Chapter 7 Confession

The bell rang and Avni opened the door .From the time they got married, Neil has never brought home any girl with him to home. And this was first time, which took Avni by surprise. As they both sat down Avni went back to kitchen to prepare tea.

Avni thought " Neil just introduced Juhi as his friend, they are just sharing their college memories, then why she is getting so close to Neil, why she is holding his hand, why is she touching his hair "

Neil watched Avni from far, as Juhi shared with him how they spent their past days. His eyes were set on her and not Juhi thinking" I know Avni, I am unknowingly hurting you since I never told you about Juhi. But believe me I never thought that my past would meddle with my future "

As Avni placed the tea on table, she saw Juhi holding his hands, sometimes resting her head on his shoulders. Since it was a studio flat everything was visible right before her eyes. She was getting jealous, as she went to cut the fruits. In haste she broke a plate. Neil came to her help, collecting all the broken pieces, while she put fruits in another plate. He asked Avni to go downstairs for a walk and before she left he kissed on her forehead and said " take care "

As Avni went downstairs, she touched her forehead again and again thinking what was it she had just experienced, till date no man had kissed her like that and he did it. Why was Neil doing it ?does he wants to say something ?.But her logical brain was back in action " Juhi, who is this girl, who wants to get so close to my husband. She doesn't seem like a normal friend. And there is only one person who could clear my doubts Shweta aunty!! "

Avni dialed Shweta's no to know who was Juhi, where she exaggerated to say " what to tell you beta, Juhi and tillu were madly, deeply in love with each other. For 2 years. They had planned to get married also. They were so close, that even I wanted to make Juhi my DIL, but you see what happened she met accident, then coma, my son breaking down. So to move ahead he joined police job. Then you landed in his life, separating me from my son.How I wish if she was my DIL we would be one happy family "

Bebe heard their conversation and angrily said to Shweta" you will lose your son one day forever.do remember my words, what kind of mother are you who can't see her own son happiness "

As soon as Avni left Neil's condo, Neil got a call where he had to leave home signaling Juhi to excuse him.

As Avni kept the phone, she understood Juhi was a special friend of Neil. They both loved each other and probably still do. Else why has Neil never said anything to his wife since the day they got married. Avni went upstairs to check what were they up-to, but the home was locked when she said to herself " privacy, hunh. He needs a lot of privacy these days .let him come back I will ask him "

Neil came back late at night. He saw Avni sleeping on sofa. He picked her up in his arms and placed her on the bed. As Neil came back after changing, he directly went back to sleep without any pampering his wife. Avni noticed all this silently, as a tear drop escaped from her eyes.

Neil left early as he was busy in some case, Avni felt he was avoiding him. Going by Neela Maa advice that a man heart route is via his stomach. She prepared lunch for him and took it to police station to spend some quality time . But to her dismay Neil was not there. She enquired DD where he said " Bhabhi, Neil sir had gone on lunch with Juhi. Since she is his old friend and her office is nearby this place so they often go on lunch. However I will inform sir that you had came "

Avni was slowly breaking into pieces, thinking "what was Neil hiding. If he loves her then I will not come between them.Offcourse this marriage was farce and he is not obligated to be in it. He never said he loves me,why would I be a burden on him. And baby, no baby I will not let my child suffer any illegitimate child drama in his life"

Avni soon left for a gynecologist to know if there was any possibility to drop this baby. The doctor advised her to take this decision mutually after talking to her husband as abortion with pills was not possible at this stage of pregnancy.

Neil was with Juhi spending time at their favorite food joint which they used to visit during college days. It was raining heavily outside when they both went for the tapri chai. They both were getting drenched in rains, but Neil didn't mind it as he loved rains. While talking Neil could sense that she was getting closer to him intentionaly. His old Juhi was not like that. As he pulled her back asking to behave herself when Juhi asked" why Neil why, you want me to go away. You were the one who loved me so much in the past, then what now. Shweta aunty told me about your fake marriage and you are not happy in it. I am just trying to win you back "

Neil was angry but not on her but his mother. He himself could not believe that she could stoop so low. He started his car and went straight away to Khanna house. He straight away went to his room took out all letters, photo, gifts that belonged to Juhi and burned them. Shweta was not at home that time. But bebe saw all this and asked Neil to come to her room.

Standing in front of Radha Krishna Statue, she asked " do you know, why we take their names always together, because their love was pure without any condition. But Krishna never married Radha but Rukmani. Do you know why". Neil was thinking Why was Bebe talking all this now. She continued " I have studied history and know that Krishna always belonged to his wife. However, when Mughals came they destroyed that part of history so we chant Radha-Krishna name always together. But the correct one is Krishna -Rukmani name together. Before taking any decision do remember that truth may be half hidden but can never be ignored "

Neil went back to his flat to talk to Avni. The flat was locked.If not here she would be at chamko cafe. Avni had gone to Ali but left that place to go far away from their lives, as there was not much left to talk after knowing Ali's hand in birth certificate incident.

Neil walked into cafe, not finding Ali.He sat there to wait for him, thinking what does he really want in life Juhi or Avni. Just then he heard two boys talking

Boy 1 : if it's your girlfriend and wife. Who would you choose

Boy 2: obviously my wife, she was there in thick and thin of life. I made a girlfriend because you all have it, so I also had one. She may have taught me how to fall in love, but what is commitment my wife taught me.

Though Neil didn't agree completely with them, but he got his answer what Bebe wished to say. Neil phone rang he picked it up to hear " Neil I am your doctor. Your wife Avni wants to abort the child. She looked tensed when she visited my clinic today. Please talk to her before taking any decision "

Neil was badly hurt, how could she alone take that decision or even think about it. The baby belong to both of them. Unaware, Ali came from back when Neil said he had to leave for an urgent case. As he was about to go Ali said " I know what is your urgent case, stop her before its too late. She loves you very much but she will never say it. I know Avni from childhood she is like that. "

Neil turned back and hugged Ali to say " Thanks Ali, I needed to hear that advice "

Neil dialed Avni no, she was not picking her phone. He asked DD to trace her phone, it was somewhere in Borivali. Neil speeded up his car tracking her location he went ahead of her cab to stop her. The driver dislodged her luggage and left the place

It was a lonely road, raining a night filled with darkness, with light from his car. Neil holder her hand tightly " how dare you thought of leaving me and aborting our child. You can not take such decisions alone Avni". Avni was crying but still she replied " because I don't want to be a burden on you. Shweta aunty told me how much you love Juhi"

Neil was getting angry, he hated those words ehsaan, burden, specially from someone he loved so much. He holds her arms to say " I told you nothing could come between us. Not even air".As he touched his lower lip with her upper lip. Avni couldn't believe what she was just experienced her first lip kiss.

Neil asked her to sit back in the car. He could see his wife had turned pink, she was touching her lips again just to feel the moment she experienced few mins ago. Neil asked her " Are you blushing Avni" . She denied to look into his eyes, but he understood she got his answer. Her reactions told how much she was loving the touch and feel of her husband and the mirror was a part of their confession.
