When Mehak lost her Mehak

Last week I said I would be disappointed if Mehak doesn't lash out against Mandar for trying to immolate Neev as she did at Shaurya for kidnapping her. She questioned him alright, but that doesn't count as lashing out!!!! Is this the same Mehak who threw Mandar to floor for beating up Neev in one of the earlier episodes after leap?! Is she the same Mehak who pushed Mandar back and stated strongly that they won't move Banwarilal anywhere until he is cured completely?! Even after the memory loss they never showed Mehak as weak as they showed her this week, kicked around by every character on the show, some in the name "protecting her" and some in the name of "protecting their own ass".

What happened between few weeks ago and now?! Oh yeah! Hero needs to show herogiri and hence the heroine should act like a damsel in distress, who only knows how to swoon at the drop of the hat. Oh yeah, don't forget to put powerful magnets in the hero's pockets and heroine's drawstring purse! Whenever they are any closer than 10 ft from each other, they will go stick to each other due to the strong pull of the magnets. That will mask all the inconsistencies and fangirls will swoon along with the heroine! What a grave injustice to "Mehak"?!

Can't a hero be a hero without the heroine being a damsel in distress, especially in issues related to domestic violence and child abuse?! I am sure a lot of women are being heroes in their own lives and saving theirs and their children's lives everyday from useless psychopathic assholes, who call themselves husbands. Swooning and trip-fall-catch doesn't work for those brave women in real world. Yes, a lot of women put up with a lot of shit before moving out, because they want to protect the child's interests as much as possible. Some of them stay in such relationships and jeopardize their own lives and their children's lives. But there are women who gather courage to fight for their kids against not just their husbands but also the society. Since the story is about a simple, soft natured, but mentally strong girl named "Mehak", with whom a lot of women identify themselves with, the minimum creatives can do is keep her essence undiluted. For that, the hero's heroism need to take a supportive role and let the heroine shine. Hope there are men on the team, who are man enough to do that!

Other things i noticed or liked this week

Keeping aside my disappointment with inconsistencies in Mehak's characterization and this premature forced romance, between a married woman and her boss(this would be another blow to Mehak's character), intended to woo hormonal teen girls in the audience, i did like some parts in this week's episodes.

> I liked how Shaurya used his crooked brains to get Mandar arrested and keep him there with Digvijay's help. That's the version of Shaurya i like. The one who uses crooked means but for the right purpose, one who is selfish but still has a conscience and good heart hiding deep inside. Oh I loved the Khanna in plotting mode in jail cell. Karan did a wonderful job.

> I found it hilarious how Mandar got special treatment from police in installments.😆 Sunny is a good actor, must say. I laughed so hard when he tried to sit on the bed after he came back from police station, but his bum is so sore from the dose he got at the station that he screams like crazy. I found the whole scene hilarious. When Mehak was passing that hot water for warm compress to Mandar's mother over him, i thought it would slip through her fingers and burn him and he would scream like hell hopping all over the place. It didn't happen though. Jeez, there is so much evil in me!😆 Sunny is probably one of their best additions in the recent times. He knows how to act.

> Glad that Shaurya saw through Archi's bullshit. I think Archi put herself against Shaurya when she tried to stop him from pursuing Mehak. He said before that whoever is not with him is against him, when it comes to Mehak. In her desperation, Archi herself made the mistake of putting herself opposite Shaurya. And then, when he was in his bedroom getting ready to go somewhere, she asks him whether he was going to see Mehak instead of saying Vandana. I think that put him on alert. Kanta and Neev helped him at the right time and Archi is unmasked. I skip most of her psycho drama though. She doesn't have the acting chops to handle meaty roles.

> I loved the scene where Mehak walks into White Chillies towards Shaurya. I loved Mehak's cute expressions throughout her ordeal on her first day at white chillies. She and Neev, both look like little kids to me, just that Mehak has a big girl body.

> Samiksha did an awesome job in the accident scene. Acting like a little mommy comes naturally to her. The scene where she cried holding Neev reminds me of the scene where Shaurya got stuck in the burning car and she rescues him. I don't mind Mehak being unreasonable and blaming Shaurya for the accident in that moment. Its a woman's birth right to be unreasonable at times. We put up with a lot of shit everyday. She is blaming herself more than she blamed him. His intentions are good but he did put her in a high pressure situation and she wasn't able to take care of her kid. That's what she thinks. I liked the whole accident sequence. I skipped Archi though.

Do agree with all your points Rekha.
The show which started on a very promising note to depict Mehek as a strong FL who
would overcome all odds and carve a niche for herself is somewhere lost these days,
especially after the memory loss track. Show makers have their own constraints I guess.
For a long run of the show, they come up with all sort of illogical and drag story lines to
fill up the episodes. That's the fate of almost all ITV shows.

