Parallels between The Manjali O'Bahu (The recent OM Resident 'Fixer') and Badey Bhaiya (Veteran OM 'Fixer')

Can I give a standing ovation to Gauri Kumari Sarma today and would you join me??!! She is a true Dabang Bahu and as Dadi said the perfect partner for Omkara Singh Oberoi. I hope the man is beginning to realize what a 'Gem' he has in her.

Her relationship with Annika, from what I have understood always, is similar to the one she has with Hubby Omkara, and I can see now why she is drawn to Annika when she is vulnerable and why Annika in turn draws strength from her. The whole conversation in front of the Goddess could have been one that she has had with Omkara rather than with Annika.

Omkara stands up for Annika for the same reason Shivvay stands up for Gauri. Both see themselves in the other person. I have pointed out before that Omkara would always need a Shivvay/Rudy in his life as his other half just as Shivvay has an Omkara/Rudy in his. The common quotient here of course being Rudy who adores and is equally adored by his 'Bhabhis' as he affectionately calls them.

Gauri is the perfect source of strength and guidance for both Om and Annika. Om has no 'Vishwas' in the Supreme Being and neither does Annika. Both have suffered disillusionment from the creator because they feel they have been let down by him/her. Both refuse to turn to him/her in times of need and sorrow because they see it as a sign of weakness. Both consider it futile to even ask because they feel their prayers are never heard. Both need Gauri in their lives to guide them back to that 'Inner Faith'.

Just as Om follows Shivvay's lead when veneration of the God's is needed at home (he never walks forward to do it on his own but has always performed it because of Shivvay's outstretched hand beckoning him), the same way I saw Annika being led by Gauri today to stand before the Goddess and was made to join hers in prayer, while she prayed with her. Here again the parallel was drawn.

Shivvay is always the wall that stands in front of Omkara and protects him because Om is by nature strong but silent. He is non- confrontational by nature so Shivvay confronts because that is who he is - A man of action.

Om will be vocal about injustice just as Annika is (temple incident) but they never bother to fight for themselves (Pinky taunting both)

Om never stands up and bothers to fight because it is not in his nature not because he does not get angry. The only time we have seen him lose his natural composure and give in to anger, aggression and his wrath has been with Gauri, Annika with Shivvay as a parallel.

That again is similar to Annika-Gauri (AnniRi) that we saw today. Annika is not a weak girl but she is just not confrontational by nature. She is the strong silent type who prefers to let things slide. Gauri stepping in is exactly what I would have expected from her not because she is stronger or 'muah pad' but because she is a 'Fighter and Fixer' by heart.

She, like Shivvay, is a protector. She will stand up for the weak and the silent that belong to her.

The only person who really stands up to Pinky and can manage to shut her up is Shivvay. In his absence Gauri did the honors today. I was so happy and proud to see her take control of the situation as the Oberoi Bahu and actually impart Gyan to Pinky for a change. The way she did it was the perfect blend of good upbringing and strength. I would not want to cross paths with this woman when her Family is threatened ... lol 😆

Bhavya was exceptional today and I am enjoying the growth of her character for the past few days now. I think in a day or so she will deserve a post of her own so I will refrain from mixing it with Gauri's right now. Today was Gauri's day to shine and I would like to keep it that way. 😉

I have said in the dbo forum once, Gauri is the Shivaay of the ObahuS. A protector by nature. The mind of the female trio. Anika being the heart/soul and Bhavya the body.

She is a realist, as in to protect her loved ones she can go to any extremes much like shivaay, (she had lied about her pregnancy blatantly without feeling much guilt to protect om) 😆

And yes Om seeing himself in Anika and Shivaay seeing himself in Gauri , yes that is absolutely true. Empathy right? Which is why om has always stood up for Anika and Shivaay for Gauri.

The episode belonged to her imo.

It also helps that the actress is absolutely brilliant. Chota packet bada dhamaka types.

I loved the temple scene. It touched me. Both having contrasting beliefs in 'Faith', for one it's a weakness, the other regards it as her strength. 😳

I am shipping AniRi. 😆 They have a natural chemistry, much similar to the Obros.

