Chapter 9
RK walked in the apartment after his jog and saw Padmini was sitting in the garden, he walked to her and placed his hand on her shoulder, "Aunty?" He saw her wiping unshed tears. "Are you okay?" He asked facing her.
"Yes.. I am fine." She said caressing his cheek.
"Then why have you tears in your eyes?" RK asked.
"Nothing.. It's just..." She said wiping the tear. "I was thinking about Krishna."
RK looked down in guilt as he remembered the incident. "Don't feel guilty Rishab.. It's just that I am his mother and you know it's obvious to miss.." As she said tears again escaped from her eyes but she quickly wiped them saying, "But I am glad that you accepted Madhu and her unborn child. I know Rishab, everything happened in a rush that you didn't get time to think anything but at the end, you stand for her. Madhu is like my daughter and today I am really happy to see her happy with you. I know you will give them a perfect life."
"Aunty, you don't need to tell all this." RK said taking her hand in him, "Yes, I was mad at her at first but then I realized she hadn't at any fault, it was the situation that put us into this marriage. Aunty, I can't tell you that we are a normal couple but I assure you, I will never leave Madhu, I will try to give her every happiness which she deserves."
"I know Rishab and I am sure one day Madhu will start loving you. I know, till now Madhu didn't forget Krishna but the day will come soon when she will realize your love for her." As she said RK looked up at her shocked, "I have seen the love in your eyes Rishab."
"No aunty.. Nothing like this." RK said looking away.
Padmini made him face her saying, "You can lie to yourself but can't lie to your ma."
"Ma..?"
"Yes.. You are like my son then can't I be your ma?" RK nodded smiling.
"Yes aunt.." But he paused and corrected himself, "Ma?"
"Good." She smiled at him. "Now, come up soon." Saying this she left while RK kept thinking about Madhu. "Do I really love her?" He wondered.
Madhu was preparing breakfast in the kitchen when Padmini came to her saying, "Madhu, you should take rest. Why are you working? Leave..! I will do everything." She said taking the knife from her hand.
"But ma.."
"Ssshh..! Come.." Padmini took her out from the kitchen and made her sit on the chair.
"What happened ma?" Madhu asked worried.
"Are you happy Why Rishab?"
"What type of question is it?" Madhu asked looking away. "He is very nice person. He came in my life when I needed someone most, he gave his name to my baby."
"... And what about you..!"
"Yes.. He also cares for me. You know ma some times he made me feel so special." Madhu said smiling while remembering the night out with him. "He did everything for me."
"Then do you think why he does all this? Is it only for responsibility?" Padmini asked which made Madhu confuse.
"What do you want to say ma?"
"I think, Rishab loves you."
"Ma.. You are mad. Please don't say this in front of him. You don't know anything. Though he took care of me but that doesn't mean he loves me.. I know he loves someone else." Madhu said remembering Dipali.
"No Madhu.. May be, he had someone in his life before you but that doesn't mean he still loves her. Madhu, may be Rishab isn't aware about his feelings but if he ever realize, I know he won't express it to you. Do you know why?" Madhu looked up at her blank. "Because he knows you can't love him. Your heart still belongs to Krishna. But Madhu, now you are his wife, he deserve the love, the happiness. Rishab tumhe duniya ki sarey khushiya de raha hai, tumhare liye khud ki duniya, ma baap chodhh diya, badle mein he doesn't deserve this right?"
"I understand ma but I can't betray Krishna and I only loves him. Rishab know this, he understand me." Madhu said as tears escaped from her eyes.
"You are wrong Madhu.. Why are you bounding yourself in a limit? Come out from your past beta, your future is waiting." Padmini tried to convince her.
"Ma please.. I can't do this.. I love Krishna and I will always love him, I can't replace him with anyone.. Not even with Rishab." Saying this she ran inside her room while RK overheard them who was standing at the door.
"Why are you doing this ma? Your words are hurting her. But RK, you have to maintain your distance from her." He took a deep breath and maintain a smile on his face and walked in.
