Secret Superstar will mint Rs 540 crore in China, predicts trade

After blockbuster success of Dangal in China, Aamir Khan's Secret Superstarreleased in the country today. And according to a report in Forbes, the film has opened huge in China to superb word of mouth. The film has earned 42 crs on its opening day at the Chinese box office. With the huge opening, Secret Superstar is expected to be the top film over the weekend beating the likes of local hit Forever Young. In fact, a leading Chinese online movie ticket seller and fan ratings site Maoyan.com has estimated that Secret Superstar will make around $7 million in its opening day. And a blockbuster $84 million (Rs 540 crore) by the end of its life time run. Aamir Khan's previous release Dangal had collected $189 million last year but Secret Superstar is a much smaller film. And despite a lower opening day than Dangal, Secret Superstar's word of mouth is way better. Movie rating website Douban gave it an 8.2 on 10 and Maoyan a brilliant 9.6/10.

Interestingly, if the estimate indeed comes true then with Rs 540 crore from China and aorund Rs 150 crore from India and other overseas market, Secret Superstar will become the biggest Bollywood grosser of 2017 worldwide beating Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai which is at Rs 547 crore. If that happens, Secret Superstar will be the fourth biggest grosser of all time, right behind Dangal (Rs 1864 crore), Baahubali: The Conclusion (Rs 1417 crore), and PK (Rs 832 crore).

Also, the fact that Aamir Khan has also schedule a visit to China from January 23-26, 2018, will help in the business further. Let's see how much, Secret Superstar will be able to make by the end of its run in China.
