I couldn't agree more...Chandani's scenes with mama Ji...did help understand her feelings about Dev...but have not moved the needle yet about Advay...I find mamaji to be a weird sort of character...I mean ...are they trying to show he is gay or something In a round about way? 😔
Any who ...about Chandani...for me her feelings towards Advay could have been explanined better and given more of a chance on screenplay instead of jumping to ...look how good a chemistry the lead pair has right from the get go...because Bitiya is nodding her head yes...when a stranger comes to her bedroom...and demands her to let him pick her up after drugging her sisters...that episode was worst of all in not understanding Chandani's character...[here is an example of why I think IPK3 is at a disadvantage compared to a normal run of the mill show...where there is not so much internet feedback and expectations on chemistry and stuff like that...right from the first scene...I think without the pressure...writers have more breathing room to let things develop in the due course and not be bashed...)
While GH was also not perfect and had lapses in explaining happy's character at times...I think Harneet falls very short of expectations in this and a number of other fronts...The characters are dealing with complicated feelings...brushing off certain issues...or being inconsistent throws people off...The person who conceptulized Advay's scene with Nani...did the most satisfactory job of all the writing so far in my opinion...it brought it all together...along with the scree where Advay explained to Chandani...Tum Jo bhi ho Chandani...meri ho...I am not letting you go...
What does make sense for me ...from Chandani's side is...
That she is unsure of Bituwa and is resisting him...
That she is giving him the benefit of the doubt and trying to reason out with him...
That at times she is attracted to him...specially when he is being charming and not threatening...
That she is pushing the feelings of attraction aside and doing what her mom tells her...
That she is essentially not a person who rejoices after hurting the other person (I think she expected Advay to not carry out the ritual after realizing that the are nails on the pathway)
The Haldi scene was fantastic...LOVED the interaction between the leads there...and the symbolism...
Advay's scene with Nani has been one ot the best directed and enacted scenes on the show 👏
The moment writing and direction shifts to Advay and Chandni, I think the focus is more on 'How to insert Rabba-vey' 😕 I am not sure how many people enjoy forced chemistry because when it's forced, it doesnt even look convincing.
Chandni's character has undergone way too many changes. From her costumes to her confused attitude, it it super difficult to keep a track of everything. That bedroom scene was created for God knows what reason. It was illogical, badly written, and absurdly directed. Chandni could have been a layered character, but here she seems too shallow !
Haldi scene: I think Chandni wanted Advay to stop the rasam/sambar midway but she had least expected the outcome of her plan. Since she is good by heart she couldnt take it and hence got Haldi for him. She did not have a change of mind overnight or soften towards him. Even if PP was in Advay's place she would have done the same, except for PP would have jumped and hugged her, while Advay gave her an ultimatum 😆
Internet can be way too harmful to the creative minds and I am strictly against writers being over exposed to the audience. During PRATHAM too GH was super pissed off with the fans and thats when he tweeted 'dekha hain toh dekho' and gave us the Swamy track, which I could never ever watch again 😡. Writers should sit in a room, sip their coffee and sketch characters, but that doesnt happen anymore. Now writers talk to audience, react to their praises and gaalis and change the story per their requirement and TRPs. Hope Harneet understands that no show can survive just because of the chemistry of the leads or one Sobti.