Today gauri really rocked...did you noticed pinky's face...I have never seen her face like that... she was stumped for a moment she realised wat it will be if you start panga with gauri...ek jhaap mein dewar pe saadjayibe... I remember during the search for female lead for om we discussed that om's female lead will be a female version of Shivaay... Today I saw that... its always shivaay managed the house when trouble comes...today look how easily she handled the family...actually wat you described is perfect yar... For shivaay it's always om who will look into his eyes and point out the wrong things and rudy is the elements which keeps him happy... both qualities are there in Annika... In om's case shivaay is his strength... his support... his pillar and Rudra the sameas for shivaay and that quality is in gauri... in Rudra'scase it's Shivaay who advised him always and om is the one who had a deep pain inside him still be with him like Bhavya... even though the writers messed up everything but I really loved the charecter they created yar...Actually Omkara needed a constant strength with him through out him... shivaay is there but he can't concentrate on him always but now he had gauri... I really hope om will realize it too fast... the more she becomes strong the more om will drawn towards her...today om was admiring her... how she had management everything... the way she protected Annika... Annika is strong but she falls vulnerable sometimes... at that time she can't do anythingbut gauri is like shivaay... even they are breaking inside they will hold themselves and take defensive measures fast...

This is the first time am commenting on your post dear👏.. I must say you have brilliantly drawn parellels.. I loved your analytical view..!!

In the debacle of episodes that is, this is the only pov which interested me.. Writers bring the best of out the worst.. so true.. I wish the writer who writes for the show, puts as much efforts as you have taken to pen this down.. Gauri is the Shivaay of Obahu.. true.. she turns grey if situation demands and is not always a mahaan.. She doesnt care when it comes to protecting om. She is the one who made him realize lies doesnt matter its the intention which matters (he forgot all of that in merger thats a diff story). She doesnt care he adores or worships her.. all she wants is acknowledgement of her relationship with him, a reason for her self respect to let her stay in the house. AniRi any time. because they have a natural bond like obros do.. They look fab as sisters..!!.

Brilliant post Di. Tks Priya ... I have been waiting for so long to make a post on Gauri but unfortunately she was never given anything by the writer, till today, worth making a post on. I am sure that too won't last though. She will manage to kill this growth as well because a FL has our admiration and that I think does not sit well with her.

And yes Om seeing himself in Anika and Shivaay seeing himself in Gauri , yes that is absolutely true. Empathy right? Which is why om has always stood up for Anika and Shivaay for Gauri. Yup!!! Notice Shivvay is as big an advocate and defender of Gauri as Omkara is of Annika. For Shivvay, Gauri can do no wrong or be wrong just like for Om Annika can do no wrong or even be wrong. They are the mirror images of each other that is why.
Gauri also had zilch hesitation confronting Pinky - Annika has never confronted an older in the Oberoi house ever. Gauri is strong enough to speak up if an older is wrong - she did not even spare Bua Ma.
Shivvay stands up to Tej and Pinky when needed - no hesitation.

And that small scene with daadi and anika and om watching her with a contemplative expression was indirectly a RiKara scene. He needs to see her with his family. Trust her with them. Seeing her being strong for them will make him reflect on the strength that resides within her. He already knows that - the writer keeps flipping the guy because she does not know what to do with them if MU is taken away. Pathetic !!

It also helps that the actress is absolutely brilliant. Chota packet bada dhamaka types. I have watched Shrenu in IPKKND EBP and liked her even in that. I was happy that she as FL to Omkara

I am shipping AniRi. 😆 They have a natural chemistry, much similar to the Obros. I have always liked their chemistry but I will not open a Pandora's Box here ..lol
It can get very ugly very soon with such things 😉

You know when we get married they say we tend to get all the qualities in the spouse that we already have in our family members. Because in our family members we find comfort n that's what we search in that individual who we call our better halves and more. So mirroring of Shivaay-gauri n Anika n omkara is perfect. Similarly gauri n anika both have a lot of Rudy in them n that's why they keep the seriousness of both shivaay n Omkar away from them.😆 and that's why the husband or wife is our mother,father,brother,sister all wrapped into one!

Coming back to Gauri she has been a lioness from DBO days. Tackling the nuisance of swetlana, wrath of Omkara n the drama of bua MA wasn't so easy😛.trust me but she tackled all with so much ease I cant even tell you. In fact yesterday her encounter with pinky n nagini was nothing compared to what she has tackled before.i love it when she goes dabaang. N that's why she questioned Omkara in the right ways n held her self respect. You see even Shivaay was asking the right questions until anika ga e into the name of the fake Fiance from there it went Boom!😆 now Shivaay has gone dirty with push!

