Since ZRA2017 topic has been broached on this thread..I'm sharing few observations
Its a channel award show and not given by any third party event organizer, so Zee can give awards as per their wish and fancies to their own shows..quite understandable. Its evident Zee didn't follow popular awards based on votes polled for ZRA2017, although they promoted voting extensively. It was pre-decided, otherwise nowhere can Fear files and KKB both get into a tie for a Best Popular Show?? 😆
Now Zee wanted to give one individual award each to Sriti & Shabir apart from jodi. (Jodi award they can't escape from giving to Abhigya because Zee team knows what's the USP of KKB and also every year Abhigya performance has become a high light act of ZRA.) Since Sriti got beti award as Pragya she was conveniently omitted from popular female character category, its as simple as that and not because of votes polled..Since Shabir as Abhi could not fit in any other rishtey nominations, they gave him popular male character award.. 😛
Unlike previous years ZRA award categories this year got limited to few, may be due to lack of time as they also had to celebrate 25 years and launch new logo plus branding campaigns. Zee this year has omitted many awards - favorite bahu, damaad, bhai, behen, dost, pota, poti, comedian, supporting characters etc. 😳 hence they could not have accommodated many other actors/actresses of other shows. Now Zee also wanted to give one award to Karan and Preeta of KDB and they some how fitted them, irrespective of categories its a simple calculation..
(But I personally felt Mehak serial team could have got a better deal overall in this award show, as they have far more outreach and popularity during last one year among Zee audiences, have faced some hurdles and survived competition at 8pm slot, have restored many family relationships in their serial and also because entire serial gets shot in Delhi away from Mumbai that too in low budgets..)😒
Last few years Zee has started honoring 3-4 offbeat serials on diverse themes telecast on other GEC's in their annual ZRA event and their jury selection last year was on dot. 😊 But this year it clearly showed they mainly wanted to honor producers Ekta and Gul Khan who have good relationship with Zee, otherwise Naagin 2 and Ishqbaaaz don't even remotely fall under category 'off beat' shows of Colors and SP to be honored specially..😆
Now as a channel Zee has responsibility to promote their new shows well.. its acceptable. But this is where they publicly fumbled since the route taken aren't appropriate.
- Firstly this event was held on Sep 10 in Mumbai and their new 10.30pm serial Dil Dhoondtha Hai started airing from Sep 21, 2017. Then how can this Raavi-Vishy pair get into nominations list and also win new jodi award even before their serial's launch on TV and even before audience got to watch even a single episode?? 😕
- Secondly they gave favorite beta award to a beast from a new show that was launched end of Aug, where as favorite beta of Zee shows unanimously would go to Aditya of Woh Apna Sa, that's basic theme of the show where male lead struggles hard to save his father and family from his wives selfish and evil deeds.
- Thirdly they should NOT have opened public voting system in popular nominations to waste time, energy and to emotionally fool fans, rather could have used some other way of polling to select best fans to promote ZRA..👎🏼
Such acts from a 25 years old globally reputed channel may wrongly reflect on integrity, accountability and respect to viewers.
