That's exactly what he is attempting now. Last few days Chandni has been ranting "Tujhe meri parwa hai"... And the precap clearly shows that he is hugging Sasha just to irritate Chandni. Just to prove her wrong. He wants to have the last word in every argument.

In this respect he already behaves as her husband

His ideals have not changed much
But his manners and tactics have changed a lot
He has become such that no one can hurt him like that again
