Chapter 13
Mahek sat on the bed and watched Shaurya put their little Ayaan to sleep. Soon he was sound asleep with a smile on his face. "I'll go see mom and freshen up,you go get ready I'll pick you both up in an hour or so." Shaurya told Mahek. "Are we leaving tonight?" Asked Mahek. "Yes we are,I want Ayaan to open his eyes at the camp grounds,it'll be a birthday surprise for him." Planting a kiss on her forehead,he came down and left towards the door. Before turning the door knob,he turned. Mahek was coming down the stairs with her lahenga half lifted up. Her eyes were on her feet,admiring the anklet he had gifted her. She smiled shyly as the anklet made little musical sounds. Shaurya simply looked at her,smiling. Suddenly she tripped on her lahenga and with a cry she was about to go down when two strong arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her close."Sambhal ke peaches!" Terrified,Mahek hugged him tight with a sob. Shaurya could hear her heart beating against his. He enveloped her in his arms protectively. "I got you babes...you didn't fall..you are ok...Rona mat." Shaurya nuzzled against her neck before whispering in her ear, "Is this the attire you wore at the bridal fair?" Mahek nodded on his chest. "I wear it every year on karwachauth." Shaurya tilted her head up. "You kept it so well,it looks as if we bought it today." Mahek smiled. "Whatever you gave me is very precious to me Shaurya and I take care of it with my heart and soul." Shaurya poked on her nose. "Like what?" Mahek buried her head in his bosom. "Like our baby..our bundle of joy Ayaan." Shaurya wanted to say something but Mahek pressed her finger on his lips. "Hmm hmm! Not now! Save it for later ..we'll have plenty of time at the camp grounds..now go and come back fast,we'll be waiting." She pushed him to the door. "Arey but let me at least kiss you!" "Nahi...not now..baad mein." Pushing him out,she closed the door and blushed. "I'll see how you stop me from doing whatever I want to do at the camp miss sharma!" Blabbering,he went to his car. Smiling,Mahek went upstairs to her room to pack for the camp.
Two hours later MehRya were on their way to the camp grounds with their cutie pie sleeping on the back seat of the car. Vicky and Shaurya's other friends were following behind them. Sonal and Neeraj had already left before them. It was past midnight and Maheks eyes were dropping close. Shaurya was busy talking with vicky via Bluetooth when Mahek shifted more towards him and rested her head on his shoulder and slept. He kissed her so many times until they reached the camp grounds. "Peaches,we are here..wake up." Mahek fluttered her eyes open at his voice. It was still dark outside. She twitched her head to see if Ayaan was still asleep. And yes he was. "What's the time?" She asked rubbing her eyes as he parked the car. "5 am,I'll carry Champ to the cabin,grab whatever you can and follow us." Mahek got out of the car and looked around. She couldn't see much in the dark but her heart was beating faster. This was the place where her love story had begun. This was the place where Shaurya made love to her and she conceived their baby. And today their baby was turning five. Tears formed in her eyes recalling her past five years with Ayaan who grew without his daddy's love but his presence was always with them. Miss Lucy who knew they were coming,saw her standing by the car, hurried towards her. "Mahek beta!" "Miss Lucy!" Mahek hugged her tight. "Oh miss Lucy How have you been?" Miss Lucy caressed her head. "Oh I have been fantastic! Come to the foyer,I need to talk to you girl!" Miss Lucy pulled her towards the foyer. Mahek twitched her head to see Shaurya but he was already inside the cabin with little Ayaan. "Miss Lucy,Shaurya will look for me,he doesn't know I'm here with you." Said Mahek worriedly. "Oh don't worry dear he knows where to find you." Just as Mahek was climbing the steps to the reception area,her eyes fell on the billboard near the office. The board read, "Private property and not for public use." Miss Lucy pulled a chair and made her sit in the foyer. "I didn't get it,this camp is not for public use anymore?" Asked Mahek with a confused look on her face. "Yes my dear,five years ago when you left this place,the very next day Shaurya came back and bought the entire camp ground." Maheks jaw dropped open. "Are you kidding me? Did he say why he was buying this place?" Miss Lucy smiled. "He said he is buying this place because it is full of your memories." Mahek couldn't believe her ears. Tears swam in her eyes. "We didn't touch his cabin since last five years,he had told us to leave it as it is,and every year he visits this place alone." That was it! Her heart pinched and tears flowed. "I heard you have a little boy,did you both get married?" Miss Lucy asked while handing her a tissue box. Mahek stood up and dried her tears. "Yes miss Lucy,I have an amazing little boy who is my life but no I'm not married to shaurya..I wish I was." Miss Lucy's mouth turned into an O. "Is he the father of your child?" "Yes he is." Mahek handed her the tissue box back and left from there. "It was nice seeing you miss Lucy!" Same here darling! I'd really love to see your son!" Howled miss Lucy. "You'll meet him soon miss Lucy!"
