EDT~ep 3. 25.10.17. My Stance.. Ruling passion..
It's hard to over look the story title ,"there was an obsessed being. Obsession bears connotation with the workings of the mind, sometimes triggered by emotions and sentiments. As viewers we are being readily challenged by the two characters so far introduced namely Vyom and Sharanya. It s beginning to appear like a subtle tug of war between the forgotten Vyom and the vulnerable Sharanya who insists she is unable to relate to past emotional connections Vyom insists on making with her. Gradually his claims are beginning to sound like an exertion. Can his sentiments towards Sharanya come under the umbrella of true love? or some form of fixation, a preoccupation.. or some phobia?? Is he truly what he seems to be? In the main so far, he comes across as an enthusiastic lover? Well wisher? friend.. baffling.. but then what goes on in ones heart and mind , is not easily gleaned , especially if one is working to a purpose and hidden agenda. It would not be out of place to point out that Sharanya's mental illness not only gives Vyom the opportunity to perhaps play on her mind, with constantly referring to their past emotional involvement ,but also gives him the chance to begin anew his buried bond with her ,by caring for Sharanya in her period of recuperation..
Sharanya, too has her own condition to contend with. One lost in the corridors of time. She sees and briefly veers towards visions of bright spot lights! much fascinated, till a palm frightens her enough to scream and pass out! Is the incident orchestrated by someone? Or is it a strange unexplained incident! Whatever it is, but it most certainly brings Vyom flying to her rescue, he yells for patient support!
Even the doctor is taken aback by Vyom's desperation for Sharanya to be physically restored.. briskly. Vyom, is easily seen as an impatient and restless lover! His sentiments for Sharanya ,or what ever they had together , is easily accepted by all around him, as his committed and faithful love towards Sharanya .. is that how he wants to come across, still? The doctor seems familiar enough with him,which is another plus point for him to be in close proximity with her.
It 's hard for Vyom to dither from his task, to help her convalesce and bring her back to him like she was two years ago.. he wants to feel her brow, as one does to a sick loved one. But he recollects her words! Don't touch her! he refrains, but then again he muses as he looks down at the sleeping Sharanya .. wishes he could take away her pain, he feels her pain..sighs if only she could sense his smarting.. at the very thought of parting from her.. coldly, then he covers her bids her night!night! and leaves.it's like he knows he will continue to sing from the same song sheet of her lost two years.. she has lost those years, but he will play upon those erased moments with Sharanya , till her memory about time with him loosens.. is this his love or some passion that claims his head .. strangely, Sharanya is this hospital for partial memory loss... can Vyom said to be suffering from some mental disorder too? He seems to have slipped through the net!
Vyom's exit makes room for another being's entry.. a presence hovers around Sharanya's ward.. where Vyom covered her. Some being pulls off the very cover and flings it aside.. symbolically Vyom's mantle of protection is roughly pulled off! A tune, familiar to her plays.. It 's clearly a deathly presence , the girl gets cold shivers! Her spontaneous cry for her parents is useless they'd gone home! In panic she steps out of room.. her walk in the semi, dimly lit, silent corridors, cutting corners, going down stair cases.. is symbolically a scene where a girl is in search of her lost memory. Locked doors of the hospital are those areas of her mind where the ability to recollect past events, are hidden away from her. Yet Sharanya ,searches on... stealthily a figure follows her, brushes past her.. a dark blue trainer with a black rubber sole clad ,foot step is seen.. then a tall figure behind her..she runs! lights blink! Who is it ?? she shouts, the figure in dark blue walks at her, she screams ,stumbles and falls!!! then with a startle wakes up in bed! a nightmare..
Vyom runs in to console and calm her.. she hugs him! such bliss for him ,but he always manages to restrain his emotions.. slow and gradual is his method to win her back! So tactile passion has to be kept at bay at least from his side. Soon enough she realizes her action and withdraws from embracing him.seeing him beside her in a flustered moment, softens her attitude and an apology and thanks follows from her to him.. a sensible conversation happens, especially from her side.. she doesn't want him to get any fancy ideas about her..she clarifies she has no recollection of him or his love for her.. but he too has selective hearing and strums the notes that were sure shot winners with her previously.. Vyom plays the faith card.. tells her she taught him to believe, he prayed and she woke up from a coma..after two years.. now he will pray that the distance between them persishes.. he explains, she finds it difficult to connect to her.. and he cannot forget being with her in the past two years.. she tells him not to expect much from her.. only for Vyom the one realism is what she felt for him? in the past two years.. or how he felt? But at the end of this conversation.. due to her scare, she allows him to sleep in the ward.. he settles on a visitors settee in the room ..keeping vigil over her.. just what he desired.. is this his fetish, madness or unrequited love?
His mother answers the question.. she peeps in, sees her son and hisses.. Sharanya has survived , but Vyom is lumbered with being obsessed all over her .. hard to figure out is this his love or some madness??
Both their parents, apparently got along fine with each other.. apart from Vyom's mother..who probably saw from day one that Sharanya didn't quite feel the same way for Vyom as her son did..so this is another reason now for me, to deduce that there is a difference between appearance and reality with Vyom.. Sharanya .. told him straight, she feels, nothing,nor remembers anything about him.. and now Vyom's mother Madhvi too is not too keen either on Sharanya or her family.
New day dawns, Vyom is beside Sharanya in the hospital.. he plans to give her a bunch of red roses, but deliberately pushes them over ,to draw her attention.. so that she insists on wanting to see what he is hiding.. he tries again, to say it flowers. Sharanya yet again asks him not to get the wrong messages from her side.. as she cannot relate to him, two years of her life are quite lost to her.. and what's more she might never remember them either... Vyom peers at her frigidly from behind his specs.. he fixes his eyes on her intently.. as she comes clear with him.. her words just bounce off him.. he coldly sides his face ,catches his breath calmly..and then turns back to look at her.. funny, she cannot connect to him.. and he cannot disconnect with anything that is connected with her! and curtly, he leaves her room..
Her parents give her a mouthful.. remind her of his essential goodness of not just looking out for her but for them as well.whilst she was ill.. for the past two years..they said they are not forcing him upon her.. but it appears they are! Maybe they are taken in by the possible high station of the Bedi's.. it 's clear now, their daughter feels nothing for Vyom.. looking back to previous episodes, the Bishts were overly keen on Vyom... making it easier for him to do whatever he has up his sleeve! What really happened in the past two years?
Sorry.. but she didn't like the flowers.. her favourite are stargazer Lilies.. the look on Vyom's face when Sharanya tells him, is cold blooded and lethal.. he recalls the bunch of flowers she was sent when she came around.. Lilies.. so it seems.. some being he hated two years ago is still about? Lilies.. symbolic of peace, purity.. and equated with death and bereavement... Hamlet53 26.10.17
