Part 6
Gauri had decided to reward Omkara for being the most thoughtful person in the entire world, not just for the payal and saving the tea time' episode but for everything he had done so far for her. She was looking for ideas to surprise him. It had already been three months since she had started learning with Divya Ma and she was really enjoying it.
ShivKara used to drop by every now and then during her classes to get progress report from Divya Ma, almost like her mom and dad would do, in a different life. Gauri was doing very well, according to Divya Ma, she was very competent, and in fact she even compared Gauri to Shivaay in terms of brain power. Shivaay was so proud of his sister and Omkara's chest was double the size when he heard that. If she kept at that pace, she would clear Inter in a year's time, declared Divya Ma.
Gauri couldn't help thanking her stars, her Om and her Bade Bhaiyaa for being there for her always. She almost did think of Shivaay as a father, she did call him Bade Bhaiyaa but he was no less than a father figure for her.
She wondered, How lucky can one get? Before she had no one except her adopted mom, and now she had three fathers Tej Uncle, Chote Papa and Shivaay, and four mothers in Daadi, Jhanvi Ma, Pinky Aunty and Divya Ma' Although Tej Uncle and Pinky Aunty had yet to open up to her but she knew it won't be long when she wins them over. Little did she know that Tej was already dying for her to call him Papa' and Pinky had started finding her young self in Gauri and developed a soft corner for her as well. And she had siblings in Anika, Priyanka and Rudy Bhaiya'. All this, because of her Omkara, if it was not for him, she would not have been with all these lovely people and made new relationships. Even if she tried to thank Om and God for this, it would not be enough.
She was lost in her thoughts when Divya Ma interrupted and asked What is it Gauri, you look a bit distracted today?'
Woh main Omkara ji ko surprise dene ka soch rahi thi. Aapke paas koi idea hain? Aap toh unhe bachpan se jaante hain. Bataiye naa, unhe kya accha lagta hain? I want to know about his childhood, tell me why he was your favourite as a child? Why were they home-schooled?' quizzed Gauri
Omkara is very different from everyone else. He was very sensitive as a child, bcoz of the atmosphere around him. I remember very clearly, I used to look after Shivaay, he was 5 when Omkara was born. The moment he looked at his little bro, Shivaay was a goner; he was born to be a big bro, my Shivaay. He took full charge of little Omkara even as a 5 year old. And when Rudy was born, Shivaay was 10 Om was 5, which was the day they both became responsible. Shivaay brought Rudy up like a father and Omkara was his big brother, protecting him from the foul atmosphere with Tej and Jhanvi fighting every day. Jhanvi had taken to drinking to cope with Tej's betrayal. She could not look after Om and Rudy as a normal mother would have. She gave them all the love she could when she was sane, but so many times she wasn't around to cuddle them, ask them if they had eaten. It was me and Shivaay who did that. Omkara was the most affected by all this. He was a lonely child, despite having a very strong bond with Shivaay and Rudy, he found it difficult to express his feelings. He had a lot of anger seething inside him, which he was bearing in silence. I could see that, I wanted to help, so I introduced him to art. He found some peace in colours and clay and took to it like fish takes to water. I was relieved for some time. He still wasn't expressing his anger, but he was at least expressing. He needed a lot of care and so I was partial towards him, Shivaay knew this but he encouraged it, he loved his brother and Ru was too small to object.
Until Ru was 3, the two big brothers attended school, as Ru was sleeping most of the day and had not gained much consciousness. But when he was nursery age, and taken to school, he started crying a lot. He was happy when he was put in the car to go to school bcoz he saw Shivaay and Om in the same car, but on reaching school when they had to go to separate class-rooms, Ru just refused to part with his brothers. He just wouldn't stop crying.
At first we thought, only Ru could be home-schooled, but when he saw his bros leaving for school he was just out of control Rudy. It was then that Shivaay decided that all three of them would be home-schooled together. He just could not bear his baby Ru crying any more. That was Shivaay at 13 years old, making decisions and sacrifices for those he loved. It was also the right decision for Omkara, as often at school he got into fights with other boys for no reason. That was how he vented his anger and frustration.
They are ShivOmRu, like the Trinity, they are inseparable. I call them the mind, body and soul of one' being.
Shivaay is the mind, Rudra the body and Omkara the soul. Without each other they are nothing. I am very glad that Shivaay and Om have found Anika and you as life partners, since both of you understand this and love them unconditionally.
But for you Gauri, I will stress that Omkara is the soul, who cares for nothing material in his life. If you want to reward Omkara, Gauri, shower him with love and fill him with inner peace. He needs only YOU.' saying this Divya Ma got up and left. Gauri was in tears, listening to all this. No wonder he grew up to be not the most positive person as he had a difficult childhood' Gauri thought, after seeing problems in his mom-dad's relationship, his belief in everlasting love is shaken'.
Gauri was thoughtful, of course she loves Omkaraji. But now she needs to show her love to him as well. Just like he tries to show his affection. If he can control himself so much despite loving her, why can't she go meet him half-way?
With this new resolve Gauri went about the rest of the day, waiting to meet her Om in the evening. Dinner was a happy affair as usual, with the entire Oberoi family. Anika had prepared a new dish today with the help of Daadi and everybody loved it. After dinner hour was the Obros and Obahus hour, when the Obros retired to the poolside to catch up with each other over hot chocolate prepared by Shivaay. And Aniri retired to Omkara's outdoor studio which also had a smaller enclosed pool to discuss the day's happenings over tea. This is when they exchanged information gained from Divya Ma and all other jasoosi and pranks they did throughout the day. Today was no different, except that Gauri looked distracted; she was in a hurry to get to the confines of her bedroom.
And it wasn't long she was there. She lay down on the recliner waiting for her Om, but was dozing in no time; she was tired after a hectic day. Om walked in after 20 mins to find his chiraiyaa asleep on the recliner. He knelt next to her, admired her beauty for some time, blew hair off her face and then picked her up like a baby to carry her to the bed. He lay her down, only to find her clutching his collar with her hand. He tried to release it but failed, he didn't want to wake her up. Ommm' she said, stay with me'. He smiled and lay down next to her, when she put her arm around him and cuddled. He was shocked, Was this really happening? He had longed for her so much. He knew he still will have to control himself with her, but for now, he was happy to be this close to her'.
He put his hand on her face and caressed her cheek, putting some hair behind her ear. She moved even closer to him and tightened her embrace, I love you Om. Sooo much' she murmured in her sleep.
He had heard it before, but every time he heard it from her, it gave him inner peace, a feeling he was searching for all this while. A feeling- that everything will be all right; since he has her. She was the answer to all his searches and all his questions, with this beautiful thought, he cuddled her. They slept in each other's arms, cuddled like babies, that night and every other night that followed thereafter.