Glancing at the cabin where she and Sonal stayed,she stepped in Shaurya's cabin. Emotions washed over her. "Stop it Mahek! It's your baby's birthday,you shouldn't be crying! Cheer up and smile!" Her inner being told her. Putting on a smile she went to the living room but no one was there. Sonal saw her coming. "Meri Jaan Don't ask me any questions,just follow me quitely!" Sonal grabbed her hand and pulled her to a room which was packed with Shaurya and Maheks friends. Mahek saw The room was decorated nicely with blue and white balloons and all types of toys and story books. Presents were lying all over the room. "It looks like a little Disney land,isn't it?" Whispered Sonal. Mahek could only nod her head,she would cry if she said another word. In the middle of the room was a little bed on which little Ayaan was sleeping. Shaurya was sitting on the bed holding a giant cupcake with five candles on it. Everyone were waiting patiently for the little master to wake up. Mahek looked at the arrangement in awe. Shaurya saw her and sighed in relief. He gestured her to sit beside him and she obeyed. She looked at him with teary eyes. "Thank you!" She said softly. Shaurya smiled. Just then,Ayaan rubbed his eyes and yawned. When everyone thought he would wake up,he slept again holding his teddy's ears. "Arey utho na mere Baap!" Vicky said with a frown. "Ek minute,I'll wake him up!" Sona masi took his teddy away from his hand. He flung open his eyes at once. "My teddy!! He screamed. "Happy birthday Ayaan!" screamed everyone gathered there. He sat up at once and looked around in amusement. He looked at his parents and then at the giant cupcake. "Oh it is really my birthday! Thank you everyone!" He flashed his teeth. "Now make a wish and blow the candles." Shaurya told him. "Sure dad!" He jumped on the bed twice as if it was a trampoline,Shaurya and Mahek almost fell off the bed along with the cupcake. He covered his mouth with his little hands. "Oops! Sorry guys! I'm too excited to keep my hands and feet to myself. Everyone laughed. He closed his eyes and said a silent prayer instead of making a wish. "Dear God ji,you have given me my papa back,just do one more thing for me,can you get my momma papa married so that we can live under one roof? Please and thank you!" He opened his eyes and blew the candles. Everyone sang happy birthday song as his parents helped him cut the cupcake. They fed him together. "Yummy! Now my turn!" He fed his papa and then his mom. "Sona masi! Neeraj uncle! Vicky chachu please come!" He called them loudly. He fed them one by one. "Rest of papas friends and mommas friends can also come!" "Aww he's such a cutie pie!" Jenna,one of Maheks friend said. He fed them all one by one. All were amazed at how smart Ayaan was.
