biggest blockbusters of the 90s and much
loved by Bollywood buffs. It is a known fact
that Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan were
not the first choices for the roles of the
brothers. Sunaina Roshan in a biography of
her father, Rakesh Roshan To Dad with
Love' had revealed that he wanted to initially
cast Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan but
both of them were experimenting with roles
at that point. While Ajay wanted to romance,
SRK was looking at doing an action film. So,
he thought of casting Salman Khan and
Aamir Khan. While Bhai gave him dates,
Aamir did not have the dates to do the film.
And in the mean time, Shah Rukh Khan
agreed to do the romantic role. Along with
Darr, Karan Arjun is one of the blockbusters
of Shah Rukh Khan that was initially offered
to Aamir Khan. (Also Read: Not Golmaal

In an interview with Rajeev Masand and
Anupama Chopra on their chat show, Take 2
that airs on Saavn.com, Aamir spoke about
rejecting these two films. Talking about
Karan Arjun, he said, "Karan Arjun was also
offered to me by Rakesh Roshan and again I
thought it was a nice story and I told Rakesh
ji that I think it's gonna be a huge, huge hit
but I just don't feel I'm a part of it. At that
time, Aamir was the leading romantic hero
with superhits like Dil, Dil Hai Ke Maanta
Nahin, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and Andaz
Apna Apna in his kitty. On the other hand,
Shah Rukh Khan had established himself as
the anti-hero with flicks like Baazigar and
Darr. Anjaam that released before Karan
Arjun was a flop.
Aamir Khan also spoke about Yash Chopra's
Darr. As we all know, Shah Rukh Khan gave
one of his most memorable performances in
the film and his K-K-K-Kiraan is iconic till
date. In the interview with Chopra and
Masand, Aamir once again clarified that he
did not reject Darr but was thrown out of
the film. He said on the chat show, "I was
doing Darr. I didn't say no to Darr. Darr, I
was removed from so there is a big
difference in that, I was let go off (for asking
too many questions apparently, interjected
Rajeev Masand) Yes for asking too many
questions.
Years before, Aamir in an interview to a film
magazine that he had asked for a joint
narration with Sunny Deol that the late Yash
Chopra apparently refused. In fact, Aamir
was really upset about losing out on the film
and then vowed never to work with Chopra
again.
