Chapter-7
Mukhi stretched languorously like a lazy cat, slowly coming out of his sleep. As he tried to focus his sight, he realised someone was looming over him. He blinked to clear his gaze, realising it was Aru sitting beside him staring at him.
"Arey Aru, tu uth gayi? Time kya hua?" He asked rubbing his eyes.
"Just after 8" She replied shyly.
"Ath baaj gayi?" He tried to sit up hurriedly and noticed her properly for the first time. Her hair was wet, she probably just had her shower, and her skin was glowing, flushed red especially her exposed neck and jaw area. Her eyes were bright and she was looking at him with some kind of reverence mixed with shyness. Everything that happened last night came back to him in full force and he gently cradled her rosy cheek with one hand. Her skin was unnaturally warm.
"Aru tu theek che na?"
If it was possible, she blushed even redder. She looked down and nodded bashfully.
"But your skin is so hot...are you really okay?? What have I done to you??" he ran his fingers through her throat like Braille... "--looks like you got an allergic reaction...I really need to shave my beard off--" he said guiltily, stroking his own bristled jaw with his other hand.
"No--don't...I rather like--" Aru spoke too quickly and then again looked down in chagrin at what her statement revealed.. "I-- I like it." She finished somehow, his roaming fingers wreaking havoc on her system.
"Did you see yourself in the mirror?? And this is only outside...I wonder what's the condition inside?" his finger slowly dipped inside the demure neckline of her kameez, hooking it, trying to pry it off. Aru squealed and pushed him away. Mukhi laughed seeing his wife's mortification. There was not a place left in her body he hadn't worshipped last night. And she was still so inhibited... it was adorable.
In a flash, he took her in his arms and shifted so that she was flat on bed, head in the pillow, her body pinned by his. Aru marvelled at her husband's strength, never wanting to leave this cocoon of his embrace.
"T-Tea...I brought your tea...it is getting cold" Aru said trying to focus on what she originally came to do. She wanted to wake him up but seeing him sleeping in his naked, gorgeous glory she had forgotten everything and ended up admiring him instead.
She had woken up early this morning despite last night... stark naked in her husband's arms feeling blissful, though a bit bruised and tender but it felt good...and the moment she looked at his sleeping profile she had wanted him again, wanted to be possessed by him again and again...she didn't want to leave this bed ever...she wanted to spend rest of her life here in this bed with her Mukhiji...wouldn't that be glorious??? As the scandalous thoughts crashed into her mind she had jumped out of bed and ran to the shower to cool herself down... She had become a wanton, a hussy she berated herself standing under the cold spray of shower...one night in his arms and now she didn't want anything else, she couldn't think of anything else. She didn't know this side of hers...never believed she was capable of such sensuality...never imagined her Mukhiji could be such a master at lovemaking...he had done things to her she never thought possible...she had tried to stop him, tried to squirm away but he didn't allow it and she ended up loving every bit of attention he bestowed on her body and she wanted all of it again. Uff ! She needed to get a grip of herself...but her husband was a God!! There was no doubt in her mind anymore about it.
"Sach bata Aru, are you really okay? Are you still hurting? tell me" Mukhi asked seriously looking deep into her eyes cutting through her train of thoughts.
"No-" she began to say, but he arched his brows at her and she confessed, "maybe...just a bit...", Aru blushed more.
"Hmmm...take a panadol?" he nodded grimly.
"No need, it is nothing serious..I--" she couldn't talk anymore because his head had swooped and was now lavishing his drugging kisses all over her face, jaw, throat... Finally he settled on the little mole at the crook of her neck and she began to melt.
"What should I do now Aru? To see you is to touch you and I can't stop myself" Mukhi groaned rubbing his nose in her throat in helpless surrender "and look what this do to you...your skin--"
"Don't worry...redness will go away soon...I hate my sensitive skin..." Aru said remorsefully already drowning in his attentions.
"It is like I branded you" he couldn't hide the smugness that could be heard in his voice.
"I like being yo---" Aru moaned stopping at mid sentence because he decided to bit her earlobe at that moment, his hands shaping up her breasts under her kameez...making her mind incoherent...
"Aru we need to talk.." Mukhi lifted his head with a groan. He really needed to talk to Aru before they started having their way with each other again.
"We are talking..." Aru tugged the hair at his nape trying to bring his mouth back to where it was a moment before, her breasts.
"Hmm...but seriously we need to have a talk."
"About what?" Aru was feeling pissed. Mukhiji and his moments...can't this talk wait?? they were in the middle of something.
