EDT~ ep 21, 20 11.17, My stance~ dead & alive..
One is alive till the small muscle, the heart is ticking away, either naturally or by mechanics of modern medicines. Yes the pulse is the indicator to pronounce one clinically expired. Traditionally the body turns cold and pallid. The blood , a life source ceases to circulate and leaves the corpse looking gawk and hollow eyed. Yet many have faith the body perishes but the soul lives on. For me, our loved ones continue to live in our memories and act as a constant source of positive energy for us. Coming back to our story , today's episode touches upon, lost memories. The alive one , living halfway in the land of the living and the dead simultaneously. Then there's the supposedly dead one who again traverses the land of the living..The episode touches on the theme of necromancy , where the dead are called upon through incantation and rituals.. but for me the thought comes up , that let the dead be dead.. and let's look to the living..
People owe it to themselves to have memories.. they are personal and give meaning to their lives. It's like their history of their past experiences. With Sharanya though, due to her medical condition. Revival of her past is more of a plague than pleasure and nostalgia. One cannot say people don't remind her of her hazy past. There's a spiritual presence that encourages her to seek her past. Then there's another ,who reminds her that he was an integral part of her love life. Who is Sharanya meant to go by? The strange woman Odhni claims she can help her to find her past. This note, some one's presence only makes Sharanya keen to explore her past! but she wrestles within herself. Should she meet Odhni or not? I think she is likely too. But then Vyom phones, to check up on her. Sharanya speaks of her restlessness , her concerns about his wellbeing. I would think Vyom can be rest assured she is beginning to love him! typically he assures her , nothing will happen to him! things are going well over the phone. But when she mentions Odhni , he loses his peace dismisses the woman as demented! Trying to influence her with her, spiritual medium rubbish! Vyom is brisk to sing a love lullaby over the phone to Sharanya .. noticeable, he turns on his phone.. he does play the guitar and sings.. but is he rendering a karaoke ??? or really singing someone else's song? Whatever, but Sharanya is taken in by the music and lyrics.. clearly a love song.. but he's already told her time and again that he loved her ,and still does.. Vyom knows how to divert her from looking back into her past...
Some mothers look up to their sons for emotional security and protection. Madhvi is clearly a spurned wife, turned to booze to drown her sorrows and cure her of her boredom. The bonding scene between mother and son is endearing. Vyom is old and sensible enough to realize he was out of order with his mother, especially before the whole family. No son can stand his mother being Badmouthed.. Chandni scoffed his mother about drinking as soon as the day breaks. Vyom invokes old memories where , as a child before going to school ,she would give him cold coffee .. he knows how to calm an insecure mother, wants her to make him the same cold coffee. Mind you , apart from the mother son affection, Vyom in no uncertain words makes it clear to his mother.. that Sharanya is the love of his life.. while she Madhvi is his one and only mother.. and he loves both and cannot do without either of them! Yes he admits he was insolent with her due to Sharanya... inadvertently , he leaves Sharanya still as a bone of contention between him and his mother! But his request for a cold cup of coffee calms his mother! He means the world to her, Vyom does! Its sad when Madhvi admits ,that he has Sharanya , but apart from him, she has no one!
Poor Madhvi is under the scanner in her own house. Chandni and her son.. are confused by the mother son erratic behaviour. Scheming Chandni predicts that it will be Sharanya who will create a fissure between Vyom and Madhvi.. they just have to wait and watch. Some relatives seek pleasure from others failings. Clearly Chandni has an axe to grind with both Rajan and Madhvi. Chandni sounds bitter and twisted.. wonder why?
Vyom is always alert! Aditiya clearly likes him, probably because he has his sisters welfare at heart. He calls Vyom and tells him Sharanya has sneaked out of the house without letting any one know where she s heading! Vyom knows! and he dashes past his mother! Coffee cup crashes on the floor! Madhvi is stunned. Chandni comes to rub salt on a mother's wounds! While her son , sneers, it 's something to do with Sharanya!
The living comes looking for her dead past.. in the hope that she can come alive without sensing the dead! Odhni's world is purple, yellow, mobile brightly lit suspended glass lamp shades, gilt candelabra, a glass bubbling cauldron with putrid green liquid!sharanya looks in awe. The wooden door slams shut! to the outside world.. here was the world of necromancy ! where communication with the dead takes place! Some want to know about their future! But Sharanya is one who seeks her past, to attain answers for her present ! Odhni seeing her , is pleased, it means Sharanya wants to know her past. Odhni ensures, that Sharanya didn't let anyone know she was coming her. Odhni sounds like Amit , he too wanted to meet her on her own. Odhni builds up Shiv's persona..he knows all about her, he makes his presence know to her.. Odhni admits, she can see spirits she saw him in the park too! Odhni convinces Sharanya that she is not aware of who he is? but only that his purpose is only her! Sharanya is desperate to see him! Shiv stands near her, as she paces and insists! She wants to know who he is! its time to beckon the spirit, Odhni lights fire! Chants, many jumbled up incomprehensible to the common ears and reason! Odhni chants and invokes the spirit to reveal it self in the tongues of fire. Shranya waits keenly! Shiv paces restlessly !how the spirit groans to come from its world into the land of the living! does it mean he is likely to experience ordeal of dying again? fervent begging, commands !from Odhni to Shiv to show himself !the girl here wants to see him! .. more so Odhni too wants to see him! suddenly she sees the half white half dark face of Shiv!
He is tall, with thick dark black hair! black eyes. Sharanya fails to see him! Odhni asks for her hand! Sharanya believes she can see him if she holds, senses, touches Odhni's hand! it will give her the powers to see the spirit of her past. But Sharanya being a normal human being unaccustomed to black arts of calling upon spirits! is reluctant! and Odhni yells at her! hold on to her hand and not let go! I suspect , there is much excitement in Odhni too , seeing the wonders of her powers!
Before her hand so as much even touches Odhni's hand! Vyom's strong grip pulls back Sharanya's arm! One look at the burning tongues of fire! The gypsy fortune teller type Odhni ,he rasps! What the hell is going on? Odhni warns him! his life is in danger! the spirit is out to get him! return to whence he came from! If he wants no harm to come to him! Odhni shouts, she has come to seek her past! she warns Sharanya ,the spirit wants you! and will kill any one that comes near you! even him! she points to Vyom! Odhni reminds Vyom of all the mishaps he's been having! But Vyom is no mood to listen! He pulls Sharanya away from the fire! Kicks the hearth!and warns Odhni ,if she comes anywhere near Sharanya! He will kill her! drags Sharanya out of the hell hole! Sharanya wants to stay... to find it but! Vyom is not listening!
Odhni looks despondent... out of the dying charred sticks strewn on the floor.. black smoke rises up in coils and twirls.. and slowly out of the spirals of sooty smoke.. as if by magic Shiv's face is etched on the wall..the song plays.. a tale filled with love! this is the story of a crazy lover! That not even death can stop!! Shiv voice over recites "you didn't listen to him, you didn't feel him. but you caught a glimpse of his face! But there are still hidden secrets hamlet53 21.11.17
Well.. Sharanya wanted to stay to find out about her past! Vyom put an end to that.. no wonder she ends all connections with him... Shiv ends up relaxing on Sharanya's bed? and what's this she is pinned against the wall again??? only this time by Shiv...
