Chapter One (b)
Ishita took Aditya to an ice cream parlour to treat me to his favourite chocolate flavored ice cream but within no time the little one began to cry with toothache. Ishita felt so guilty for causing pain to her son that she instantly whisked him away in her arms and rushed to the nearest dentist clinic.
The concerned mother genuinely lost all her senses and literally barged into the dental clinic as Aditya clung on to her. Ishita rubbed her son's back to ease his pain and spoke lovingly to him trying to make him feel at ease. A gentleman had been seated in the waiting area along with his sister and niece and kept peeping over at the mother-son duo. He kept smiling looking at them when his sister nudged him. He then told his irritated sister it was Ishita and excused himself.
"Ishita"
Ishita was standing in front of the receptionists' desk waiting for her turn, growing more impatient with each passing second. At first she didn't even hear Raman's voice but it was only when she felt Aditya wriggling out of her hold did she turn around to see her neighbour cum friend Raman, behind her!
"Hi Raman"
Aditya reached his arms out for Raman to pick him up but Ishita felt uneasy. Raman sensed her discomfort and assured her that he could handle Aditya well.
"Ishita there's no need for you to feel uncomfortable. Tumhe toh pata hi hai ke Adi mere saath kitna khush rehta hai! Hai naa champ?" Raman said tickling Adi as the little one giggled.
"Thank you Raman" Ishita expressed her gratitude to Raman with a weak smile
"You're welcome Ishita and don't worry Adi bilkul theek ho jaiyega!" Raman assured Ishita as he pacified Adi.
It was just then that the receptionist called out to Ishita and then the next half an hour was spent in getting Adi's check up done with Raman insisting to stay by Adi's side the whole time. Habitually, Ishita thanked Raman whilst he just smiled and drove Adi and Ishita home.
Ishita requested Raman to stay back for coffee as he'd been incredibly helpful today. The duo enjoyed their coffee and Raman returned home to find his sister sitting on the sofa giving him angry stares. Raman decided to retreat into his room just to be stopped by his furious sister Simmi.
"Bahut acha lagta hai naa tujhe uss widhwa ke saath waqt guzarna, uski madat karna, uske bache ko pyaar karna? Arre aaj toh hadh kardi isne Mumma" Simmi spat out to Raman, inviting her mother to add fuel to the already spread fire.
"Simmi Di bas karo!"
Simmi glared at Raman and smirked at his words "Kamaal hai beta aaj se pehle toh tune kabhi mujh se aise baat nahi ki thi toh ab kya hogaya?"
Raman felt really angry hearing such crass words from his sister's mouth and if that wasn't enough, his mother also pounced at the opportunity
"Dekh Raman, tu uss ladki se dur hi raha kar. Ek toh uske pati ko marre saalon beet gaye aur upar se uska beta. Tu aisi aurat se dur hi reh toh acha warna kal ko kya pata tujh pe dore daalne lagge aur apne bacho ko baap dene ke chakkar mein teri bali chadwa de"
Raman was disgusted would be an understatement. As though something was pulling him along, he walked out of that house and spat at the threshold.
Raman was a lost man today. He literally had no idea where he was going and in an absolute state of daze, he stepped on to the road to be run over by a car.
Everything blanked out.