"About children"
"Oh" Aru blushed again...she couldn't wait to have his children and she sincerely hoped she was already carrying one after last night. She didn't want to get jealous anymore seeing Mukhiji caring for children which were not hers. "If it's a boy, he will be Rudra Raj Katara and if it's a girl she will be Devaki Raj Katara...you know like Lord Krishna's mother??" she smiled.
"What?" Mukhi asked bewildered.
"You don't like the names?"
"The names are lovely...when did you think of them?"
"I have been thinking for a while...I hope I am already with one" Aru said wistfully patting her hand over her tummy.
"God forbid...I hope not" Mukhi said harshly and moved away from her...the moment he moved away Aru began to miss his warmth and scent...what he just said filled her with apprehension.
"What do you mean you hope not?" Aru asked flabbergasted at his aversion to their child.
Mukhi had moved away to the edge of the bed, his feet on the floor. "You yourself are a child...how can you think of having a child?"
"What did you just say?" Aru sat up in an instant "I am a chi---You think I am a chi---" She couldn't finish her sentence such was her anger..."You are again bringing our age between us even after last night??" Aru exclaimed.
"No I am not thinking about our age...I just think we should wait a bit before thinking about starting a family."
"You are already ancient...you don't have time to wait...don't you want to see your grand children?" Aru threw at him trying to hurt him.
Instead of getting offended as she hoped, Mukhi smiled kindly, "Because I am ancient I have all the time in this world and yes hopefully I will see my grandchildren marry one day...whereas, you...you don't have time...you have so much to do before you get tied up for good...you have to focus on your dreams now...boost your career...you have lots to do"
"Me???---You are making this about me??" Aru asked shrilly.
"No I am not making this about anybody...I just think we should wait few years before having a baby and that is why we will be going to the clinic this afternoon." Mukhi said assertively and stood up as if that was the end of discussion. A pillow hit his back. And then few more...
"YOU...TYRANNICAL BULLY--DICTATOR---who do you think you are? You pass a royal command and you expect me to bow and accept it like a peasant?? I want a baby and I want it now." Aru shrieked looking for other things to throw at him...she didn't care if she was behaving like the child he just said she was. It hurt that Mukhiji didn't want her children, when she saw herself how much he doted on every children of the village.
Mukhi stopped and turned towards her, "Have you ever thought that for 43 years I have been alone and now that I finally got you I might not want to share you...I might want you to myself for a while?? Can't I be this much selfish for once in my life?"
Aru dropped her hand carrying the empty water jug she was about to throw at him.
"You...mean...you want me...all to yourself?" Aru asked hesitantly ...her anger forgotten seeing merit in the idea...she wanted to enjoy with her husband too...being pregnant might hinder that..."--but for how long?" she asked tentatively.
"At least 2 years. I can't share you with anyone before that... not even a child. I am a selfish prick" Mukhi said trying to keep a straight face...his wife was sooo adorable and gullible. He hoped nothing ever take this innocence from her.
"Well..." Aru said twisting her hands in her lap"...Well--mmm--"
"Well nothing. Be ready in the afternoon I will come to get you. And Aru? Please be a dear and bring me another cup of tea...this has become water."
-----------
"Aise ghur maat mujhe" Mukhi said in undertone gritting his teeth, for only Aru to hear who was sitting beside him in the breakfast table staring at him like a lovesick puppy. Aru sloshed tea all over her cheek because she didn't notice where she was lifting the cup, so busy was she, staring at him lost in her day dreams. Mukhi groaned. Everyone woke up later than usual because of the party last night and so everyone was at the dining room.
Since they came in for the breakfast, Aru had been behaving appallingly and if she continued this way everyone would guess what they had been up to last night. She had jumped a mile when his hand brushed hers accidently, as if she got electric shock ...she had been clumsier than ever...she was not listening to anyone lost in her own world, Sanvi had to ask her thrice, whether she had a good night's sleep? And when she finally heard, Aru blushed scarlet... till now Sanvi and Uma looked confused at her behaviour but if Aru continued this way soon they would understand and that would be the end of him...they would eat him alive. And now Aru had been gazing at him longingly, smiling to herself.
"Aru kya hua tujhe?? Aaj dhyaan kaha hai teri?" Rami ben asked irately when she sloshed tea all over herself. Aru had always been the oddball but she had been behaving the most odd today.
"Uhm--" Aru tried to tidy herself up, and knocking over her plate.
"Kya hua tujhe aaj?? Teri gaal itni lal kyon hai?? Are you feeling okay?" Sanvi asked worriedly.
"Woh kal raat--" Aru started to say distractedly and Mukhi felt the whole earth open up and starting to consume him...did the girl even know what she was saying.
