Lovely post, I'm still not seeing Shivaay and Gauri parallels. It is each ones interpretation I guess that is all 😉
They are not exact parallels like I say Om-Anni are but there are similarities that they share.

I do enjoy Shivaay and Gauri's relationship though. I loved when Ani was holding Om back and Gauri was holding back Shivaay during the PriVeer shaadi. That is because Om can never refuse Anni anything and similarly Shivvay can never refuse Gauri anything.
The haq as sister-in-laws for both brothers is held in high esteem by both. Om believes Anni is the best thing that happened to Shivvay and similarly Shivvay's conviction is that Gauri is the best thing that happened to Om. It is that which the brothers respect in the sister-in-law.

I feel Gauri is not as grey to be called a grey character. I can agree that Gauri is stronger in situations than Annika. Though your perspective on this situation is cool. I have not called Gauri grey and she has, till date, done nothing grey but she will not shy away from doing something grey if her Family is at stake, and that is where I see the similarity with Shivvay.
Shivvay is essentially not grey with his Family - he is grey only with outsiders that attack his Family.

As for Gauri, you have to remember she did stab KT at the mandap and club him on the head before that. The girl has the heart of a lioness as far as I am concerned. It is not an easy thing to attack even if you have the weapon in hand. It does take a certain kind of courage to carry the thought through.
I, for my part, cannot see Annika ever stabbing someone even if she was attacked. She is a bold and resourceful girl but not 'Dabang'. Even with Daksh she was more on the defense than attack.
No offense to any Anni fans ... pls no bashing (aaj kal you have to stick a disclaimer with all opinions that you place 😆)



I loved Gauri the most today. "Badi aayi, bade bhaiya pe haq jata ne waali, mangni hui nahi ki chali mangetar bane. Gaon basa nahi aur bikhari pehle aa gaye." 🤣
This was priceless for me. She is really a treat to watch and hear 😆

Reading some very well written posts in the forum today. I have never noticed the parallels between shivay and gauri neither Om and Annika. Shivay-gauri and Om-Annika bond has always stood out for me, but I have never looked at it the way you sketched it. It was really good reading your perspective and the depth you gave to their equations. I for one will be looking at ShivRi and AniKara with this sketch in mind now.
I figured that since the writers had made the brothers bond so deep and meaningful that it would be natural for them to seek that personality and trait in their partners. I have been watching this develop very closely for almost 50+ episodes in the early days between Anni-Om and now will enjoy watching Gauri-Shivvay develop (hopefully) for the next 50 + or so.

I was always amazed (in the earlier episodes) at how quickly OmRu's bond with Annika deepened so quickly in just a few days though she was Prinku's friend. The boys found excuses to be around her and would always be amused at how she mirrored what they said about Shivvay but of course in her own 'Taddi' and style.
While Rudy's was a kinda 'Hero Worship' - super girl etc like he does with Shivvay, Om's was always being her most ardent advocate and her protector. He always took up for her.

It was because she was like a voice of truth around Shivvay bringing him down from his high horse. She always manages to peel off the 'glitz and shimmer' that he hides behind to see the man inside.
That is who Annika replaced or should I say took over the burden from in Shivvay's life - his conscience Om. Om handed Shivvay over to Annika happy in the knowledge that his brother is looked after.

I saw Om's liking for Annika's true self and open transparency grow into affection and then into admiration bordering on almost adoration of her as his would-be sister in law. He never once wavered from his faith and trust in who he though Annika was even with the chip incident. He looked through all the exterior and took the effort to see the person she was inside.

Shivvay sees Gauri as the means to return the 'Vishwas' that Om lacks in life and love in general. The unwavering faith that life can bring happiness as well if you ask it from the heart. Om's unwavering 'Vishwas' (trust) has only been in Shivvay all his life. There is no one he blindly trusts more than Shivvay. That is who Gauri will replace and take the yoke up from - the 'Vishwas' will then transfer from Shivvay and spill onto Gauri thus giving Om his stability in marriage and life.

Om represents truth and needs it and Annika is about truth as well (not counting the one that she is hiding right now from Shivvay)
Shivvay is about trust and he needs that in his life (hence the hurt that Annika broke that between them - the blind trust) and Gauri holds 'Vishwas' in high regard as well, hence her need that Om trust her and who she is.
Shivvay is already an ardent supporter and protector of Gauri - the relationship is a treat to watch as it develops.

Asya, thanks so much for this lovely post and for your thoughts thru this thread. 👏👏 I've been terribly down on the show lately but the last couple of episodes have shot a jolt of interest. Dabangg Gauri has been the tonic and the Bhavya-Gauri combo's take down of Pinky and Ragini was so much fun to watch. I love the Durga analogy for Gauri, the fierce protector and the OBahu counterpart to Shivaay. It maybe too early to say but perhaps the writers are setting up Bhavya to be Kali the destroyer - if her quest to take down Sultan and get to the bottom of the mystery of her family's death leads to the big sisters reveal with the Oberoi's villainy as part of it then it blows the Oberoi firmament to smithereens. I'm really not sure what the CVs are holding back that storyline for. It's time to tell the real stories they have and let the chips fall as they may.

Such a beautiful post Pearl.. 👏 I love the way you have drawn parallels between Shivaay - Gauri and Annika - Om.. Beautifully analysed.. I always loved the equation Om and Annika shared.. and ever since the MS episodes I love Shivaay and Gauri's equation the same..
