Yes this is India where arranged marriage is the norm. My dislike is not coz she is willing to marry the guy of her mom's choice. My dislike stems from the fact that till yest there was not a single monologue frm her how she is torn bet her love for Dev & love for her mom. Not once tat moral dilemma that aft all those bade bade lectures she is marrying for money. She claimed that she never lies ever ever but then created that fake video. She says she ll do anything for her dad but still wanted to sabotage the rasam by throwing glasses in Advay's path. Do her actions even make any sense. I am not justifying Dev wanting 2 take revenge on an 8 yr old but at least his actions r not contradictory. Its consistent with his character arc. But Chandni sucks with her hypocrisy. I had the same issue with KKG in S1. She used 2 meddle meddle meddle in others' lives. But when ASR calls it out she used 2 cry buckets & make ASR feel guilty though he is actually right. The characterization of FLs in Indian Sabuns never make sense to me.
Chandni has always been a firebrand - she never bowed down to Dev. Even with 8 yrs age gap she gave back as good as she could. Had circumstances been normal she would have been a strong grown up woman. The kidnapping literally changed her from that to someone who is scarred - someone who is unsure of herself. I feel that is why she latches on to Indrani because she believes her mom stood by her even when the people around were hostile. She just can't go against her mom - Do you think she would say that she misses Dev to her when she sees how much Indrani wants this marriage to happen.
With Mama she might have shared a more comfortable bond and I think Mama himself doesn't have any kids so he treats her as his own. That is why she is able to tell to him about her missing Dev.
With Advay she did tell him not to touch her. But with PP she is scared to say anything. It is not about chandni having self respect it is more about she being totally broken and manipulated by her evil mom to an extent that she is ready to do anything for her.
Regarding the nail incident I look at this as Chandni giving back to Advay. She knew that Advay would do something to do the rasam with her and she wanted him to fail. She didn't expect him to go all the way and was shocked when he actually did. Does she detest Advay so much that she can hurt him at the cost of the rasam failing ? I think so. Advay never hid the fact that he hates her and blames her for something she doesn't understand.
My reading of Chandni is she is totally broken inside unlike KKG who actually felt what she says and thinks is the ultimate truth. I look at her as someone suffering from guilt of failing her parents causing them shame and burdened by expectations of evil step mom.
As the story progresses I do want Chandni to be someone who demands and makes Advay go through redemption to get her back.