"Insect bite" Mukhi said quickly cutting Aru's sentence. "Some insect bit her last night... She couldn't sleep whole night..." seeing his friend and family's instant concern, he assured, "but I gave her medicine already, it is making her drowsy...that is why she is behaving like this...effect of medicine." He tried to bring the situation under control and Aru tried to help him nodding.
"Oho Aru...did you see what insect?? Are you still hurting??" Uma asked worriedly.
"No, Mukhiji took care of me. I have never been better. " She blushed again.
"But you should take rest, sleep off the pill." Sanvi suggested.
"yea...she should--" Mukhi got up, "--I should get going to panchayet daftar." But he didn't dare leave this daffor here...god knew what she might end up saying..."Aru come with me...let me...mmm..let me tuck you in bed...no need to go to the factory today. Come."
Aru didn't need to be said twice. She jumped to her feet and pranced behind her husband like a besotted lamb.
"kal raat jaroor kuch hua hai in dono k beech" Rami said to Dharmi, her shrewd eyes taking in everything.
Even though Dharmi had the same feeling, she didn't want to admit, "No I don't think so...Mukhiji went to his room super late, hours after Aru, I kept track of it...she had to be sleeping by then."
"What does that prove? Didn't you see how oddly Aru has been behaving this morning?? And her skin..." Rami persisted...her husband didn't have any beard but Lalji sometimes sported one...and at that times after Lalji finished with her...she had almost similar red skin.
"Aru always behaves peculiarly...what is new in that? it must be the medicine just as Mukhiji said"
"There was no rash...only redness. Insect bites don't happen this way" Rami imparted her wisdom impatiently trying to show the daffor some reason.
"You don't know about all kinds of insect bites. Stop yapping" Dharmi said stubbornly. Ever since Aru had foolishly confided in her when she first came here to live, that she and Mukhiji didn't have a physical relationship between them, Dharmi had started to dream. She couldn't have that dream shattered now. No, Aru and Mukhiji couldn't have slept together last night, or any night. They just can't. She won't let them. She hoped that new besotted ashiq of her stupid sister got to work soon.
---------
Mukhi was surprised when Aru's client Vijay Singh Rathode came to visit him in his office. "Mr. Rathode, hope you are liking your stay here" Mukhi said, though he thought Mr. Rathode would have left by now. Why was he still here he wondered.
"I am, all thanks to you." Vijay said amicably though he was itching to knock all the teeth off this bas***d.
"So tell me, what can I do for you?" Mukhi went straight to point. He want to go back home as soon as possible.
"I have a business proposition for you"
"Achcha? What is it?"
"20 acre land by the side of the river in the south, I would like to buy it from you."
"Why?"
"My main purpose for coming to India was to look for a land where my dad wants to build a factory. Coming to this village, I have loved it, loved the plot over there by the river...it is just perfect for what we have in our mind...Don't worry we will buy it from you at market price, if you want more that could be arranged too..." Vijay smirked in his mind...who could say no to such amount of money?... first he want to tie himself to this village, then he would have more time to woo Aru...once he acquired her...he wanted to punish this monster. He would slowly slowly destroy what he took pride in...the monster liked to play god in this village...his time was up...Vijay would make him the villain...everyone would hate him...Vijay would make him pay for how he had been treating Aru.
"What kind of factory?" Mukhi asked calmly.
"Pesticide...this is the growing industry and in high demand."
Mukhi nodded as if considering it. Vijay started to rub his hands in glee in his mind...then he heard something akin to No'
"Sorry what did you say?" Vijay asked him.
"I said NO" Mukhi said firmly. "Mr. Rathode, thank you for your interest in my village, but no I have no intention to sell my land." Mukhi was burning in rage, seeing his audacity to even suggest building a pesticide factory in his Amboli...he shuddered thinking the pollution it would bring...the village he had built with his own hands would be in ruins, its water poisoned, its lands leached and barren. But Mukhi controlled himself; after all he was Aru's client. He couldn't throw him outside his office like the way he was itching to do. "I am rather busy...I have a meeting just about now" Mukhi said civilly.
"Mukhiji you are not thinking of the wonders the factory will bring to this village, the jobs it will create, the money, the business it will bring. Amboli will become a town in matter of years. If you want more money for your land...we can negotiate and--"
"No...Mr. Rathode...I don't want to sell my land...That's it. Jai Shri Krishna." Mukhi dismissed him pointedly.
Vijay came out burning in impotent anger...that illiterate bas***d...what did he think of himself?? But he had to admit, he might be only 5th pass but not as dumb Vijay thought he would be... money didn't interest him. Vijay huffed, damn if he admitted defeat so soon. He took out his phone and dialled Aru.
