Hehe, thanks. You write equally well! ❤️
I remember watching this film as a kid with Aftab Srivastava I think, I'm not too sure if that's his name. It was called Idiot Box i think...these were the times when you had no social media and had to borrow DVD or rent them out. And the film had a parallel story on how a TV actress was seen in a certain way and that image stayed, no matter the transitioning. And many films and articles focus on how films if they want to launch someone they prefer a fresh face.
You're right about the overexposure. Especially with TV stars, their PR is fairly new and is still learning but they keep mistaking that any publicity is good publicity. It's not. It's funny how tv has two sets... One who are TRP leaders and the other who are social media leaders and are touted as the king and queen by their PR released articles.
I don't know, earlier people used to say that you need this aura to be a star in Bollywood. I never really got it. But I remember the first time I saw Deepika on the big screen or Priyanka in Aitraz in tv and went awe while I sat glued to the screen. I was tiny then, but I realised that I would see these people in a long time.
In television a rare few have that in that. Like Sanaya Irani when she played Khushi or Paro, Divyanka when she played Ishita initially with her tiny Ruhi, Drashti Dhami with Geet. While Drashti doesn't indulge in publicity (as per my knowledge), Sanaya doesn't bother and Divyanka over publicises everything. I'm waiting for this actress who will change the industry like they say how Sakshi Tanwar or Shweta did once. In TRP numbers Sriti Jha is leading queen, followed by Rubina and Mouni Roy. I can't wait to see Sriti shine. She's a gem! Jyoti, then that NDTV show where she played a blind girl, Saubhagyavati Bhava and now her Zee show. And she's well collected, demure, pretty and extremely well read. And not to mention she acts well! Maybe it's her. 😆
One thing I like about TV is how it has taken people from no name places and different backgrounds and changed their life forever. It's admirable.
And about TV actors leaving successful shows for films, man the fame really does get to people. Which is one of the reasons I love Sanaya. Apparently she had been getting amazing offers during IPKKND days for films (the show was crazy popular, still is) and she stuck to the tv show coz she was committed to it and we know what happened later. It's admirable, truly. And honestly, tv actors don't really good roles unlike Siddharth Shukla in Badri ki Dulhaniya (i think) or whichever Alia Varun had thay NRI groom thing going on.
I agree with the one minute and three hour statement. But then Pakistani tv or kdrama are different to Indian tv. As a kdrama viewer, I can't pick a drama unless I intend to be 100 percent focussed on it. Same with pakistani drama because the writing is crisp, cinematography is amazing (esp kdramas) and scenarios change without warning. I remember watching ZGH and they had leaps of years without any warning and I had to stop and go back to understand time and how it flew. Like when Kashaf gave her civil service exam (if I'm not wrong) and the next scene was result months later. Such subtle and beautiful writing and leaps. Indian tv is what I call background noise. You don't need to pay attention to it. (No offense to anyone meant.) The writing is mostly below par, monotonous, dramatic, annoying background music and the fact that the show goes on for years. You know a character or two and you're fine to use it as background noise when meal prepping, discussing or having chai with family. The difference is huge. Once again, I didn't mean to be rude. And I'm sorry if it sounded rude if you're an Indian tv fan. Most shows that run for years are ^ what I mentioned about, in my opinion.
