Ok I think a scene we should have had is chandu talking about her relationship with her mum to dev when they were kids, chandu being aware that she is not as loved as her sisters, her being scared of her mum partiality and dev promising to take care of her. Dev knowing that chandu is desperate for her mums approval.

This scene would explain why advay thinks she would betray him. Not to get his parents killed but to get her mothers approval she would sell out him and his friendship for that. Each time chandni as an adult told Advay that she would of anything for her mum, Advay had a look that to me said that's why he believes she is capable of lying for her mum.

An eight year old may not have the thought process to plan murders but they are aware of when they are lying. By lying according to dev she betrayed him, because she had already asked him in another flashback whether his mum was a witch, presumably they discussed her question and he told her no, she clearly knew about the association of flying and suspected witchcraft, but she still made such a statement about his mum in public.

The whole time they were in Allahabad Advay only saw chandni being subservient to her mum, who he knows is the evil master planner, only now is he seeing the real grown up chandni .

His declaration yesterday that chandni was not capable was his gut reaction, something he was questioning himself about later.

Child Chandu telling child Dev about her mom
Advay knows very well she can do anything for her mom
And yes she has already asked him if his mom as a witch
Deep down he knows she cannot plot to kill any one
