Its the bad influence of Golu, who was teaching her how to cheat and tell lies. I also agree that Golu was the spoilt child by Elena-Vicky, Elena was a careless mother who left the child with the mercy of dadi and Dev only showered love to the kid and was not responsible to the kid. When he first lied that he had stomach ache, he was not punished, when he didn't fare well in the exam, he was not taught or monitored. Vicky never bothered being a father, he only wanted to give Golu to Dev only to grab Dev's wealth.
In Golu's case I don't think Dev was responsible for Golu's deed, its only the parents who are responsible for the child and not anyone. Dev can only love Golu but not punish Golu, so its the parents who are responsbile for the child .
Actually, wrong deeds are more attractive and easier to accept to everyone than the good deeds.