"We'll go wait in the dinning hall,you guys join us for breakfast after you spend some time with Ayaan." Said Sonal and took everyone to the foyer where miss Lucy has arranged for breakfast buffet. "Thanks dad! Thanks mom! This is the best birthday ever!" He hugged them both. "I love you both!" MehRya hugged him. "We love you too!" "Did you notice you are in a different room?" Asked Shaurya. "Yes dad I was about to ask! We are in your cabin at wild rose isn't it?" Shaurya ruffled his hair. "Yes we are!" He jumped out of bed. "Oh wow! This is the place where momma fell in love with you!" He spread his arms out and twirled around in circles. Shaurya looked at Mahek who had tears in her eyes. He moved towards her and cupped her cheeks. "I broke your heart peaches,its about time I fixed it!" Mahek threw herself in his arms and sobbed. He stood like that with her in his arms for sometime. "Dad I need to shower and brush my teeth! Later I will explore the camp!" Shaurya kissed Maheks forehead. "I'll go shower him,unpack your things we'll go and eat shortly." Mahek nodded. "Let's go buddy!" Shaurya picked him up and kissed him all over the face! His rough stubbles tickled him. Little Ayaan laughed and laughed. "Suno." Mahek said softly. "Hmm bolo." "Woh..I mean to say can I go to your room?" He looked at her. "You don't have to ask peaches." Mahek nodded and left toward his room. The room where they had made love five years ago.
His room was exactly same as it was five years ago. She closed the door and turned. Her gaze roamed the room. Nothing had changed. The sheets on the bed were same,curtains and everything else. She sat on the bed and ran her fingers on the bedspread. Her earrings and broken bangles lay on the bed. She touched them gently. Tears escaped the corner of her eyes. "Just one night on this bed has changed my entire life..just one night with you has given me five painful years Shaurya." She sobbed. Just then the door opened and little Ayaan came running inside in a towel. "Mommy! Hide me papa is coming behind me!" "Aww..come here!" Mahek hid him in her chest and wrapped her arms around him and kissed all over his head. "That one night has given me you Ayaan...when I look at you I forget all my pain and suffering I endured for the past five years baby." She hugged him tight to her chest. "Champ,where are you? Put some clothes on otherwise the bugs with get you bacchey!" Shaurya called from outside the room. "You have to go love,papa is waiting for you. Get ready then he will take you for a yummy breakfast and then we'll both show you around." "Ok momma! Dad I'm coming!" He hopped out the door. Just then Meena stepped in with a terrified face. "Mahek Di,I'll tell Shaurya sir everything before he wrings my neck! And Bhagwan his angry glares can make me wet my pants Di!" She wiped the sweat from her temple. "Don't worry,I'll tell him everything before he finds out from you or somebody else,now go have your breakfast,I'll come with Shaurya and Ayaan in a while." Nodding her head in relief,Meena went from there. Sitting there,her mind took her back in time when she was pregnant five years ago.
Five years ago
"Sonal,this catering business from home has grown in the past few months,I was thinking to rent a building and do the catering from there." Mahek told Sonal one day. "Meri Jaan! What will people think if you go out with a big baby bump? Most people know you are single around here,they will question you if they see your baby bump,please stay here and continue your catering business from home,and when the baby is born then do whatever you want to." Said Sonal. Meena also supported Sonal. Mahek had no choice but to listen to them. "Here take this,cover your head and face if you go out,I don't want your maami to see and come after you or the baby." Said Sonal while giving her a shawl. Mahek frowned and took the shawl. Every morning Mahek goes to the market with Meena to get fresh fruits and vegetables. But that particular morning she was having back pain. "Di you stay home I'll go to the market today and get whatever you want." Said Meena. "Arey nai..I'm okay to walk,it's good for me and the baby." Covering her face with a shawl,she and Meena stepped out of the house. Marketplace was really busy and crowded with people. Someone bumped into Mahek,with a cry she squeezed her eyes shut and prepared for the fall when two strong arms came around her preventing her from the mishap. She opened her eyes to find herself in Shaurya's arms. Her face was covered and all he could see was her big brown eyes. "Are you hurt? Is the baby ok? He asked while steadying her. Mahek nodded as tears filled her eyes and she quickly looked away. "Were you trying to reach the fruits stall?" He asked. "Ji." She said softly. "Wait here I'll be back." He left. "Bhagwan please I don't know what plans you have in store for me,Whatever it is I don't want it." She looked for Meena but she wasn't in sight. Few minutes later she showed up. Just then Shaurya also came there with a bag full of fruits. "Are you with her?" He asked Meena. "Ji and you are?" "I'm Shaurya,Shaurya khanna!" Meena