Why did you come? Dont you see they made fun of you? I wanted to protect you from all this. These people they are not like you Gauri. They judge others by their status, cloths and language. "Omkara said his voice softening seeing her tears.
Gauri nodded and looked away. She knew he was right but still she felt so humiliated, like she brought him shame.
Suddenly she heard a woman say: "Om is it true? I heard she is your wife? This Behenji like Girl? "disgust evident in her voice. Gauri turned to run, not able to keep listening to any more insults thrown her way but was held back by Omkara, who shook his head. He pulled her close and whipped away her tears. He hated seeing her hurt.
Don't you dare say that again about her. She is one of the most innocent and pure people I have ever seen. She isn't blinded by money, fame or status. She loves me for who I am , for my personality not because I am an Oberoi. Gauri Omkara Singh Oberoi cares about the person and that's what makes my WIFE so unique. She is different and that's what made me fall in love with her. You wouldn't understand that in a thousand Years.
Omkara tried to keep his cool but hearing these things about the woman he loved just triggered his anger beyond imagination. He didn't like the idea of her being made fun of, the idea of people judging her. So what she doesn't know how to speak English? She was one of the very few people who understood life, one of the very few people that thought by heart not by mind. Omkara knew that he should be thankful for everyday he got to spend with her. She was the one thing he was not and he aspired to give her his everything.
Gauri couldn't believe her ears. Had he just called her his wife? Did he just tell all those people that her being unique made him fall in love with her? She looked into his eyes and saw that he meant every word he had uttered. She couldn't help but smile. Finally had he acknowledged her as his wife. Finally, he had accepted their marriage.
Lekin Om- "the Woman started again but was stopped by his raised hand.
Stop right there. I don't want to hear it. She is my wife, my unique wife. The woman that showed me that I didn't need to be hurt or angry to create art- she showed me that just by living and loving I could be just as good as an artist than I was before. I always believed my anger was the fuel to my art but now I realize all I needed was Love. Unconditional Love.
The reporters smiled at his words and kept making many pictures. Gauri tried to hide her face; certainly her make-up was hideous after she started to cry. She wanted to look perfect for him, to make him feel proud having her standing beside him. Om gently lifted her face and made sure she looked just as perfect as always. He loved her no matter how smudged her mascara or eyeliner was.
It took me a while and I am sorry for that!" He whispered against her forehead when he leaned down to kiss her there. She closed her eyes, realizing he had kissed her Maang where she had put on sindoor. Slowly without noticing all the bystanders she raised her hands and caressed his face. She saw all the love she needed to believe that they were equal. That he was as much hers as she was his. He loved her, he had accepted her as his wife in front of all this people. Gauri tried hard to fight her tears because she didn't want him to worry. He was her one and only. She couldn't even describe the feeling of pride when he had said those things about her.
If they would have been alone she knew exactly what he would do to her and she couldn't wait till they got into their privacy of their Bedroom. As if reading her thoughts, he smiled.
They had wasted enough Time, Omkara thought. He wanted to make her his finally.
As in reading his thoughts she blushed and caressed his hair.
It was worth the wait Om...I would have waited an eternity for you. You are my husband and I love you. I always have. Gauri smiled her biggest smile when she saw that Omkara had tears in his eyes after her words. He had been afraid that she had moved on, that she would just be a Bahu, not his wife. He leaned down to take her lips into a sweet kiss but was interrupted by a Reporter and his question: "How long have you two been married? "
Gauri blushed remembering where they were and who was watching but still she felt sad that he hadn't kissed her. She yearned for his touch, wanted to be his.
Omkara turned and explained that they had met in Bareilly and that they would get married again sometime soon. He promised that he would give her the wedding she deserved.
"Really? Gauri looked at him with so much joy, he embraced her and slowly they walked out of the exhibition to go home. No further questions were allowed.
