Let me start with introduction. I am Ri. I hope I can call you Simi right?
Coming to NK and AvNeil, it's the different dynamic which works for me. It's been said many times so still at the risk of sounding like a broken record, the show is different because the leads are very different. Avni returns after 15 year for revenge, that's like wow. We have seen FL on telly as fixer, bringing together broken families like she's some angel, and here is this girl who comes with a single minded focus of destruction. She meticulously plans, lies-steals-cheats, uncaring of everything cause nothing matters. She hopes to get her brother back but he's another asshole, and it shatters her. Time and Time again and again she breaks down, but she swallows it and stands up stronger. This is avni who don't give a shit about fixing anything. She came for revenge and probably didn't plan for next. She has gone so far that her own family is right in front of her, mourning her and she chose to stay away from them.
Neil - where do I even begin. He's a good man. Respectful, sweet, just, kind. And yet he's an adorable dork who gets embarrassed when someone teases or plays silly little games with this girl who gives it back to him every time. He loves his mom but never shuts up when she's spewing bullshit. He questions about his parents marriage and wonders if he's so broken hearted how can he give happiness to his wife. We get male leads who are flowerpot, never questions their parents or we have super rude jerk male who do not care about respect. So Neil is a refreshing to see, a guy who seems real and maybe we find hard we may get 😛 he lost his first gf and he didn't make it a excuse to become cold or ruthless, rather he picked himself up from the tragedy and trying to live with happiness he can find.
And there is this police angle. This is what Interested me actually, this chor/police cat mouse game. This game they plays where he can feel it in his guts she is wrong, she is doing wrong, and he Chases her but it's like she is a mirage . It keeps slipping past his fingers the harder he squeezeslile sand. Which is something that's still happening, even that they are quite close now and they live under one roof. Neil is Avni's first on so many levels. She has lost so much, faith in system, faith in man- as dad, as husband, as a friend, and it's like she's getting it all back with Neil. Even when they had their games going on she did acknowledge Neil is a good man who can do no wrong and she trusted him. That was huge coming from her who probably don't even believe her shadow or anything good. Neil earned her begrudging respect and friendship. Also what interesting is that they have this role reversal of broken female/a partner who can heal her. Neil is the sorted one out of two and he's bringing out pieces of hers that was lost, and she's finding herself with him again. Of course Neil has his share of tragedy too but he knows how to live with them in a healthy way unlike avni.
Of course leads chemistry don't hurt.
