EDT~ep1. 23.10.17. My Stance..Prayer, a light in the darkest hour..
For those who believe in their personal deity and have a faith, often feel the need to communicate in prayer with their deity, both in times of joy and sorrow.. Offering prayers ranges from thanksgiving, praise, to collective worship. However prayers of supplication , where devotees ask for favorable mercies from their deities are most poignant, where there is the realization that a devotee is a mere mortal in comparison to the omnipotent deity that is worshipped.
The first episode for me, captures the larger than life grandeur of landscape. Images of Maata, the mother goddess's temple high above the sea level in the mountainous terrain .The sprouting of the water springs! the precarious steep narrow winding slippery path! that leads up to the Maata's temple, are all images that serve to magnify the persona of the mother deity, and reminds devotees of their mortal needs. Maata's ancient gaint size idol that has stood the test of time itself speaks of her authority over her devotees.Making their way up to Maata's temple is in itself a test of the devotee's, faith and perseverance! How they have to bear the brunt of the rough terrain on foot and the elements of nature! just to worship her. Such is the fervor of one's faith!
Time is a key factor , cannot be lost! The puja needs to be underway! Vyom! Too has a set agenda! He races his car down the winding precarious roads up to the temple! He has no time to make it by foot! Till a point, he abandons his car and then races barefoot across the plodding queue leading up to the temple, trip! fall! balance! stumble! Yes it was just like his faith! Never believed in Maata! Yet from her benevolent eyes she sees this desperate way ward son of hers! The fire pots he snatches up the steps! To show her his fervor and desperation! This son of hers is needy! She looks down mercifully, as he finally falls flat before her altar! Flanked by the smashed earthenware fire pots. The flames burned around him, but fiery tongues stay clear of his face on the ground. The goddess looks down at this once lost son of hers. His needs dance around his face in the flames of fire.. Vyom's heart is contrite, humbled.. yes today the mother goddess will hear his cries!
Vyom's prayer is all about being genuinely sorry for being a nonbeliever in Maata's power! He never really felt the need till now when the girl he loves is nothing more than living a vegetable existence.. its moving when he intercedes on beloved's behalf! He pleads for mercy , Sharanya believes in the invincible mother goddess.. he beseeches , Sharanya is the one to veer him spiritually! She taught him to go down on his knees, with folded hands pray to receive the mother goddess's favor. The mother goddess, could make out the helplessness ,the perseverance and his budding faith in her powers! Both Vyom and Sharanya need healing. Vyom's will be given spiritual healing ,while Sharanya would be physical .. Maata will heal both her children..as she sees the eternal light of love between them.
Faith is seen to heal, two infirm lovers in this first episode. Faith that sometimes baffles the scientific know how too. Sharanya's miraculous recovery is also seen as the outcome of an atheist's prayers. The hospital scene is very heartwarming as ICU, can unhinge and unnerve the strongest amongst us. More so,if it involves mercy killing a dear one ,to end their suffering.. Incidentally loved how Vyom puts on his specs to sheild his tears.. only real men cry Vyom!
Apart from the focus on power of prayer, miracle healing, we get a rough idea of both Vyom and Sharanya's immediate family. Vyom s mother may be the antagonist. Last but not the least, we have Maata's might, contrasted with the supernatural, macabre elements, strange happenings, windows flung up! Sharanya, dangerous insomnia ! almost walking to her death on the roof's edge! Vyom saving her, vowing never to let any third person come between them! Since the past two years death came between them. Her coma. Somewhere on the street below ,a tall bedazzling , silhouette, frame image?? leans against a lamp post.. is this the third person? Dead or alive... eerie.. spine chilling.. Sharanya.. is pulled towards this bling!bling! tall gleaming outline... spooky.. now is this in line with the American festival of Halloween??? or is a ghost?? imaginative stuff!
VIkram,was a delight to watch..did full justice to Vyom! I loved the first episode, my first brush with the supernatural genre.. Waving to people from JNDSD.. hoping they will remember me.. and also looking forward to meeting Namik.. and a big heloo to Namik fans too.. arent we lucky, two handsome guys and a very pretty girl.. unreal experience! much love hammie... hamlet53 24.10.17
