Twinkle Khanna has been invited to speak at the Oxford Union one of the reputed debating societies in the world.
Not just that, she will be showcasing her debut production venture Pad Man, starring her husband Akshay Kumar, at the Union on January 18th.
Twinkle will be giving an insight into the story of the movie and how it would play an important role in tackling society's taboos regarding menstrual hygiene.
The film is based on the life of social entrepreneur and activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, who revolutionized sanitary hygiene in rural India 20 years ago, the film stars Twinkle's husband actor Akshay Kumar in the title role. We have already seen Mr. Arun's struggle on various videos revolving in social media and here we have Twinkle Khanna bringing it to screen for the rest of the world.
PadMan will be the first Indian film to be showcased and discussed at the Oxford Union.
The Oxford Union, which was foundedin 1832 has been inviting world leaders and influencers to discuss topics of importance over the years. Some of the speakers include Sashi Tharoor, the Dalai Lama, Michael Jackson, Malala Yousafzai, Salman Rushdie and Morgan Freeman so Twinkle Khanna must feel really lucky!
The film, directed by R Balki, also features Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in leading roles and will be releasing on January 25th, 2018. PadMan is also going to clash at the box office with Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer Padmavati, which releases on January 25th, as well.
