What a beautiful episode!
How beautifully the writers juxtaposed the twins coming home.
Vatsalya came in a box of memories...delivered to his bereaving father, who needed to be assured that he was not just a memory to fade away. Such a touching poem!
As the proud father sat there, honouring his beloved son's memory, came the seemingly rude interlude from down below. It was that unbelievably boorish girl announcing her entry into the mansion. What a glaring variance to the child he had just lost!
Tujhme itna gussa kyun hai?
Tujhme itni sannaata kyun hai?
Let me welcome you home with exuberant shouts of joy!
So, you were the one to fill my emptiness...
What a lovely aura, when two divergent personalities come home together!
Not so pretty, when Baldev decides to take on Anami in a verbal battle, only to tell himself he deserves to die in chullu bhar paani'! What an opportunity for Anami , to snap at the heartless aristocracy that has imprisoned her in a golden cage!
Dadi plays the invisible referee here, so father and daughter get acquainted with each other.
Yet another beautiful segment, where Anami misses her pagli panditayin...she would ask about her- whether she ate, when she got back...the world didn't understand her the way pagli panditayin did. Would her mother scold them all for being so mean to her?!
Satrupa watches on, knowing she will only ruin the moment, if she dared to interrupt.
The opening segment: Murari Pathak explaining to his wife why he didn't trust anyone, explaining the significance of the name, Lal Mahal. He just wants his daughter to be safe there, for he knows even she won't be spared if a sacrifice needed to be made. He imparts the same wisdom to Anami- let not her one hand know what the other does. That is how explicit his advice to his daughter is...
And he is right.
No one would be spared in Lal Mahal. Anami herself wasn't. She had already been sacrificed once.
PS: Just wanted to share two thoughts regarding the child Satrupa gave up. I find it interesting that Anami never asked the question Adhiraj did. Why did she choose to send away the girl child? Had she sent the boy away, wouldn't the question be the same? Why did you send the boy away?
Secondly, I feel Satrupa never looked back at the child she sent away, because Guruji had told her to give the child away...she couldn't hold on to it. Looking back, would mean creating uncertainty in the child's life. So she didn't even dare think about it, until Guruji advised her it was time to bring that child home. It wouldn't be the heartless abandonment Anami feels...it could be the courageous absence too.
