This is not uncommon. Happens a lot in Bollywood.

There was a song that was supposed to be in Hum Tum which Udit Narayan recorded (it was dropped from the screenplay), but later it was remade as a fresh song for Fanaa and I think Babul Supriyo sang the remake.

@drift. Udit had a song included in hum tum "yarra yarra main toh phisal gaya re"... Babul sang a song with similar tune in faana "Chanda chamke cham cham"

The song Yarra Yarra was not in the film. It was dropped.