The minute they opened the Doors to the Oberoi Mansion they were greeted by their partying family. Shivaay hugged his little brother and caressed Gauri's Hair. The brotherly love evident in his eyes. She was his sister, not by blood but by heart. He would do everything to make sure she was happy. He knew that Omkara had taken a lot of time in accepting her, loving her but better late than never, Shivaay thought smiling.
"I am so proud of you Om, finally you realized that without Love Life is meaningless, without your Ishqbaazi. Shivaay smiled at both of them. Gauri bend down to take his blessings but he stopped her.
"Thank you Bade Bhaiya...Thank you for being there for me and for supporting me. You are the best brother a girl could ask for. She smiled under tears and Shivaay hugged her tightly.
Omkara felt proud. He loved it that his family had accepted and loved Gauri all this time. He knew they adored her and her nature. She was so full of life, the much needed life partner for his cynical and bitter self. Omkara knew he didn't deserve her so he promised himself that from this day forward he would do everything in his power to keep her as happy as possible. She deserved after all the misery he made her go through.
"Bhabi looks like Shivaay will always be on his sister's side... Omkara said turning to Anika who laughed and hugged him. Just as much as Shivaay loved Gauri, Omkara loved Anika as much as his little Sister. He had always been her biggest supporter.
"Om I am so happy for you... After everything you decided to give love another chance. I feel proud to be part of your family, your life. Always be happy okay? She looked into her Brother in Laws eyes and he smiled. Anika and Om shared a very special and deep bond, because in all her time in this family it was always him who had supported her, had fought with Shivaay for her.
"What is all that? We are here to celebrate! Rudra came running and took both Anika and Gauri by their Hands. Gauri laughed and joined him happily.
"Rudy what exactly are we celebrating? Omkara asked and sat down next to his mother.
She kissed his cheek and smiled at her oldest son. Today he had proved that Love overpowers sadness, heartbreak and every bitter Past. She thanked God for giving her back her son, his Shayari loving Self. The boy who would go to any extent for his loved ones, the one who thought with his heart not with his mind. All thanks to Gauri, her Bahu.
"Your Wedding Silly. Rudra said while whirling Gauri and Anika around himself.
"Kya? But I am already married Rudy." Omkara said irritated. Gauri stopped Rudra from turning her one more time and smiled blushing. She liked hearing him say that he was her Husband, that he acknowledged their marriage.
"Nahi Beta, we weren't there so from now on you and Gauri will sleep in different rooms till your Wedding in a Month. "Jhanvi said and immediately asked Anika to help her. Soon they were chatting about the function they wanted to have and thought they should start with the Ring Ceremony and the Day after the Mehndi Ceremony. Om jumped at his Mother's Words and took Gauri's Hand in his.
"A MONTH? Lekin Kyun? We are married... I mean we can still sleep in the same room. He said and pulled Gauri even closer. Listening to his words the entire Family started teasing him about how he couldn't seem to live without his wife while Gauri blushed even harder.
She knew why he wanted her to sleep in the same room, knew what he wanted from her.
After all this time she wanted it too but she was shy.
"I don't care Omkara,Jhanvi said, "You will do as I say. We weren't there when you first got married but now everything will happen the right Way. Anika Beta you will stay with Gauri I don't trust my Son. With a final smile Jhanvi left and started preparing for the first function to be held. Shivaay looked at Om and gave him a slap on his head.
"Why? he simply asked and rubbed the back of his head. He had a feeling why but still.
"Because of you I have to sleep without my Wife as well. Shivaay muttered angrily.
Anika blushed and caressed her Husband's face.
"Just a few days, I promise. I will take care of Jhanvi Aunty. She said and took Gauri's hand.
Gauri smiled and kissed Om shyly on his cheek before leaving with her sister in law.
Omkara smiled, his fingers lingering on the place she had kissed so tenderly.
He was happy, truly and unbreakably happy.
After all this Time Omkara Singh Oberoi couldn't wait for the next Days bringing him closer to his Wife, his unique Wife.
