Wow now according to ppl on IF Varun's Semi Hit, Average = Flop, he has indeed entered the big league or what 😆
Anyways for a fact Varun is indeed the 1st & only actor in the history of Hindi cinema to give 9 back to back successes from the inception of his career

OT- Well cant say
October is a tricky one to crack, with debut actress, off-beat subject & possible clash with 2.0😆

Sui-Dhaaga is a promising pan India project of Yrf with good release date...

Shiddat is a big budget period drama, it will oscillate to extreme ends
ABCD3 is the safest bet in terms of Box office

but overall Dilwale made profits due to overseas collections.
Though I have no clear idea whether a cumulative business (domestic and overseas) is taken into account, or the domestic only is the prime barometer of bo' success/failure.

That's right, domestic collections are the barometer for BO success.

Shiddhat already looks tacky and out of place...seems like some directors haven't learnt anything from Bombay Velvet/Rangoon,if you are making a period movie make something like SLB does, atleast the sets are gorgeous and appeal to the audience.Period movies like Rangoon/BV should be made on a very low bidget imo i don't think people would watch a movie where actors look comical with hideous styling.
It'd be interesting to see how far he takes Shiddhat though as it happens to be his first high budget movie otherwise low budget movies have been saving his face till now.

Where did you see the first look of Shiddat? I think I missed it in the 50 pages of Padmavati. 😆

None of his films will be allowed to be declared flops..kisi na kisika calculator chalega to increase the collections
The way his average collections are also boasted...I doubt anybody would want this new superstar to flop in this bad time for the industry

The thumb rule is that a film has to make double its budget to be a hit. And Dilwale could not even make half of that.

The thing is BOI always give semi-hit tag to flop big budget films, may be because of their clout or to give them a respectable tag. But everyone knows it's a flop.

It's not double the budget. The theatrical revenue must be double of the price it was sold to distributors in India to become a hit. That's where the distribution share factors in. That share determines the verdict of movies.

Dishoom is a flop. Though the trade gives him too much leeway and acts as it is a hit.

I'd assume so too. It didn't have any impact and wasn't a low-budget movie either.

So far it looks boring and SRK is having a Brad Pitt hangover. And it has Suhana, the worst actress ever to hit the industry. What do you think?...