Few show makers cannot digest the fact that indeed women can be stronger, fight their
own battles and make a life for themselves and come out as winners. Even though we are
still part of a male dominated society, women have come a long way and proved their mettle.
You don't always need a man to support you and encourage you to achieve goals. Thinking
with their hearts and not just brains and also being the multi-taskers, women do have a knack
to deal with any situation and be pretty good at what at they do. I do take pride in belonging to
a state and district which has women holding the reins of top bureaucrats, be it the
Chief Secretary of the state, DG-IGP, SP, DCP, CEO-ZP, Civic bodies, entrepreneurs,
panchayats and many more key posts.

Mehek of our show keeps flipping from being strong to weak without consistency in the
character. I hope at least after this memory loss track, the CVs decide to make her character
a strong one as they promised and show good tracks which would bring out the best in Mehek,
a character which could be an inspiration.⭐️

Excellent post Rekha👏
I think ZKM succeeded in connecting an en masse within a short time only bcos of the "Mehak" character. Though her character underwent multitude of ram shackles, still it had the aura to get hold of the audience with her high spirited and never losing mentality, giving neck to neck competition to the villainous hero . But post leap, the "mehakness" has vanished totally. Really can't understand why the audience always love to c d typical weak "sehmi si" heroines n the ever valiant heroes. It has now gone the typical "Ekta" way as the trps r also abetting them. Really missing the "Mehak" of MEHAK!!

And the saddest thing is that the dialogues given to Mehak r poor n repetitive 😕 ( like "Mein aapko kabhi maaf nahin karungi"- she has said the same thing several times to Shaurya) The oneliners of Shaurya r always bang on in ZKM. In every way "Mehak" is not being given the required prominence in the show. May b bcos the script writer is a male, but still loads need to b done to "Mehak" character!!

Rekha, you are looking for deeper logic 😲 ZkM (& most others) thrive on illogical TRP graph, the arch of characters within 😆
The female protagonist is mahaan by scarifying too much, losing too far, paving way for everyone over her desired destination if she were to choose the option will always be for others happiness, more giving than getting , like a candle illuminating the darkness around burning herself out yet providing warmth to those around her ,overcoming the obstacles on her path getting past them with determination without trespassing the LR & eventually breaking the deceptive walls of resistance, trespassing is for negatives 😆,FL- the sanskari beti, biwi & bahu,as Kanta pointed out to Shaurya anymore and she needs rescuing from the hero, her own LR & brain turning into inactive wasteland so that the hero becomes the knight in the shinning armour, the invisible strings of destiny always tugging them together, keeping (hopefully )alive the intensity & audience interest 😆

I agree with you Rekha.
Mehek was always shown selfless. She thinks only about others happiness even if is has to sacrifice her own. I find her too submissive from the beginning, first her family, her sasural, Shaurya and now her fake family.
She has fought with Shaurya when he has done wrong. She left him when he destroyed her chachu shop. But now after facing so many physical and verbal abuses she is only arguing with him but not taking any step to stop him from his abuses. I would have been happy if she had slapped Mandhar and put him behind bars for trying to harm Neev. What is stopping her??? Only because he is ur fake husband and father of Neev??? She has to grow her spine and stand up for herself.
In every show there has to be a hero saving herione. We cannot expect anything new and they won't show anything new. No logic in TV shows.

Sneha, the problem with this show is that if one character has to shine, every other character has to be dumbed down. So if Shaurya has to shine, Mehak has to be dumbed down. Why couldn't they show Mehak lashing out both Shaurya and Mandar for endangering her son's life and police arresting them both?! She can try to bail Mandar out on his mother's request later, but she could have been shown strong enough to ward off anyone trying to harm Neev, even if its her fake husband. That's how she was shown even after leap, but suddenly she is weak. She did push the same Mandar to the ground in a lot less stressful situations! Shaurya can still be shown using his crooked brains to keep Mandar in jail longer and Mehak safer away from him! They both can shine together! There was no need to dumb her down. Lack of consistency bothers me, especially when it comes to the lead characters. Going by the amount of butchering they did to Shaurya's character before, it shouldn't bother me though.😕

Arsha, to me ZKM is about both Shaurya and Mehak. Its Mehak's journey, but its about how Shaurya influences it at different phases in her life. They didn't do much justice to Shaurya's character either. In the earlier episodes he was a brat but he would listen to his mother. He had a conscience before. But now he is painted in all shades of black, from a con to an abuser to a murderer to a pimp. i don't mind it if they show him falling for human vices at times, but they just depicted him as someone who lacks empathy completely. His character suffered too. Now that they are trying to make him shine, they decided to make Mehak a dumb idiot. There is only one spotlight and it can be on only one character at a time, i guess.😕

I know i shouldn't be looking for logics but i don't think weakening Mehak's character would get them any trps, Nitya. I don't think that Mehak's character is weak after leap at all! Actually it shows how strong she is mentally, emotionally and spiritually, to be able to care for another soul that needs her and choose to stay with an abusive man, even when she is not in her best health and without any support system and not sure about her own identity! She was put there to fight for Neev as Vandana couldn't do it, and she did that too many times in her own way! Its unfair to take away that right from her now to glorify another character.