swallowed at the name and looked at Mahek. Mahek gestured her to keep quite. "Nice to meet you Shaurya,I'm Meena,her maid." "Take this and don't bring her out here in this place,she and her baby might get hurt in the crowd." Saying that he handed her the bag,glancing at Mahek he said "take care." And left. Both Mahek and Meena let out the breath they were holding. They hurried home without turning back and locked the door. "He saved me and my baby today.." Mahek sat on the bed and rubbed her baby bump. "But I really don't want him to know I am Mahek and I'm carrying his baby as he must be married by now to that Pooja." "Don't worry he will not know." Meena assured her. Since that day,Every morning someone would leave a basket full of fruits by their door and go. Mahek knew it was Shaurya. "Unknowingly he's doing it for his baby,so enjoy!"Sonal told her one day. One morning there was a knock at the door. Meena went and opened it. Her eyes widened when she saw Shaurya standing there with a basket full of all kinds of fruits!" "This is for her...sorry I don't know her name." Meena bit her fingernails to figure what to say. "Her name is laddo!" Shaurya laughed. "What kind of name is that? Anyway,give this to laddo and by the way how is she?." Mahek was standing behind the door listening. Her baby kicked. "Does the baby recognize his daddy's voice?" With tears She rubbed her belly. "Oh god I so much want him to touch my tummy and feel the baby kick." As shaurya continued to talk to Meena,her baby moved and kicked and kicked. "Baby must be happy to hear his daddy's voice." She thought. Lone tear escaped the corner of her eyes. "We both miss you Shaurya..." she sobbed. "Where did you get our address from?" Meena Asked him. "Sorry I followed you home the other day." He told her the truth. "So all the fruits baskets on our doorstep was it from you?" Shaurya nodded. "Yes it was,for laddo and her baby."
Mahek was in her ninth month. It was raining heavily that day. She wasn't feeling good since morning. Buses,auto and cabs were on strike in her area. "Meena,please don't go anywhere today,I might have to go to the hospital." "Oh Di don't say that! At least not today and in this weather I won't be able to find a ride to get you to the delivery room." Meena was worried sick as Sonal was away too. Suddenly Mahek started to feel her contractions. "Meena,I think my water broke and I'm having labour pains! Please call the ambulance or someone!" Cried Mahek. "Oh god! What should I do?" She was dialling for the ambulance when there was a knock on the door. "May be Sonal is back!" She rushed to the door to find Shaurya standing there. "You are an angel In disguise! You came at the right time,mah..I mean laddo is having labour pains and I can't find anyone to take her to the hospital!" "What? Where's her husband?" Meena pulled him inside. "She doesn't have a husband for god sake she's single! Now can you give us a ride to the hospital please?" Shaurya rushed inside behind Meena. Mahek was screaming in pain."Shaurya is here,he will take us to the hospital okay?." She wrapped the shawl around her face and helped her up. "Wait! I'll carry her." Without a second thought he scooped her up in his arms and carried her to his car. Meena got in behind Mahek and tried to calm her down. Shaurya got in behind the wheel and sped towards the city hospital. Heavy rain was making it impossible to drive but he made it somehow. He carried her inside. Mahek was screaming with the pain. She clutched his shirt tight and the buttons broke. Her fingernails dug on his neck but he kept quite. "Women's ward please! And get her a doctor fast!" The nurse directed them to the delivery room and quickly called a doctor. Shaurya left her on the stretcher. "I'll be outside with your maid,the doctors will attend you right away!" Saying that he was about to leave when Mehek grabbed his hand. "Thank you Shaurya..please don't leave yet." He turned towards her. "Your voice sounds so familiar ..I wish I could see your face." Tears rolled down Maheks cheeks. "I wish I could show you my face." She said in her heart. Doctors arrived and Shaurya had to leave. "You have a chain in your hand." A nurse told her as she helped her change into a gown. Mahek looked at her hand. She remembered pulling on Shaurya's shirt and neck. "It's his,unknowingly he left it with me ..this will now give me strength to go through the pain." Shaurya paced the hall with Meena. An hour later a nurse came out with the good news. "Congratulations it's a boy! Mother and son are both doing well." Shaurya was smiling after a long time. "I'll just come please don't go anywhere!" Meena told Shaurya and ran inside. Mahek gave her baby to Meena. "I want Shaurya to hold him and name him and if he asks why just tell him he brought us safely to the hospital ..and he proved to be an angel in disguise" Meena brought the baby outside the room and gave it to shaurya. "Aww he's a cute baby!" He kissed his head softly. Their bundle of joy made a soft sound. "Di is asking you to name him." "Oh I'll be honoured!" He thought for a second then said. "Ayaan!"