Loving the parallels,loving the permutation n combinations of the ishqbazers. Thank you for drawing us in it through your post.😊

Pearl, lovely post after ages.

Today belonged to Gauri and her Vishwaas totally. She was at the front and center in keeping the family together, stepping up admirably, keeping her faith, letting the others not lose courage and in control. The small town girl who is only 5th std pass as she likes to say was a lioness fiercely guarding her hearth from the outsiders.

A relationship forged on heart and goodness when fate has been fickle to all the 3 gals, snatching their loved ones from them was lovely to see. When the elder bahu failed, devastated at the thought of losing her beloved, was held, comforted and reassured by the calm Gauri. She has been a silent spectator to Pinky's taunts towards Anika and she did not hold back.

I just loved seeing Gauri/Bhavya tear into Pinky-nagini... 😆😆 gave me so much sukoon to see that. Loved it when Gauri used her deewar pe sata de...dialogue...

Gauri Rudra bonding is another beautiful relation and also Gauri - Shivaay. You have drawn out the parallels between them very well. Anika does not confront and neither does Om. He only rages at his dad for all the insults his mother suffered. Guilt over the accident drove him to drugs, he has pointed out the unvarnished truth to Shivaay always but never fought with him or angry the way he got with Gauri. Think Shivaay and Om have reserved showing their real selves to their respective halves where the walls come down and they are exposed, vulnerable.

Om had seen a side of Gauri that he MU completely. Now he is seeing her in anew light, with his family, caring for them, being there for them, going about her duties as a bahu silently, caring for his dadi. All of this and more are going to make him soften towards her, giving way to some meaningful dialogues and progress in their relation.

Gauri has been through much and still has a sunny disposition, her vishwass in her Shankarji unshaken. The way she took Anika to Mata Rani to pray for Shivaay's well being was beautiful, the Mother who has been a silent witness to all of anika-Ponky's confrontation, will bring back the faith of Anika, who has lost faith in her. Om who had lost his art in his pursuit of revenge found himself again due to Gauri. She is slowly but surely bringing back the lost lambs to their fold. Gauri has a mother or atleast known some mother's love, warmth whereas Anika, Bhavya have never had that love or warmth. I want to see them being showered with motherly love.

My only peeve..TEjVi are so lost in their own asinine game that they lost sight o f the fact that Shivaay is missing. Such a glaring loophole by the writers...

Every wall needs a strong foundation and if Shivaay is the great wall for the Oberois, then it is Anika for him, it is OmRU for Anika along with Gauri, Anika, OmRu for Shivaay & OM.

It is a treat to see AniRi, they pack a punch..and so will RiKara... waiting for that to begin. chota packet or DQ as we used to call Shrenu in EBP... is gorgeous. Came into her own today and Om seeing her in action was khdikitod.

Lovely post, I'm still not seeing Shivaay and Gauri parallels. I do enjoy Shivaay and Gauri's relationship though. I loved when Ani was holding Om back and Gauri was holding back Shivaay during the PriVeer shaadi. I feel Gauri is not as grey to be called a grey character. I can agree that Gauri is stronger in situations than Annika. Though your perspective on this situation is cool.

I loved Gauri the most today. "Badi aayi, bade bhaiya pe haq jata ne waali, mangni hui nahi ki chali mangetar bane. Gaon basa nahi aur bikhari pehle aa gaye." 🤣

Reading some very well written posts in the forum today. I have never noticed the parallels between shivay and gauri neither Om and Annika. Shivay-gauri and Om-Annika bond has always stood out for me, but I have never looked at it the way you sketched it. It was really good reading your perspective and the depth you gave to their equations. I for one will be looking at ShivRi and AniKara with this sketch in mind now.

Gauri is probably one of the most intriguing characters in the IB/DBO series. A flawed character with an unflawed conscience. She is very clear regarding what she is doing. She lies at the drop of a hat...but her intentions are truthful.

And the uncanny resemblance to Shivaay cannot be denied. Both of them love their near and dear ones.

And I am glad Gauri till now has her self respect intact (though I dont know till now long)
