Nor do they pelt stones, troll the family or worse carry out prayer meets to pray for the team or attempt to commit suicide just because your favourite performed badly. There is way too much emotional investment to the point of losing your sanity IMO. I don't see that with the Aussies. Yeah a few random fans on cricket forums might hail Smith as Don Badman or Ponting but it's nothing compared to the obsession in India. I don't follow cricketing forums for my own sanity so I might be wrong 😆

Well Indians are dramatic but the Aussie media is worse than ours for sure. Most of our cricket journos are too scared of BCCI and Virat to even put forth their true opinion unlike the Aussie media.

Well hasn't that always been the case? Even Indian commentators are expected to toe the line and constantly praise India. Poor Harsha Bogle was criticised by Amitabh for praising the opposition and we had MSD openly agreeing to it though it is the job of a commentator to be neutral irrespective of which country they belong to. But we'd rather have sycophants. That's the sad reality. And it's not just Virat. It applies to almost every single star cricketer including MSD and Sachin.
All said and done, I still believe Indian fans take it to the extreme with both praise and criticism. One day Virat is better than Sachin and next day he is a one dimensional flat track bully 🤪 I don't care for the criticism though. People like Sachin and Ponting have faced worse through out their career and learnt to live with it. I just hope Virat improves his temperament and they get a better coach who he listens to unlike loser Shastri 😆

@Shreya- Now I understand the plight of MSD fans. I used to roll my eyes when they used to come up with such arguments and wait for India to lose just so I can trash him. Now I totally get their plight 🤣
On a related note, Virat has been adjudged the ICC Cricketer of the Year and captain of the ICC Test and ODI teams 🥳

Again for 2017 with all series conveniently played at home or against weak teams. 😆

Had to share this quote by our bewda cheerleader cause we know who the actual Koach is.

Shastri did, however, give a little idea about what his role is maybe it was by mistake when he said, "I don't think coaching is needed at this level. At this level, it is all about fine-tuning and getting the blokes in good mental space to go out and play the game. They know they have reached here because they are good. At times, you might need to just fine-tune them a bit because the amount of cricket that's being played, you might just get into the odd bad habit without you realizing it. That's where the experience of having played, probably having watched you can pick it up and pass the message.

https://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/sport/cricket/Heres-how-Ravi-Shastri-is-building-a-winning-team/articleshow/59873576.cms

P.S. With no coaching being given, its understandable why Virat is unable to resolve his problems against swing and inevitably gets caught in the slips in pretty much every alternate match.

P.P.S. With Virat and Shastri at the helm, I am concerned that the team culture will get eroded, with hardcore net practice being relegated in favour of longer gym sessions which Sunny always disdainfully remarks upon while commentating. The obsession with fitness to the point where it takes precedence over actual cricket practice is disturbing. I remember stories of how Sach would spend hours practicing everyday. Where is that commitment now?

Being dhoni fan myself , i ahve to admit Dhoni himself has a bad oveseas record . It is only Sourav who holds good overseas record . And it not pre dhoni era infact it was pre sourav era where it was all bhagwan bharose . It was Sourav who nurtured Players under hom and prepared .
Also when Dhoni became the captain indian fans were like He is lucky ...he got the best players hence India wining and now same peeps sing Dhoni praise when now there is other captain.

Last year when India was winjing home games ... Virat hasters had same argument ...winning players hence winning matches and now 1 Loss we see what happens .
It is this hypocrisy of Indian fan which irritates me . Indian cricket fans will never be happy . Be it Sourav , Dhoni and now Virat they will never be happy ... 😆 .

Even when Australis was top ICC test team it was mostly because of their Home wins .
Indian fans are extremely critic but this is problem of we Indians 😆.

I am not saying Virat is good captain , he is bad extremely bad . There is lot to learn for him but I wont write him off just after 1 Loss .. this is coming from a person who become his fan from his hater because of his sheer love/commitment for the game .
