It was a "semi hit" in BOI's language. Big 100 cr semi-hits are always flops.

And I totally forgot about Dishoom. This film made no impact either.

its more like a technical thing about budgets.
but even at both surface' level, and finances' technicality wise, Dilwale indeed not just recovered its budget but made some little profit too, so yeah as u stated urself, a semi hit, or even if we call it an average fare, it cannot be labelled as flop.

Dishoom might be an impactless movie, but was not a flop forsure, it was average to below average.

I have not seen either of them, and not a fan of any male leads (srk n varun) in them, but believe in giving the credit where it is due.
Varun has a record to have atleast no clean flop in his entire career yet.

Not a huge acheivement, but forsure something noticable.

Dilwale budget: 165 crore
Domestic collections: 139 crore.

The thumb rule is that a film has to make double its budget to be a hit. And Dilwale could not even make half of that.

The thing is BOI always give semi-hit tag to flop big budget films, may be because of their clout or to give them a respectable tag. But everyone knows it's a flop.

Dishoom is a flop. Though the trade gives him too much leeway and acts as it is a hit.

but overall Dilwale made profits due to overseas collections.
Though I have no clear idea whether a cumulative business (domestic and overseas) is taken into account, or the domestic only is the prime barometer of bo' success/failure.

So far it looks boring and SRK is having a Brad Pitt hangover. And it has Suhana, the worst actress ever to hit the industry. What do you think?...
