Although it would have been wonderful for Sridevi to win, not only because she was fab in and as MOM, but of course she would smash the record of "Eldest Winner" by 12 years.

However, most people haven't noticed but Vidya's win last night makes her the second eldest of all-time, at the age of 39. Nutan has held the record since 1979 when she won aged 42.

Only 1 other woman has won over the age of 35 and that is Kajol - for My Name Is Khan, aged 36.

The Best Actor category has a completely different story.

She used to win for Dirty Picture and Kahaani. Compare that to winning for something like this.

This was a phenomenal performance. Just because there was nothing unique to her character, people assume it wasn't good. She nailed the role. Notice small things and you will see.

This time Filmfare got it right majorly and lived upto it's reputation. Both Vidhya and Zaira were the right choices in their respective categories. In my opinion, the towering act of Ratna patak sha could have been presented with a supporting actress trophy.

The technical awards were apt. But the best picture award struck a jarring note to me since there were far superior films that deserved that trophy.

I love Sri as an actress probably more than Vidya, but average performances or not, Sullu was the winner in every way! She was so breezy as Sullu & so nuanced in an effortless manner! That's the mark of a true actress. Balan is one of the few rare actors born to act. <3 So, so so happy for her!!

Yes, it makes for a good watch. Especially the first half is a breezy entertainer and vidhya has attempted comedy for the 1st time and delivered brilliantly. The second half becomes a bit melodramatic with unnecessary cliche and subplots, but vidhya and her role tower over the script and make you invested in her. Overall the middle class milieu and a housewife's transformation is captured in an engaging way. The film provides a few good laughs 😛.