Back to the present
"Mommy look what I found! It's Buffy from your diary!!" Ayaan ran inside with the little puppy in his lap. "Oh where did you find him?" Asked Mahek while caressing the puppy. "Dad said he doesn't want to go home with him that's why he lives here with miss Lucy." "Oh! I missed you baby.." Buffy recognized Mahek instantly. He jumped from Ayaan's lap to Meheks lap and licked her cheeks. Ayaan just laughed and laughed. "He loves you mommy!" "Yes he does!" "Can we take him home?" Asked Ayaan. "Of course you can buddy!" Shaurya walked inside the room. "Thanks dad!" He gave Shaurya a side hug. "Peaches,you are still sitting here,go freshen up everyone's waiting for us in the dinning hall." Mahek gave the puppy back to Ayaan. "I'll go find Sona masi,I really want them to see what I found." Saying that little Ayaan hopped away in search of his masi and the new masi's he made. "Shaurya,can I stay in the cabin I stayed before?" He walked towards her and Mahek swallowed. "Kiyu? Is something wrong with this cabin that you can't stay? Or is it the memories that's bothering you?" Mahek gulped and walked backwards until she collided with the wall. He caged her between his powerful arms. "You are staying right here in this cabin with me! You and our child!" "But Shaurya..." he cut her off. "I asked you to stay here and not to sleep with me so chill!" He ran his fingers on her cheeks. "You sleep on the bed and I'll sleep on the sofa...or if you want we can sleep on the bed ...but don't worry I'll keep my things to myself." Colour rose to her cheeks. He pecked her glossy lips. "I want to make up for the lost time and I need your cooperation so will you cooperate miss sharma?" In response,Mahek went in his embrace,listening to his rhythmic heartbeat. He stroked her hair from her face, his fingers brushing lightly across her cheek then over her temple. Her skin tingled at his touch. She gazed up at him and smiled timidly, suddenly feeling shy. "Making up to me will not be easy Mr! I'm not that 18 year old girl anymore,I am a grown up woman now!" Shaurya scanned her from top to bottom,His eyes grew needier as he watched her. she felt so powerful being able to affect him like this. He could imagine every soft curve of her body, every swell and every hollow. His gaze stopped at her bosom. "I can see how big and beautiful you have grown." Mahek could have died in embarrassment. His finger trailed from her cheeks to her throat and reached her cleavage,before his rough hands could reach her softnes,Mahek screamed. "Ayaan!" Shaurya let her go and looked at the door but ayaan wasn't there. He saw Mahek escaping. "Peaches stop or else I'll make you payl!" Before he could catch her and punish her sweetly,she was in the washroom with the door shut. He could hear her giggle. "Told ya! Making up to me is not that easy Shaurya khanna!" He smiled. "We'll see about that peaches!"