RK directly went to the room and saw Madhu sobbing but hearing his footsteps, she composed herself. But this time, RK didn't ask her the reason and walked in the washroom which slightly shocked Madhu but she also ignored.
At the breakfast table, Madhu was serving to everyone but RK kept looking at her, he noticed he pale face, so to cheer her up, he throw the topic, "Why not we go out today? Madhu and you both never visited the city before, so let's go out today. What say Madhu?" He asked looking at her.
"As you wish." She replied with a fade smile when RK looked at Padmini who just gave him assuring smile.
The rest of the day, they visited Mumbai city along with Ranveer and Aditi and at the end of the day, RK relaxed seeing Madhu happy.
Next day, Madhu walked in the room and saw RK was getting ready for office, she walked to him and helped him to get ready, RK smiled seeing him. "You okay Madhu?"
"Hmm..!"
"Are you taking your medicines on time?" He asked.
"Yes, Rishab."
"Good." He said and suddenly remembered something, "Wait.." Saying this he walked to the wardrobe and took out a wrapped box and forward it to Madhu.
"What's in it?"
"Open it and see.." He said when Madhu opened it and gets excited saying, "Phone? For me?"
"Yes.. These days, I am going office and couldn't get in touch with you, so thought to buy this for you. Now whenever you will need, you can call me for help." He said caressing her cheek.
"Thank you." She smiled.
RK smiled back and was going to leave when Madhu called him, "Rishab..?" RK turned at her and noticed her playing with her knuckles.
"What happened Madhu?" He asked holding her by shoulder.
"Rishab.. Actually after three days.. I have to go for check-up."
"Okay.." RK said and asked her to go on.
"But I don't know anything here so can you..." She hesitated.
"Of course Madhu. It's your first check-up, I will be there with you." He said and placed a soft kisses on her forehead and then was going to leave but stopped and turned at her saying, "Don't feel hesitate to say anything Madhu.. You are my wife, you have right to order me." Saying this RK walked out from the room when Madhu smiled.
The rest of the day, Madhu was busy in house work when in lunch time, her phone rings. "Hello?" She received smiling as she knew who can it be..!
"Hi Madhu.. How are you?"
"I am fine Rishab. Don't think much about me. Ma, papa are here." She said.
"Hmm..! I know." RK said ruffling his own hair. "Okay then bye." Saying this he was going to cut the call when he heard her calling his name. "Yes Madhu?"
"Had your lunch?"
RK smiled seeing her concern for him. "Yes I had.. You?"
"Hmm.." She hummed and they remained silent when RK asked, "Do you want to say something?"
"Nothing.. Just come soon." Saying this Madhu cut the call, RK mumbled, "Crazy biwi.."
At night, Madhu was waiting for RK to arrive, it was around 9pm an he didn't show up yet, usually he returned by 7pm but as he is getting late, Madhu felt uneasy. She looked outside, it was raining heavily which create another havoc in her mind, she tried his number but it was switched off, she was waiting for him worried which Padmini noticed, "Madhu don't worry, he might be busy."
"I understand ma, but he should inform it to me. See..! It's raining badly, doesn't he his wi.." But she paused and corrected herself saying, "His baby is waiting for him." She said angrily while placing her hand over her belly and looked at the door when she heard footsteps, she got up from her sit and walked towards the door when she saw him walked in completely drenched. "Rishab?" She ran to him worried but RK held her firmly saying, "Calm down biwi.."
"What calm down Rishab? Have you seen the time? You never get late before, then what happened today haan!" She was scolding him while he kept silent. "Do you know how much I was worried. You could have make a call at least." She saw him standing silent, "Now will you say something?"
"You aren't allowing me biwi, you kept scolding me." He chuckled.
"Shut up Rishab." She yelled at him.
"Madhu let him come in.. See! He is completely wet. Rishab come.. I am making tea for you." Padmini said calmly and left.
