I think non-vegetarian actors should not play Gods, fair enough it is acting and the person isn't really Shri Ram, but at least they should be vegetarian. If they cast non-veg in other roles it's OK, but the roles of Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman should be played by vegetarian actors, as these people will often be associated with God by people.

I do not find anything wrong in it. You have written that public will often associate these actors with God. But they should not. Even if these actors are pure vegetarians, then also they should not be associated with God. After all, they are ordinary mortals like us. Whether they are vegetarians or not, public should not associate them with God.

You may argue that since they are portraying the role of God, therefore they should be vegetarians. But why consider only vegetarianism? Why not qualities like truthfulness, love for all the beings etc.?

👏 I agree with Akhl. It does not matter if they eat meat or not. That is not the most important thing in our religion. And these actors only PLAY god, when people associate them with God, the people are wrong. The actors have a private life, we should not imerge in that only because they play the role of God.

I don't associate them with God, but I was looking at stuff from the Orignal Ramayan, and people were associating the people who played Orignal Ram and Sita with God, and therefore I think it's a bad example to set...

Even tho i'm fiercely vegetarian, I have no problem with meaters playing a Godly role. There's much more to morality than just abstaining from meat. And I know many evil and immoral vegetarians !
I think it shud be a personal choice of the actor. And better yet... hopefully playing a divine part will inspire the meat-eaters to give up 😆

😆 I agree it's more to do with what the person is like in real life, and yes Hitler was a vegetarian

But someone was telling me, and I think it could be true that if the actor eats meat it might encourage others to do so too, because they might see them as "knowing religion well". Believe it or not, people are actually that stupid, they used to even pray to the people who played Sita and Ram 😆
