Ch 39 : You Are The One
Nothing. He felt nothing seeing the girl he once claimed to love. Kriya was seated in the living area along with Sharon and Swayum, busy in chit chatting. The trio was completely unaware of their presence. Rey knew it was coming. One day or other, he'd to face her, specially after knowing Kriya was Sharon's sister.
He couldn't avoid her, nor did he want to. He's moved on. For good.
"Rey," he heard a low whisper from his left and realized he'd some explaining to the girl he loves. He doesn't want his past to create any kind of misunderstanding in his relationship with taani.
Rey looked over at his girlfriend who looked nervous, she looking at him with eyes full of fear. He could understand where she was coming from. He'd never talk to her about his past and their relationship was still in delicate state. They were still getting to know each other.
Rey reached out and held her hand in his. "You don't have to worry about it, taani. I'm only yours."
He watched as her face softened up and relief washed over her features. He smiled when she reached out to hold his hand in hers. He tightened his hold, assuring her.
"I was afraid." taani whispered meekly.
"You don't have to." Rey was quick to reply. He didn't want her to have any kind of doubt regarding their relationship and him. He was clear of his thoughts. He wants her. Just her. "You are the one for me."
"-but kriya?"
"She was my past. Can you trust me over this? I love only you, taani." he whispered softly, inching closer to her. He looked deep into her eyes, hoping she'd see his true feelings.
Taani nodded through misty eyes. She trusted him. She could see love for her gleaming in his brown orbs and it assured her he was hers.
"I trust you, Rey." Taani whispered back. "And I love you, too,"
Rey couldn't help a smile.
"Kriya is Sharon's sister and that's why she is here, if you are wondering." He explained it to her what he knew about Kriya and Sharon's history. Taani listened to him quietly then nodded her head in understanding, feeling kind of relief to see him not affected by the presence of his ex.
"Chale? Mujhse bahut bhook lagi hai." Rey said to her, making a cute face which made her laugh.
"Chaliye," she smiled as they moved to the living area. Sharon, Swayum, and kriya became aware of their presence and an awkward silence prevailed in the room.
Taani could feel the thick tension in the air and decided to break the silence which was turning suffocating.
"Hey, bhai. Won't you introduce me to our guest?" taani asked her brother who smiled nervously in response.
Taani stole a glance at Rey who looked least interested in greeting and meeting. He wasn't even looking at kriya and for some reasons, it made her smile.
"Yes, taani. She's Kriya, sharon's sister and my best friend." Swayum introduced them to each other. Taani turned to face Kriya and passed a small smile to her. She doesn't have anything against her, though she was Rey's ex.
"Hey, taani. I have heard alot about you from Swayum." Kriya said to her while she kept stealing glances at Rey who gave a royal ignore to her. It saddened her.
"Rey, please have a seat. We were all talking about old days," Sharon chirped, sensing the tension in the room.
"Sorry, Sharon. I'm famished and taani promised to cook for me." Rey said, grabbing taani's hand, he dragged her away from there to the kitchen. He left others astonished but no one questioned him. They thought he was trying to get away from Kriya for obvious reasons.
Kriya stared at his retreating figure, her gaze fixed over his hand which was holding onto taani's.
"Your sister seems pretty close to Rey?" Kriya turned to Swayum and raised at eyebrow at him.
"Nothing like that. They are GS-AGS, so sometimes hang out together." Swayum replied to her, smiling slightly. Kriya returned the smile, feeling relived to hear that.
"I'm so nervous, guys. I'm starting college officially from tomorrow." Kriya voiced out her fear. The college still think of her to be a betrayer and it was making her nervous. How was she going to face them all?
"Everything will be alright, Kriya. We are with you." Sharon said to her sister, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Thanks, shar." Kriya side hugged her sister.
***Rey moved behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. A soft gasp escaped her lips and red hues spread across her cheeks in shyness.
"Rey, what are you doing? Bhai is outside-" taani tried getting away from him but it resulted into him tightening his grip around her waist.
"Why do you always try to get away from me?" he asked, placing his chin on her shoulder. A small smile touching his cheeks. He loved the sight of her cooking for him.
"Nothing is like that, Mister. I don't want bhai or anyone to catch us in this situation. It will get awkward." She replied, smiling at him. Rey sighed, her fruity fragrance was driving him crazy. He wanted nothing else than to hold her in his arms forever and show her how special she is to him.
His lifeline.
When he met her, he didn't knew one day he'd fall so hard for her. But his feelings for her are turning intense with every passing moment. He was loosing himself to her and he didn't regret.
"Rey-" taani called out to him.
"Yes, sweetheart." he nuzzled his face in the crook of her neck. An uncontrollable shiver ran down along the length of her spine.
"I'm going to shopping tomorrow. Aap bhi chaloge?" she tilted her head to look at him with a cute pout adorning her lips.
"If you keep giving me these looks, how can I deny?" he raised an eyebrow at her, hugging her tight.
"I'll come." Rey said, giving a wet peck on her cheeks. Taani closed her eyes, heat rushing to her cheeks. She could never understand the way her body reacts to him. It was amusing as well as alluring.
Taani looked at him, she still couldn't believe this man is hers. Only hers.
