EDT~ ep. 75~2.2.18 my stance. Sweet, smart and sloshed!
One does not get drunk only on alcohol. One gets taken in by ambition, emotions or beliefs as well. When reasoning clouds and leaves one with a false sense of security one just may be drunk. When emotions are magnified tenfold more than they really are one could be drunk. When the body balance is reduced to a swagger, and speech becomes an incomprehensible, senseless squabble, one is drunk. When denial sets in and one feels all is fine with self! It can be called being drunk! So the question is? Does getting drunk on aspiration, passion, and principle , less perilous than alcohol? I would say anything in excess! which makes one lose equilibrium, even love!
Yes she is sweet ,smart and quite taken in by finding out the answer for who killed her Shiv? Shiv,Sharanya's rewind button for her lost past, one more time puts forth a practical solution to her problems! Go out for a date with Vyom, get him blind drunk! watch! he himself will spill the beans! Sharanya recalls and agrees with Shiv. After a couple of pegs along with an overwhelming feeling of well being, in the past Vyom was often provoked to speak aloud the inner most thoughts of his heart and soul.
It all rushes back to Shiv & Sharanya. That night when she drove home a punch drunk Vyom home. His drunken babble of how he loved her!loved her! drove her around the bend. She refuted him, reminded him he was only her very best friend. But a dead drunk Vyom imitated a film hero's dialogue that love is friendship! In time her friendship will turn into love too! such is Vyom's Bed's madness! It makes an impression gradually, till then he waits! Sharanya didn't realize back then, that Vyom's words uttered in a drunken stupor would persist with him long after his booze wore off! she recalls, how even seated beside her in the car. He became lively! swerved her steering wheel, which in turn made her knock a cyclist over!
The scene, a FB which is near enough a serious mishap as the cyclist could have been killed or seriously injured is soon turned into a comic situation! A roadside rage, blame squabble takes place between the driver and the almost run over cyclist! The cyclist questions the lady drivers driving skills! terms it dangerous to other road users! Name calling and giving each other lip! is all tongue in cheek and light hearted to watch. Namik as Shiv and Donal as Sharanya, strike the right cord! As if this wasn't enough outcomes Vikram! as Vyom crawling on all fours! Looking for a fight! To protect the honour of the dainty damsel driving him home! Vikram's drunken confrontation with the giant sized Namik, draws many laughs from the viewers. Vikram as Vyom, displays how idiotic a drunk as a fish man sounds and acts when the booze kicks in! its funny to watch when Vyom demands a duel over Donal the pretty girl he loves. Namik's rolling of the eyes at the difference between their heights is sheer comedy. Vyom clambers onto the bonnet of the car to get level with Shiv! is like a scene out of the films, where the sober one asks the drunk just what is he likely to do ,now that both men are at heart to heart level?? Vikram's sudden bear hug for Namik plus the whisper , I will kill you.. if you come between me and my girl... is a not funny anymore, rather a cold confession from the killer for his potential victim.. suddenly the scene that starts of as comic , ends up actually turning out to being a bizarre deed! for which presently Sharanya and Shiv are still looking for the killers confession .
Another spark that ignites that night between Shiv and Sharanya, now continues to burn as an eternal light of love. Shiv being the gentleman that he was, offered to drive them both home, as he didn't trust her haphazard driving!
The scene was significant, as the sober Shiv and Sharanya both sat in front side by side. Shiv sat in the driving seat, while a drunk as a lord Vyom, sat in the rear seat ,gave the impression of one who came between the driver and front seat passenger. Let the drunk sleep in the rear, while Shiv checks if Vyom was her boyfriend? But Sharanya tells him ,not really. He knows then, that she is single! that he has a fair chance of getting to know this girl! Funnily enough Sharanya managed to find out that the lofty man remained dry all year long! Shiv was amused, does it matter to her if he is a non alcoholic man?? Sharanya had just giggled! Sparks flew that night between them!! while Vyom slept inebriated in the rear seat! But since then to this day, Vyom's sober drunken state for Sharanya, keeps him in the obsessive hangover of her love!
Dead drunk after seeing Sharanya all dolled up for the date. Romantically with a gentle twirl of his fingers Vyom covers her head! puzzled she questions him, they head out to eat not head for the temple. He corrects her, but he lied to the family he's taking Sharanya to the temple! to stop them of making a mountain out of mole hill! Sharanya studies his face, with such flair he lies. Vyom boasts of his ability to lie, change and cover up stories! All for her love, he can cheat ,lie, be fraudulent , assume multiple persona's just for her sake. Sharanya muses, she knows all too well of all his duplicity! Even when he is sober he seems taken over by short bursts of self bragging! Especially his flaws!
The finale scene is for me about, Sharanya being intoxicated by the goal she sets out to achieve. She gets carried away totally ,without realizing where to keep her self sober and well on the other side of the line.
Vyom on the other hand is spot on, vigilant. Her unusual excitability ring alarm bells for him. From the moment they enter the restaurant he begins to pries out of her the real reason for her coming out with him? he throws feelers about her nervous disposition, so she defends herself and he can catch Sharanya out! The situation also gives Vyom a reason to advocate his case of offering her lifelong happiness no matter how?
It's all about who has the upper hand. Sharanya ,in haste as usual, get down to business, orders champagne! She clearly reckons Vyom will see this gesture as celebrating their date! Only her action churns up his past memory wherein, he had vowed to her he'd give up spirit consumption, as it offended her! Now he even reminds her, but she foolishly lands still lands herself in it, with her over exuberance. Out of turn, Vyom finds not only she lifts the ban, grants him celebratory drinks, in fact she goes beyond, even insinuates, she wouldn't mind a glass herself!!
It's amusing to see how she blocks Shiv's warnings and just gets drunk on her small successes with Vyom ,to have him in her grip of female allure. To her Vyom is already her captive hopelessly in love dumb struck by her charm. She misinterprets the outcome, her one glass will challenge Vyom to drink more , show her how he can handle more drink than her, without getting drunk?
Alarm bells not only ring for Vyom, but for Shiv too! he dreads in her desperation, not only will Sharanya ruin their plan, but also leave herself open to heaven alone knows what?? Shiv shakes his head in disbelief, when he watches helplessly that instead of getting the opponent drunk! Sharanya! over smartness personified! gets stone dead herself! On top of this spectacle it's time for Shiv to exit as it fast approaching past sunset.
Well looks like Sharanya is all on her own to fend herself against a wolf in sheep's clothing Her task intoxication gets triggered off by the glass of champagne. Dangerous dare kicks in as she insists if Vyom is truly drunk than he would lay bare his mind just like he did so easily after a couple of glasses of spirit! This reference brings him back to his senses. All this time Sharanya knew about their past, she only feigned? like she dupes him now!
To me, her blunder is drinking, and under estimating its effects on a non drinker like herself. Shiv perhaps should have warned her against her active participation in drinking with Vyom, she wouldn't be able to handle it.
Sharanya on her part tried to add a touch of reality to her act, in fact a smart cover up for what she really aimed to achieve. Only her judgement gets foggy and her objective begins to be wordy. She wants him to share the one thing he's never shared with any one! She used alcohol to tempt him into a confessional statement.. only somewhere along the line she herself gets waylaid!.. commits an oversight due to being inebriated with her assignment. Have a good Sunday .. sorry for this late post. I enjoyed the episode the leads were most entertaining.. looks like come Monday Sharanya is really... erhhh sloshed naach gana! Whatever next..???
