax and instructed her as to what had to be done.
Thirty minutes later..
Avni emerged from the room.
She looked gravely at the men before her, DD and Ram Lal.
" I have collected the samples. Please give her time to get her bearings. This should go to your lab officer?, she asked.
DD nodded.
"I don't want to leave her here unprotected, Avni stated.
"Main tumare saath chalta hoon. DD will stay here, a man said from a distance.
Avni recognized him.
"Hello Acp saab, she declared.
In another situation and time she would have appreciated his good looks and physique. But tonight she wanted her patient to be safe and get justice.
" Theek hain phir chalte hain, she agreed.
He escorted her towards his police jeep.
" Thanks for the escort here but I am used to making the trip here alone, she stated.
"Haan but one great woman in my life has advised me never to allow a woman to travel late at night, especially if the reason is like what it is tonight.
Avni gave him a considerate nod as she sat in his passenger seat with the samples. The blood work had been sent to the hospital lab.
They went through the procedures and Avni gave her statement. It was nearly 4am by the time Avni and Neil finished at the station.
He drove her home.
"What time is your duty tomorrow , I mean today, he stated glancing at his watch.
"Luckily the coming night is my night shift. I will be fine. You chose a good night to call me in ACP saab, she stated.
Yes she felt for Tanuja, but the results would tell if she had been raped or not. She felt the need to have this nok jok with the ACP. Why she could not put her finger on it.
"Theek hai doctor sahiba phir mil the hain.
She frowned at him.
"As long as you call me ACP saab, I will call you doctor sahiba, he retorted before heading off into the early morning darkness.

nice update! So avni helped to save his life once. I love that its realistic because as a junior doctor she'd only follow instructions and not be too confident and really know what she was doing. please write more soon! thanks for this update

@adventure_gurl- cool! Good luck with your real life career as well! Experience is the best teacher for us doctors and nurses definitely...as a VERY junior doctor myself I know how important it is to have good senior and mentors to guide you and help you on the path to hopefully becoming a confident and compassionate practitioner. so hopefully u'll enjoy the lifelong learning and acquire a healing touch! As for the writing u've got a great hand at that. so look forward to more of that!