"See..! Ma is so concern for me. Learn something.." Saying this he sneezed, Madhu glared at him and let him walk in.
RK walked in his room when Madhu handed him the towel, he went to change. After some time, he walked out but still his hair was wet and instead of drying the hair, he kept sneezing. Madhu walked to him and made him sit on the chair and drying his hair, he was massaging his hair so roughly yet angrily when RK said, "Biwi slow.."
Madhu gave him a glare when RK saw a glint of tear in her eyes, he stopped her and took the towel from her hand and held her hand in him saying, "I am sorry. I know I should have inform you but I went to the construction site and there wasn't any network and then on my way it was raining heavily, I was wet, so it slipped from my to inform you."
"Why are you giving me explanation?"
RK sighed, "I am explaining to my baby." Saying this he was going to touch her belly but she stopped him saying, "Your baby is angry with you, so he has no mood to talk with you." Saying this she threw the towel on him saying, "Dry yourself." And she walked out from the room.
After finishing dinner, RK walked in the room and saw Madhu was sleeping with her closed eyes, he slowly walked to her and bend on his knees near to her stomach. "Hi baby.." Hearing his whisper, Madhu opened her eyes and smiled but immediately closed her eyes before RK saw her.
"Baby, I know you are mad at papa.. Even your mumma is mad at me. But you are my intelligent baby, you know na papa can't hurt you both intentionally. Papa is sorry beta.. I promise I won't repeat it ever." Hearing him, Madhu smiled but pretend to be in sleep.
"Now you have to make your mumma understand it. Tomorrow I am going Delhi but before that..." But as Madhu heard him, she immediately opened her eyes asking, "What do you said?"
RK looked up at her confuse, "What? I was talking with my baby."
"No.. You are going Delhi?"
"Are you eavesdropping?" He asked with narrow eyes when Madhu looked on. "Bad habit biwi."
"Shut up.. How come you suddenly made this Delhi trip?" She asked.
"The company has started a new project and to discuss about the project, I have to go Delhi." As he said, Madhu's face dropped.
"For how many days?"
"May be two days."
Madhu smiled thinking just two days which will pass easily. Seeing her lost, RK snapped his finger near to her eyes asking, "What happened?"
"Nothing.." She replied and lay down but again gets up saying, "Don't talk aloud. Good night." Saying this she slept, RK looked at her wondering, "Some times, I really don't understand her." and he went to his place to sleep.
Next morning, RK woke up hearing the alarm and looked at his side and saw Madhu was still sleeping, he checked the clock which showed 9am. "She is sleeping till now..!" He thought and went to freshen up.
RK walked out from the room when Padmini asked, "Where's Madhu?"
"She's still sleeping."
"Really..!" Padmini said in disbelief. "Okay, you have your tea. I am checking her." Saying this she went to their room.
After having his tea, RK walked in the room and saw Madhu was awake, "You alright?" He asked worried.
"Don't worry Rishab.. It happens during this phase. She will be fine soon." Padmini said, "By the way, Madhu said you are leaving for Delhi today?"
"Yes ma.."
"Okay then, you pack your luggage.. I am in kitchen." Saying this she walked out, leaving them alone.
RK walked to Madhu and took sit beside her, "Are you sure, you are fine? Or should I cancel the trip?"
"No, please.. Don't do this.. I am fine Rishab, ma papa are here for me. You go and do your work." She said assuring him but thinking about something her face dropped.
"What happened?" RK asked noticing her.
"You supposed to take me for my check up..!" She said looking down.
"Yes, I remember.. I told Ranveer and Aditi, they will take you."
"You won't be there.."
"I am sorry biwi.. This time I can't be with you.. But from next time, I promise I will be with you. And if you feel uncomfortable with them, take ma along with you okay?" RK said caressing her cheek, Madhu nodded. "Now you take rest.. I have some works to finish." Saying this, RK left the room while Madhu looked on sadly.
