Dil ki aawaz: a poem

Ae dil le chal hume us samay mein fir se

Jab socha karte they hum sirf dil se

Kaun sachha kaun jhootha yeh samajh na thi

Khushi jab bina baat humare chehre pe rehti thi

Jab phoolon ki khushboo ka khoobsurat ehsaas tha

Titliyon ke peeche bhaagna humare liye khaas tha

Pedon par jhoole humare dil ko bhaate the

Doston se jhagde pal bhar mein bhool jaate the

Panchhiyon ki udaan hume mile yehi thi chaahat

Maa ke aanchal tale hi milti thi raahat

Baarish mein kaagaz ki kashtiyan khoob chalayi

Ab woh khushiyan ho gayi hain humse parayi

Ab na din aur raat ka fark raha na rahe woh haalat

Chhoti chhoti baton pe bikhar jaate hain dilon ke jazbaat

Ab samay nahi dekhen kabhi un phoolon ko un titliyon ko

Darr hai ki unke khayal ko bhi aane ka samay na de paayen toh

Bhaag rahen hain hum jaane kis anjani daud mein

Kise harana hain nahi jaante kaun milega kis mod pe

Jin pedon par the jhoole aaj wo sab veeran pade

Sapnon ki udaan bahut aage le aayi aaj hum akele khade

Laut sakte agar hum us samay mein fir se

Apnon ko apne hone ka ehsaas kaash hum de paate

Zindagi ka khaleepan kuch kam kar paate

Dard-e-dil ko aansuon se kuch to dho paate

Yeh ho nahi sakta dil ko hai ehsaas

Ek adhoorapan thehar gaya hai is dil ke paas

Ae dil le chal hume us bachpan mein fir se ek baar

Is chaahat mein beetenge jaane kitne aur din raat

Is dil mein chhupe armaan kya koi hai pehchaanta

Dil to fir bhi bacha hi hai koi niyam kahan hai yeh maanta

Loved the wordings, so purely describing the heart's internal monologue !

Can see it through Ashutosh's perspective, as he almost lost the charm and the need to smile, when Baba left him. Wandering his wherabouts and the truth of the Makaan, left him hard and stone from his heart.
